Hello fellow xda users. Im about to acquire a Samsung Galaxy S II in 26 Decembecer, to offer to a relative.
But i dont know any ROM available in XDA.
So i would like to know your opinions about which Rom is more stable , best battery life, and best performance.
Because i wont have any time to try the roms out, and the person i'll offer the phone, doenst know how to do it either.
But i wanted to give him a phone with a ROM already installed to bring out the best performance/battery life and stability.
Thanks for all the help u can give, i'll appreciate,
Best Regards,
ruibullseye
Wish u all a Merry Christmas
Without trying to sound stupid its all down to preference, I have tried out a couple and some are better then others
I would just go for a slightly modded mod rather then a full on change as sometimes they are missing features or are harder to learn depending on the age of the relative your giving the phone to
There's a reason these types of threads are frowned upon, and they tend to get closed. ROM preferences are a highly personal thing, and everyone's opinions are different. Many times they even lead to disagreements and flame wars.
Without knowing your relative's usage patterns or preferences, there's no way to reliably recommend a ROM. A ROM that works well for me might not work well for him (or you).

Hello Guys,
I have been searching a better ROM for my FUZE for a while.. I wish we can create some OSCAR like award system for customized ROMs.
Best Stable
Best Useful
Best Looking
.....
..
you can expand the list..
Why we need it because first timer can choose what they need..
that will increase motivation among the chefs..
what do think about it?
Really I think its an nice Idea ... Till the new "Oscar" is given the Chief could get an Icon under its username.
And we could add Categories like The best newcomer Software etc.
To my Opinion its a great Idea and in no other Community

IMHO 1000% BS square3!!! aka Schwachsinn
Why??
That's just another way to start the absolutely useless "who makes the best ROM, which ROM is the best, which ROM is the fastest" which is really for somebody who killed mom and dad with a 2x4!
The B E S T ROM is the one which works BEST for you for various reasons as in:
Naked as in a tripple-x movie
Loaded with all apps YOU like
Loaded with all tools YOU like
Colored as YOU like it
There is no good and no bad ROM it comes down to personal preferences and may even depend on your region.
I'd say a ROM is like a Radio, the one working for YOU must not work necessarily for anybody else.
Amen
What's the different between this and asking "Which ROM is best" ?
Same like OSCAR..
'The Best' is so subjective.. The mechanism will be nominate ROM for the awards, people will be voting for that then there will be an jury mechanism who will review those ROMs and announce OSCARs like in the movies..
First of all, we don't "need" such a thing.
Second, as everyone before me has said, it is completely subjective and useless. It would be a farce, just like oscar awards or the Eurovision song festival.
Isn't this more about the 'glamour' of an oscar idea itself than its actual functional use?
I hope everyone will just keep SEARCHING and TRYING which ROM is best for them.

None that I can see. So accordingly I'm gonna shut this one down, just like the hundreds of others we've done before. There really isn't much value in "best rom" threads because there isn't an objective way to measure, roms become "out dated" so fast that the threads become old very quickly, and last but not least, they tend to degrade into petty bickering between fanboys of the rom.
Many different ROM's have been cooked for our TG01's now and each ROM brings a new experience / something different. I've personally tried many ROM's on XDA just to name a few theres nosker's, ffboy's, mirom's, and stonrom's but i cant seem to stick with one since im always looking for something better. Now to be fair i dont think any ROM is final yet since theres still alot to be done with our TG01's but i and im sure others would like to know which is the best ROM to use at this very moment.
Now we all use our devices for different things, i personally use it for a bit of everything - browsing the web, checking my email, gps tracking, checking the weather, and of course phone calls ! I seem to find browsing the web needs alot of RAM though so ideally im looking for a stable ROM with plenty of free RAM. I do like sense but from experience its just impossible to get a stable browsing experience with sense installed so im willing to sacrifice those nice looks. My personal favourites have been noskers rom and mirom which has an amazing 96MB free so im likely to be going back to one of those next unless anyone can recommend a better one.
An ideal solution to finding the best ROM would be to post your own experiences with each one, what you've personally used it for ie browsing the web. So im going to suggest we do just that ! Ill be keeping track of this thread so when time allows ill add a list below with our favourite ROM(s) specific to device useage. ie best rom for browing the web, etc. I think its a good idea anyway .
Reserved ...

