Install instructions are correct. That are the steps you normally should do.
Baseband I dont know but I personally wouldn't care about 72 or 77. Both should work with cm9.

Hi- I updated my rooted 2.3.4 Droid X2 about a week ago to CM7RC1 and have been enjoying it since. One thing that surprised me is that the upgrade appeared to have kept certain configurations that I had, such as the custom wallpaper I was using. I had followed the instructions on this site to the letter, which included wiping data and cache and dalvik cache. I would have thought performing those steps would have cleaned any custom configs/settings off the phone?
The reason I ask is that I'm still encountering some unique bugs I had before the upgrade. I'd really like to perform a true wipe and clean install of CM7RC1. I would presume that would include some type of format of my sd card, since there are so many android file structures on there. But I don't see how I could do that since I need the CM7RC1 and Google App zip installs (as well as the patched BSR apk) on the SD card. I'm not even sure I could boot to the BSR I now have on there if I formatted my SD card.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. Is there a way to do a real system reset with my existing CM7RC1 install? Will the power button + volume down technique really work, or will it keep my custom settings?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks again for any help!

This removes mods too, right?
Yes, if done properly it removes all MODs. It also Formats System and flashes a fresh CM7 build.
I honestly don't think a format of :internal end external sdcards are necessary. Just format the .android_secure folder if you want. What's important is wiping system data and app data. I understand that is what you did but I recommend doing a wipe of data, cache, and DALVIC (which is part of why you were experiencing bugs and the wallpaper was there) before sbfing. I do it again once I install a fresh rom as well just to be safe.

Its certainly not necessary but I think he said something in the first post about wanting to format it.

Hey, I want to try MIUI in safestrap by:
Installing MIUI in CWM recovery.
Making an exact copy of the contents of / (Except sdcard & sdcard-ext) to my computer.
Flash Stock fw from RSD lite.
Root & install Safestrap.
Create new rom slot in safestrap, Install anything.
Replace all the contents in /, with the contents that I previusly copied from MIUI...
Would this work? Does anyone think this could work.
Why does SS doesn't support MIUI?
ive installed miui with safesrap following these instructions. It worked perfectly.
Navigate to and enter the “safe boot menu”.
Select “Enable Safe System”. This will take a couple of minutes to run as it backs up some files (similar to what we did previously, but for different reasons). This backup that is being made is part of why this recovery is called Safestrap as you can actually disable safe system later to boot into your normal stock ROM without flashing or restoring anything manually.
Caution: This will erase all of your user applications and settings. Files (pictures, documents, downloaded files etc.) on your internal sd card as well as you external sd card will still remain.
In the main menu of the Safestrap recovery, navigate to and select “wipe data/factory reset” – then confirm and let that run (5 minutes or so).
Navigate to and select “wipe cache partition” – then confirm (this is done pretty quickly).
Next, navigate and enter the “advanced” menu
Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache” – then confirm (again, this is pretty quick)
Navigate to and enter the “mounts and storage” menu
Select “format /system” – then confirm. This formats the 2nd system partition that was created when you first installed the Safestrap recovery. Your original ROM’s system files are left untouched (again…this is why it’s called Safestrap).
Use the *****Go Back***** link at the bottom of the screen to get back to the main menu and select “Install zip from sdcard”
Now select “choose zip from sdcard” and navigate to the location on your external sd card where you placed your ROM zip file and select it using your power button. Then confirm the install when prompted
Again, use the *****Go Back***** link at the bottom of the screen to get back to the main menu and select “reboot system now”.

Does it make any difference to select "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition" in Clockworkmod Recovery before selecting "Install zip from sd card" or afterwards? I'd like to install CM 10 along with the GApps. In several tutorials I have found both answers.
Yes it do... First wipe then install...
Happy new year
Paulius
Thanks a lot!
Then I can follow the Cyanogenmod-Wiki.
Happy new year, too.
Over the years many people have written guides for installing custom ROM's, and most of then have different steps. I understand certain devices, and custom ROM's need specific install steps. I'm looking for a general consensus on what is currently the best steps and/or order when installing a new custom ROM. Here a few sets of steps that Ive found online. Please let me know which one you think is the best set of instructions for most people.
CLEAN FLASH # 1 *UNTESTED*
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Select "Wipe", then "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Cache, Internal Storage, and wipe
4. Install new ROM
5. Install Gapps, kernel, and any other fixes second
6. Reboot
CLEAN FLASH # 2 *UNTESTED*

3. Install new ROM
4. Install Gapps, kernel, or any other fixes second
5. Select "Wipe" button, then select "Advanced Wipe"
6. Select Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Cache, Internal Storag, and wipe
7. Reboot
CLEAN FLASH # 3 *UNTESTED*

2. Select "Wipe", then "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select System. Wipe
4. Install new ROM
5. Install Gapps, kernel, and any other fixes second
6. Select "Wipe", then "Factory Reset"
7. Reboot
CLEAN FLASH # 4 *TESTED* 8.26.16

2. Select "Wipe" button, then select "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Cache, Internal Storage, and wipe
4. Install new ROM
5. Install Gapps afterwards
6. Select "Wipe cache/dalvik" button at bottom of screen
7. Reboot System
Which set of instructions do you feel is correct? works best? Please reply with ex. "#1" if you'd like to edit the steps please repost the set #1 with your modifications in the same format as the original.
*BONUS QUESTION*
What do you think should be the correct steps for a general DIRTY FLASH?
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Select "Wipe", then "Factory Reset"
3. Install ROM update
4. Install Gapps, kernel, and any other fixes second
5. Select "Wipe" button, then select "Advanced Wipe"
6. Select Dalvik Cache, Cache, Internal Storage. Wipe
7. Reboot
EXTRA NOTES/TIPS found online:
Depending on your situation (see below), you may also need to wipe your data and/or cache. So when should you wipe your data and cache? Here are a few general guidelines:
-If you're flashing a ROM different than the one you're currently running, you should wipe data and cache. Essentially, this performs a factory reset on your phone, and you will lose all your data.
-If you're flashing a new version of a ROM you're already running, we recommend wiping your data and cache—but you should be able to get away with just wiping the cache, meaning you get to keep all your apps and settings.
My vk800x has the problem that the system language cannot be saved, a sim card changes it from english to japanese, every time I switch it on.
As there seems to be no way to fix this problem, I now have a the correct ROM to clean install Android.
I want to clean install, without saving anything. I found instructions, how to wipe, but no instructions for a noob how to install ist, I guess I put the whole zip-file (Unzip first, or not?) on an external micro sd and install it from there? But how?
PS
Is this wiping clean instruction correct?
Select “wipe data/factory reset
Select “yes”
Go to “mounts and storage”
Select “format /boot”
Select “yes”
Select “format /system”
Select “yes”
Back out of that menu to the main one again and select “advanced”
Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”
Select “yes”
Thank You
