Can anyone help me figure out how to turn this damn thing off? Everytime I turn off my WiFi to get some 4G action, it automatically turns on by itself.
Thanks. realchinky
Settings... Mobile data...automatic connection... Make sure optimizer is unchecked.

Ever since I bought the evo3d I have had issues with WiFi staying connected at home(haven't tested other networks). While I'm on my WiFi network browsing the internet and threads my WiFi icon will disappear and I lose connectivity. 3g will kick on for about 30 seconds then WiFi will pop back up and connect. It tends to happen every 5 to 10 minutes. No other device, including my og EVO, has this problem. Ideas? Troubleshooting? Replace phone?

I had this issue with WiFi after original EVO got gingerbread. Change the channel on your router, I had to call Verizon, but been good since
Try turning off always on mobile data and mobile data when your on wifi. If you have automatic sync on I'd recommend turning it off as well when your on wifi. A quick way to achieve this is to use the htc data widget.
Locked & Loaded
"" Shooter on Deck""
You can try going to wifi settings, then hitting menu and advanced to turn on wifi performance mode. And you can change wifi sleep mode as well (one of the settings is fifteen minutes, so who knows)

Well none of those settings helped but I have been on a different router for a little bit now and don't have any problems. So it must be a setting within my main router... Time to mess around with that yippy :/

Anyone who notices the 3G/4G dropping out while using hoptspot there is a way to keep it from dropping out temporary till HTC or Verizon get a fix. 1st this sucks but clear cache and turn hoptspot and then rest phone, once powered up then power down once more if hoptspot is still on (which mine is usually) then make sure the other device connect's once powered back up, if it's not on then turn hoptspot on and connect. It should stay connected till your done using it. This is the only way i can use my hoptspot feature so i figured i would let everyone know.

Only thing your doing is turning hoptspot on and rsetting your phone twice then it'll stay connected.

Update your thread title with something appropriate rather than making it look like you are comparing 3G and 4G.
Anyone have this problem? My 3g will randomly turn off and back on.
It send to be only when I'm actively using it but I don't know for sure.

Little bit more info needed:
Rom?
HBOOT?
Kernal?
Enable always on mobile data in your mobile network settings. Otherwise, it only turns on when a request is sent.

I get this sometimes. I'm on a stock, un-rooted phone, with the latest OTA. I will get this even if I'm in the middle of doing something, and click on a new link. The 3G icon is just grey, and I get no connection. Never an error, about no connection. It's been happening to me for a while, and it even did this on previous phones. So, for me, it's the network, and not the Evo 3D.
*I do have "Enable always-on mobile data checked*
I am having a problem where any time I turn my wife on, my mobile data turns off (no 4G or 3g icon, also network signal info app shows no data). Is this a designed feature or is it a bug? Running stock Rogers firmware I747MVLLE8.

Well that's your problem bud. You're turning your wife on, not the wifi But on a serious note, this is an intended feature of android. When you turn on wifi it turns off mobile data to save your mobile data. If you dont mind me asking, why do you want your 4G to stay put if you are on wifi?

Avoid showering. Your wife won't get turned on as often. Problem solved.
Sorry. Couldn't resist the auto-correct fail... If you're on wifi, your 4g/3g automatically shuts off. That's normal.

It's definitely a "power saving feature" built into Android.

thats how it is on all android phones i blve at least all the ones ive had it wont send or rec pic msgs over wifi so it goes to the network then back to wifi
Alright thanks guys. Is there any way to turn this feature off? I want to keep mobile data on because I have really bad service at my house and I am trying to analyse it a bit.
You can just turn wifi off. You can't be connected to 2 data sources at the same time (that isn't an android thing). If wifi is off, you'll connect using 3g/4g instead.

I also would suggest to do a proper Network reboot but most people are able to fix this problem by turning off the crappy connections optimizer and then go into wifi advanced settings and turn off DLNA.
If this has helped you please hit the thanks button