For some time now we have been closing off "Best Rom" threads. The reasons for this are well known.
In addition to those reasons, asking what is the best rom is akin to asking 20 people what the best beer is; you will never get a single agreed answer from all of them. Its about personal need, personal choice and preference, which can only be defined by YOU.
If you are unsure as to which rom might suit you best, read the first couple of posts of each thread posted by the rom chef. That tells you all you need to know about a particular rom, then list the attributes and decide which ones you would like to try out.
I thought I would post this up here so that there is an awareness, especially amongst new members of XDA Developers, and to help those who wish to pose this question.
Best rom threads will, in future be simply deleted without further explanation.
Please help us to help you by not putting up posts that have to be deleted.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in this matter.

Thanks for updating me on that i wasnt aware of that rule but it does make sense ... if a mod feels its right to close this thread please do so i just thought a thread for everyones favourite ROM would be a good thing. Each ROM would get a mention in the list for what its best used for according to the posts here and would be updated regularly. I havent seen a chef post what there ROM is best at so i personally think this is needed and it would save others having to try all the ROM's on here like i and others have done ... i guess its like a musician or an artist, a chef cant tell you what there ROM does best, only the users can.
Which ROM should I flash to get the maximum battery life from the HD2? Is simpler ROM better or not?
It's hard to say because so many factors play an effect. If you have the perfect radio for your area and it's known to work well with the ROM you will usually get decent results for most ROMs. But if I had to decide I would say one of Miri's ROMs or the UnOff series.

I guess this thread will be closed soon. There are several threads asking which Rom to be the best? And you will get as much different answers as people write to your thread.
The answer is:
it depends mostly on the Radio ROM and the applications you are using. So you might get a longer battery life when you disable all those background agents for mail, twitter, weather and so on.
So you should better test for the best Radio ROM in your area with your needs and take a look at the existing threads how to save battery life
Here's something to help you test the radio (should be pretty easy to tell without it though)
hey guys whats your ****ing problem this thread is very interesting.

Calm down guy, it's called a search button I'll give you a hint "best hd2 rom for battery". There have been many threads about this. No need to huff and puff.
Don't be stupid. Different radios work different with different ROMs. And then your location also decides what radio is good for you. So go try them out.
Personally, I like 2.12.50.02 and 2.10.50.26 with a lot of ROMs. I know that because I tried them.
Hi was wondering if anyone knew which Rom was faster between [NIGHTLY][ROM][4.0.4] CyanogenMod 9 and Remics-UX v1.2**BETA 7/2/2012** :cyclops:. Just looking to get the consensus. Thanks
Honestly, and this is not to sound like an @55hole at all, the best thing to do is flash one, and try it for a week. What may seem fast for some might be slow for you, and vice versa. And it can't be that big a deal to do it if you're willing to flash in the first place. I myself will go through 6 or 7 different roms a month. Already have a favorite, but I like to see what all the devs are putting together and sample it.
Just my lil suggestion...
Agree with Diablo.
The truth is that Roms tend to differ experience-wise from user to user. All vibrant hardware is not created equally ^^ This is why some users can UV to extreme levels while others experience soft boots from something like -25. This is not to say that you cannot gain some insight from users...but at the end of the day, if you'd like to really know which is better for you I would suggest doing a nandroid and flashing them...that way, you can always go back if you are less than pleased with what you find. Good luck!
Hey guys, I want to ask what the best rom for me is. I tried so much roms for my phone but no has ever that "best rom" feeling for me. My battery will drain so hardcore on several roms and its horrible laggy (I'm using greenify to get the apps sleeping). Should I go back to the Stock firm or what should I try? I'm in love with the lollipop port but so many features aren't in there. The most important thing for me is the battery drain. If I listen music, it shouldn't drain my battery so hard. The same is for the laggy thing (mostly using greenify).
I hope someone could help me
There are enough best ROM threads here. Did you read them? If the answers aren't satisfying for you, list at least your so much ROMs with their feeled disadvantages.
Also, take under consideration, don't rely on the ROM solely... Consider personal management of the system, user interface, apps installed, etc...
Basically the ROM itself operates under its own defaults and the user customizes those conditions based on variables capable under those conditions.
I hope I explained it OK.
Good luck!
