Could somebody help me, please?
I did a successful (?) rooting - at least the Terminal accepts the su command - with condi's AiO-tool on my Tablet S (R1a) and apparently have now the rooted R5a. That would be perfect, but the Market was lost (other apps as well, never mind), so I am not able to download/install anything (while on desktop PC appears the Tablet among my others, letting apparently the install).
What can I do? I tried with AiO to push the Standard Market (the older one), but at the end of process the tool stopped with failure; I think the same would happen with the other three Markets.
And another general question: After the mentioned upgrade the tab keeps offering the OTA upgrade to R5a though the system IS R5a already... What would happen if one accepted this upgrade? Final heaven, lost root, broken system or - brick?

Hi,
Have you wiped your device after flash done?
You have update notification because incremental value is lowered (to give you possibility of reflashing/downgrading etc.).
You can disable notifications via AiO tweaks.
If you will accept update - you will loose root and be unrootable.

Thank you so mach for the answer! - I couldn't ask you in your developer thread because I am noob...
So right away the noobest question: What does by Tablet S "whipe" mean (I haven't did it)? I know it quite well with my phones and Samsung tab, but there is CWM Recovery, and here something miserable with 3 lines... maybe its 3rd choice, Factory Reset? Or, should my first attempt be installing the CWM Rec?
What is the right way? After rooting with your AiO, directly your new [FLASHER] and...? When and how that "notification update"? And after that all the wiping, or...?
Believe me, I were not alone with basic questions. Sorry, anyway. And for my Hungarian English, too...

CWM Recovery is not compatible with the Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, or Xperia Tablet S. Do not attempt to install it.
"Wipe" means to reset the tablet to factory and erase all user data. One way to do it is to go to Settings > Backup & reset, then select Factory data reset. Another (better) way is boot the tablet into Recovery Mode, select "3. Reset to factory settings.", and then select "Yes -- delete all user data". WARNING! All installed user apps and data will be erased. You will need to reinstall the user apps. You will not (should not) lose root access.
To boot the tablet into Recovery Mode, completely POWER OFF the tablet, then press and continuously hold the VOL+ button, then momentarily press the POWER button. Release the VOL+ button when the System Recovery screen is displayed.
To eliminate the OTA update notifications, run Condi's S.onyTablet.S [ALLinONE] v5.3 tool. From its Main Menu, select "4 * Tweaks and Mods [SUBMENU]", then select "3 Toggle OTA system updates and notifications [enable/disable]". Follow prompts.
Big thanx to both of you!!!
Only one holy "wipe" and new worlds are opened! I could not think that so simply can be solved an apparently sad situation! Halleluyah, Lord condi and Sir Cat McGowan! It was a happy Christmas Eve closing action - and I wish you also
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I have a T-mobile G2 Touch(HTC Hero). I've recently started using it again and it seems like it needs a firmware update. Many cool apps like WhatsApp require firmware 2.1 and above.
I was never sent an OTA update and its too late to complain about that. I've seen posts dating back to 2010 talking about upgrading from 1.5 to 2.1 and they are confusing to say the least.
How hard can it be 2 years on?
Why hasn't HTC made firmware updates fool proof by now?
Can someone please assist me in figuring this out.
I can't believe upgrading a phone's firmware can take so much outta someone.
Help!!!!
First try to go to Settings -> About Phone (don't know what it's called, but it is the buttom one) -> If there is anything mentioning Software-update or alike you should go there and search for an update.
If not you should connect to WiFi and try to change the time a month or so forward. Then it should pop up with a update-notification and you can press download. That's at least how it works for me (WWE)
I've tried this, there isn't a software update or any option to search for updates.
It must be in "About" of Settings. Are you sure you've checked out all the options?
Does your carrier have a support page that links the update file? It should be a stand alone exe file that runs and takes care of the update.
Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk
On official site:
Checking for phone software updates manually
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
Scroll down the screen, and then tap About phone > System software updates.
On the System software updates screen, tap Check now.

I think maybe you should wait and try as mljjlm suggested to you, changing the date. You can try to setting date as 07/30/2010 or 07/30/2011 and waith some hours for OTA...
A while back when 2.1 came out, the update never came OTA even when I forced to check for updates, but I fixed that by changing my clock from 2010 I think to 2011 , restarted the phone and I was able to update to 2.1 and after that I changed the clock back to 2010. You can try to set your clock to 2013 and then the update will come
i had the same problem before i rooted. the only way i could trigger the update check was for me to do a factory reset on the phone. or you could just root it!

