Hello guys,
I recently acquired an international version of the s3. Since I am relatively new to android i have not attempted to modify the phone in any way. I have updated to Jelly Bean through the official update right when i got the phone a few days ago.
Anyways, I have been experiencing some lag issues which none of my friends whom also use the s3 experience. The lag itself is in two ways:
1) When i push a button to turn on the screen, the digital clock displayed on the lock screen lags at times. For example, if it is 10:30, the screen would turn on with 10:28, and then quickly within a second change to 10:30. It always shows the time which is a few minutes behind the actual time, then quickly corrects itself.
2) Sometimes when i receive calls or texts, I turn on the phone and it will display the phone number of the person calling or texting without showing the name / picture which you assigned it on your contacts, AND THEN changes to the contact name / picture. For e.g, If my friend David is calling me, when i take out my phone and look at it i will see 5432669318, but it takes a few seconds for the phone to recognize that that number is David.
I know these sort of errors may be minor, but it ruins a quality of life expected of flagship phones :crying:

is this a known defect? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Help please
The first issue you are experiencing is because the widget is not updated if the screen is off to save power. When you turn the screen on, it will update itself in a few moments and is quite normal. The alternative is that it updates the widget all of the time, which would likely ruin battery life. My HTC handset also does it and whilst I notice it, it doesn't borne me do much now but it did at first.
The second issue may be caused by the device having to reload the contacts database. My low end device does this more often than my high end stuff, but both do it. How many contacts do you have?
Hmm but the clock ALWAYS updates from like 1 to 2 minutes behind and then fast forwards to the correct time, regardless of when the last time i picked up the phone was.
My phone number list has about 120 contacts

Hi all,
this is my very first post here on xda, so please forgive me if this is not the proper section for my thread. I searched for other thread about similar issues, but I didn't find anyone. I'm Italian, so I even hope to not being wrong in English writing.
I recently bought (on November 2014) an Huawei Ascend Y550-L01 (Android 4.4.4, EMUI 2.3, ROM B137), coming from a (Portuguese) Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5512. Soon I experienced a very strange GPS behaviour: GPS turns itself off. No problem in signal fixing, nor in quality or precision. It simply deactivates.
First I noticed this using the OruxMaps app (which works fine on many phones, even my old one), simply recording the track. Indeed, at the beginning the app was being killed (because of the integrated task-killer) when screen was off, but after setting it as a "protected" app, when I record a track, GPS works while screen is on and, if screen turns off, then most of the times (not always) GPS is deactivated from within Android settings.
I even received (from the purchasing time) some GPS errors while in the home screen... I don't remember exactly that error, but in a fast Internet search it was told being caused from the weather widget, precisely from the "actual position" setting. I deactivated it and added manually my town and those errors were gone.
Then I noted another strange behaviour: GPS turns off even in standby, during night. It is on "extreme precision" on evening and it's off at morning. Sometimes I notice these deactivation (in the notification menu or into the energy saving widget) while I'm using the phone (but always when screens is off), without any error or message popping out... It simply gets deactivated.
Any other experiencing this strange issue? What could be the cause? I sent a mail to official support, but they asked me to take the phone in a service point... I can't stay without phone, so I would like to avoid this if it's not strictly needed.
I think it's a ROM issue (said that even in the mail), but unfortunately still there is no alternative one (or at least I found none). I think also that (almost) every app that uses GPS suffers for the same behaviour I faced using OruxMaps.
PS: phone IS rooted by a couple of week, but I'm facing this issue from the first day.
What the hell is going on? Any help, idea or trying suggestion is appreciated...
Many thanks!
Up?
I also see strange problems on the Y550-L01 connected to GPS.
In my case the GPS does not disconnect completely, but during car navigation the signal gets lost from time to time (tested with different navigation apps).
This is only the case when the Y550 is NOT connected to the charger. If I connect it to the power supply, GPS works quite reliable and accurate!
For me this sounds like a software problem (maybe connected to a power saving mode?). I hope a firmware update will fix this soon.
Even to me this is a firmware issue. Before of your answer, I was really beginning to think it's a fault of my phone. Now that I'm not the only one, I went back to think of a bug.
If it is a power save problem, then try to use this app to stop the power save mode :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
(ultra light : 35K, free/no adds)
"Wake Lock gives you control over the Android Power- and WifiManager.
For example, you can force the PowerManager to keep the screen on or have the CPU still running in standby mode or make sure the Wifi connection keeps running at full performance.
You can use it on any android phone or tablet.
Use it to keep the screen on in full brightness or dimmed mode during movies or slideshows.
To make sure the CPU is still running in the background doing your tasks when you press the standby button."
Thank you for the report.
It seems that the new huaweï G620S has the same GPS problem :

Any news of an Huaweï update ? Hope yes...

