i just mean to say that tha CWM recovery shouldn't be gone when changing rom and in my case my CWM recovery is always wiped when i install a stock based rom .

I think the only solution is this: Immediately after flashing the new rom, flash a new cwm zip that installs cwm itself That way, you never lose the recovery so long as you dont forget to install it

Never heard this before
No point in not trying this

If the bootloader locked cwm will wiped after flashing new rom,if you unlocked the bootloader the cwm will not wiped until you flash ftf file

Only if the kernel you have is including a CWM recovery Also, if the rom you flash contains another recovery, you lose CWM with it But, yeah I think Khalil's suggestion and mine are the closest you can get to a permanent CWM

noway on this earth you can have CWM permanent.. you flash the stock ftf again and foops its gone... sope alway keep the CWM recovery handy like the other flashin softwares you use...

Custom Recovery

Hi, I have a Galaxy S2 with stock ROM 4.0.3 and stock Recovery. I wanted to know if there is a way of flashing Custom Rom without rooting the phone or ADB. Would this method work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 I would just proceed till the step "Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear." Would this work? i need custom recovery so i can flash a custom ROM.
Thanks again
No you cant flash a Custom ROM from stock recovery, you need a custom recovery and root access on your phone for flashing custom roms
the method you linked is only for rooting, the recovery appearing is only a temporory one from which you can only install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip.

I didn't test it myself, but I think that it will work.
If the custom ROM is provided as Odin-flashable tar file, you don't need a CWM recovery to flash it. Just put the ROm tar file into PDA section of Odin and flash it to your phone.
Only if the custom ROM is available as CWM-flashable zip file, you need to flash a kernel containing CWM recovery first.
I prefer to flash CF-Root kernel from Chainfire with Odin. It contains CWM Manager app and CWM recovery of cause.
When you are in doubt, stick to the flashing instructions of the ROM developer - usually in the corresponding ROM thread.
P.S.:
As soon as you have CWM recovery, create a nandroid/system backup.
So you will be able to go back to your current system, if something goes wrong with the new ROM.
Good luck !
Oh cool, lemme try it

All you need to do is download cwm recovery from here http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager in your SD card and flash the Dowloaded zip from stock recovery .
Once you flash, your stock recovery will be converted to cwm recovery
After that flash any custom rom of your choice. Simple and short

No you can flash any ROM you want, just like any other cwm.
I have used it multiple times, but the Queston is can you do it the first time, before you choose that busy box installer.
Edit: yes you can flash any rom just fine

From recovery choose the cwm zip
From that touch cwm flashed aosp rom.
So it works just fine.

I think the CWM is in the kernel, so, as long as you have the kernel, you'll have cwm

There is no stock rom zip.
If you flash a firmware with flashtools than you will lose cwm cause the kernel will be replaced.

if u want to update your device using seus u have to first relock your boot loader if u unlocked it before or u can also flash stock rom using flash tool (no relock required in flashtool software) if u want to install custom rom first flash custom kernel you will see the suggestion when u r downloading custom rom from the thread and after flashing kernel go into cwm and do factory reset + cache wipe. after that install zip from sd car (rom zip)

[HELP] Cant get into recovery menu in MIUI

Today i flashed (zip file) my SXS to MIUI latest version, but after installation i feel bad and i want to flash Dualcore rom. But when i tried to enter into recovery mod nothing is happening. Before flashing MIUI ROM i had a CWM recovery (after flashing the rom i didnt do any CWM recovery flashing), so i cant flash from sd card. Can anyone help me to enter into recovery??
Flash stock ftf, root it, install cwm, and then flash [email protected] core rom.
And if you unlocked your bootloader, flash advanced kernel by arakmar and then flash [email protected] core rom.

using this we can make CWM from PC for any ROM (Custom and Stock (i think)) , very easy just run the install.bat alone... Thank you HooLIMAN87 for ur reply..

No it won't affect custom roms because they are already rooted..Most people don't realize that if you are planning to flash custom roms you don't need to root because like I said above they are already rooted.
You only need to root if you are staying on stock rom and need to backup system files/Data or mess about with anything that is to do with the system.
custom rom
Thnx 4 reply....but wat I mean is if I flash custom rom with that error in cwm, will dat cause any problem in flashing. ..the error only occurs while rebooting...nowhere else like wipe cache, factory reset or install zip etc...so shd I go ahead n flash custom rom with dat error still there??

No don't worry about it. It will come up everytime you reboot out of CWM recovery.
Its safe to ignore or flash PHILZ where it doesn't come up if your concerned about it.

If running stock rom it has the ability to replace the recovery with a stock one. Follow the instructions to stop this when presented with it. But since you are flashing custom you can ignore it.
Do a backup, reboot into recovery, flash custom recovery if needed. Do a nandroid backup, wipe /data /system cache and delvik cache, install rom, install gapps, be happy ?
thnx