Hi! Better post your question in our small Huawei Ascend Y550 thread. Maybe there someone of us can help.
If you understand German:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/huawei-...gation-unzuverlaessig-nur-im-akkubetrieb.html
These folks have the same proplem, but no solution.
Try it while a charger is attached.
Hi everyone.
I work in the support section of a small software company that supplies a software suite to hospitals, we have 2 PC applications and an Android application that work in tandem. At one of our sites they have been having an issue whereby some of their devices (Motorola Moto G2, Android 4.4.2) will randomly reset the date and time to random years (1970, 2040, etc) which is problematic as our software is a real time system that requires the use of time stamps from the devices. If they don't have the correct date and time then it can impact the way the software works, to the point where the devices will no longer connect into the system. I will also note that we use an application (SureLock) to lock the phone down so that it can only use our application.
I have tried several solutions to this problem, including making sure that the automatic date and time settings are not switched on, making sure that the batteries are not completely draining, etc. but have been unable to come up with a solution and I cannot find other users who have the exact same problem.
Some excerpts from my open ticket:
"...the issue was related to the date and time on the devices changing to random years (i.e. 1974, 2036, etc). This has been an issue in the past and so they now untick the "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone" settings within android and set the date and time correctly which solves the issue. But the phones are still randomly changing their date and time even with those settings unticked."
"...We charge our phones fully every day, so it would be extremely rare for a battery to be fully drained. Think it must be something else happening."
"...
Motorola – Moto G – Android version 4.4.2
Date/Time not set to automatic – but we have noticed that this makes no difference – problem still occurs whether the automatic is ticked or not.
Issue occurs on random phones and at differing times of day."
"... Problem is still occurring but not so often. I was keeping a track of when it happened but there did not seem to be any pattern. The only thing I noticed was that one of our Operators who has a cochlear implant seemed to have it happen by far the most often. Could there be some interference from the implant?"
I found one other thread on another forum but it was in relation to the Samsung Galaxy Centura, and this was solved by either unticking Automatic Date & Time or checking the calendar application's time settings. I have tried both of these to no avail.
I am at a loss as to what to try next, any help or info would be much appreciated.
I noticed something with my V60. Sometimes when I pull down the notification shade, the phone gets really laggy scrolling through my notifications. It seems to happen more often when there are more of them. Never had a phone do this before, just curious if anyone has noticed this.
My device is from Telus, Build # QKQ1.191222.002.
I haven't noticed any lagging.
Verizon, same build #, March 1 security patch level, Software version V600VM10c
I just got the phone from T-mobile PL, its generally better in every aspect than my old Xperia X (it was ancient), but now its starting to behave strangely.
It sometimes hangs/freezes the data connection - I can still see the LTE/LTE+/5G icon, but I can't load any website or use any app that relies on data connection. The same happens with wifi router- I even started constantly pinging some server, and I can clearly see that on random basis, it can start spamming timeouts.
The only solution is to either use airplane mode (cause switching data on/off doesn't always help), or go into cellular settings and switch the data mode from/to 5G/4G/3G/2G to/from 4G/3G/2G - basically just forcing it to (probably) reestablish the data connection fixes it.
Do any of you are having the same problem? Its still quite new phone so I can return it or just wait till Samsung patches it.

Hello T-mobile Poland. I'm T-mobile US S21 with Snapdragon. I haven't had this problem at all over the last 5+ months.
I have problem like you, but I am not sure if my problem comes from data or wifi connection. Sometimes when I play a game, all is freezing for a short time (10 seconds), and I can do nothing in this time. After this, all is running good again. I have beta 12, but the problem also on Android 11. It looks like a short kernel crashing, but I think, then the phone had to be restart.

I don't think its the same, cause my phone doesn't freeze- it just the data connection that freezes and causes anything using internet to time out. Besides that, phone is perfectly fine and it has never crashed.
Hello everyone,
Sony Xperia 1 III (QX-BC52)
I found two problems or bugs:
1. PROBLEM WITH MOBILE DATA:
This problem does not occur on the wifi network, but only when the phone uses mobile data. I will also send you a couple of different videos that I recorded with the screen record application so you can see exactly how the problem occurs.
First, for about ten days, I noticed that the icon from 4g was disappearing from time to time, and then I tried for days to find the problem and to see when and why it disappears at times and somehow I succeeded in that. This problem is present in all applications when a video is played and the sound is turned up to maximum, as soon as the sound is reduced to about half of the icons with mobile data (4g) do not disappear and the mobile data transfer works normally without interruption, or only press pause for fix this bug.
I will upload one or two videos in link bellow with situation when I show this bugs:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/vyc7r3
I will share list with all the applications in which this problem occurs that I have personally tested:
- Viber during video calls (occasionally)
- YouTube (every time)
- Facebook (every time)
- Instagram (every time)
In addition to this problem, I noticed that when downloading applications on the 4g network, sometimes the applications are downloaded quite slowly if we keep in mind that the phone downloads them on the 4g network. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to download a 20mb application and sometimes ten seconds, in both situations the signal is full.
2. PROBLEM WITH MOBILE NETWORK:
It also occurs frequently in areas where the phone mainly uses the 2G network, then the connection is often interrupted during the conversation, and therefore also during that period the phone cannot establish a connection, it throws out the message that there is no network even though the area is covered by the network.
I am noticing the same problem, so looks like its a problem with this update. Nothing to do with a particular region or carrier it seems.

My Sony Xperia 1 III is a model for the European market, and a friend has the same phone, but his model is for the Asian market. Both mine and his phone have the same android version and the same software version and he has the same problem, so it doesn't matter what market the phone is made. I tried with another operator's sim card, but the problem is still there. The problem is obviously in the software.
Yea i notice that too. i thought my sim card was bad. f###K after i just made the decision to say on a12..
My XQ-BC62 does it too. When there's loud midrange, LTE drops and the cell indicator flickers. Logcat is so junked up during playback that I don't even know what to look for.
If I output a square wave 22Khz sound, the audio power scales up and down and cellular cycles on and off. It seems like part of the phone is out of power and it's not managed well.
This is an incredibly stupid fault but good to know about. The last thing this phone needs is even more cellular drops.
Im having a problem right now, not entirely sure what exact market my Xperia 1/iii (XQ-BC72) is from, i think Oceanic? As i live in New Zealand but at the moment and for the last week and a half or so i havent been able to make calls and texts either fail a few times then send or take forever to send, its really annoying me cos i also have to use my phone for work, and when i cant make or receive calls most the time it sucks! Aswell as it will say "Calling" when i have Signal Bars, but wont make dail sound/go through or it'll just fail!