Can you get into custom recovery and mount usb drive to pc? because if you can then you can flash this: Stock 2.1
Caution! This Will Erase All Data (Not SD Card) AND REMOVES ROOT + CUSTOM RECOVERY
If you choose to flash this then you will need to re-root and re-flash custom recovery to flash a new rom
Before Christmas I tried to do a OTA update on my Prime, which has not been successful and I have not been able to use the Prime since.
It has previously been rooted and previously have always been successful in using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to retain root after updates. I've not unlocked the Prime.
Now when I try to boot it spends a while 'optimizing' the applications (as if it was the first time i've booted it since the update), and then once it is started, no apps will startup, all of them resulting in saying "unfortunately xyz has stopped"
A video of the problem: youtu.be/e1yfTtGiR78 (sorry can't post full link as am a new user).
I'd like to get it working again, possibly installing the Androwook ROM (or at the very least, just working on the stock rom). What steps do I need to do from where I am at the moment?
There are many threads about flashing roms, brick-fixing (some more up to date than others), but I'd just like a bit of advice about this problem and what I should do next (maybe some good links?). I haven’t gone near doing any flashing on the Prime, and it would be nice to seperate the things I could do, from the things I -should- do (I don't know where to start).
I believe as the Nvidida logo is on the bottom right this means I'm on the JB bootloader? Currently the settings menu shows I'm on android 4.1.1, but not sure if this is pre or post the failed update.
Thanks for any help,
Steve
A factory reset will fix you up. You'll lose your data
Hold vol down + power when booting to access the boatloader menu. Select wipe with vol down and use vol up to confirm.
Hi,
Thanks, I've done the reset, but I still seem to have the same problem.
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/502/imag0217c.jpg
I can't actually proceed throuh the inital set up, because it closes itself when it gets to the account setup page.
Any ideas?
I have resolved this.
I downloaded the latest firmware from the ASUS support website, extracted the zip file from within the downloaded zip file and renamed it to EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP .
Put this on a microSD card (which I had formatted to FAT32), inserted it into the Prime, then booted into the bootloader menu.
Selected the RCK option, it did the update, and 10 minutes later it was up and running again.
From what I have read, it won't try to complete the update if it thinks you have already got that version installed already, but I guess it knew it hadn't successfully completed the update previously.
Glad it's working again.
I have many questions about my Changjiang N7300 Android 4.1 phone.
When the phone starts the Splash screen says Samsung SIII GT i9300. Does this mean anything?
I have two factory reset screens, both in Chinese. One is called a 1225 Recovery System from Taiwan101. Is this the same thing as the ClockWorkMod Recovery or is related to “recovery.img” used in flashing a ROM, or is it a Factory Reset system?
The translation of the options available in the 1225 Recovery System are:
- start system
- select update from SD card root directory
- clear Data/restore factory status
- clear Cache sector
- select update from SD card
- backup and restore
- mount and save
- advance
- shut down phone
- +++++ back to previous menu +++++
Is there a ClockCorkMod Recovery available for this phone? Is there any English Recovery System available?
My reset key combination is: Power + Volume_down + soft_button_back
Use volume to move up & down the menu
Use Power to select
The other system seems to be a factory reset that is built into firmware. It offers these menu options and many other screens which appear to be diagnostics.
factory mode
total debug
single index debug
debug report
clear MMC
version information
reset phone.
Most of the buttons to use the system are the same as the other recovery system, but to select an option you press the soft_button_home.
All you can do with this system is get the phone started. There is no apparent way to flash a ROM.
ROM options
What is the best ROM available for this phone?
I had good luck with one from Taiwan101
Taiwan101_ChangJiang-N7300_JB_V.04.3.zip
But the most recent and the one I am using now is:
Taiwan101_ChangJiang-N7300_JB_V.05.0.zip
I tried an Omega ROM here:
kitchen.indieroms.net
But it didn’t work.
Note I tried to post the links to these ROM, but they won't let me. Hope you can find them.
Support
I wanted to post some links to some support pages I found, but I can't.
Maybe you can search Google to find them.
Why is there no support for these 7300, 7100, 7180, 9300 etc. etc. MTK65xx phones?
I found a Japanese page with support for my N7300 on this web site: bygzam.seesaa.net ( under this article) 317473173
That page was developed from a Russian page that is a little easier to find..
Is there better support available in English?
This is a fake phone - it isn't a genuine one, and who knows what you can do with it???

Nice offer, thanks. Mine came rooted which was great. What I need is a way to install a Factory Reset or Recovery system in English. I bought the ROM Manager app from Play Store, but it doesn't have a ClockWorkMod recovery for this phone.

I have this phone with JB4.1.1 and I want to root it. Thank you
Hope you can help me - I am desperate to halt the OTA update for my galaxy s4 -
based on everything I’ve read, Samsung did a really bad job on this update, 4.4.2, and they are currently rolling out 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, but of course, the s5 is getting it well before we are.
anyway,
I have been “happily” running 4.3 and just dealing with the bluetooth issues, found enough hacks/fixes for the wifi issue that i have been ok with it since getting 4.3 in November.
There are just too many unworkable issues of battery drain, overheating, losing apps, pics, etc etc etc for me to risk the update to 4.4.2.
HERE’S MY PROBLEM - Somehow, altho i'm fairly technical, the update finally got on my phone (after having kept it off for months) and for the past month or more, I've just been
dealing with the notification, putting it off for 24 hrs at a time.
I guess it finally decided not to allow me to do that any longer, and started the installation without permission. i stopped it by pulling the battery, but when i try to start in recovery mode just so i can clear cache and hopefully reboot without actually installing the new os, I cannot - it goes through (some of) the motions but when i let go of the power button as i should when it's running normally, and would get the options of factory reset, clear cache, et al, it just brings up the android bot and shows that it is continuing to install where it left off. I’ve done this numerous times.
Tried different methods of button-holding and other trouble-shooting based on massive searching, but always get the same result. and I can only pull the battery to stop it.
Am I stuck? Do I have to install now at this point?
I do not want to perform factory reset, guess I'd rather install the 4.4.2 s/w. (altho I can't even get to that option at this point)
Sincerely hope someone out there will respond – I've posted to multiple sites, and no one is responding - gonna have to turn my phone back on at some point soon...
Thanks in advance!!

You'll need to root the phone to stop the OTA notifications, it's all very easy.
Go to settings > security > allow installations from unknown sources, check the box
Go to www.towelroot.com
Click on the lambda, download and install the towelroot.apk
Click on "make it ra1n", reboot
Download "SuperSU" from the play store
Upon opening the app, it will prompt you to "update binaries". Do this using the "normal" option
Then download "Root Explorer" from the play store
Navigate to the system and system-priv app folders
In one of those folders you'll find "FWupgrade, apk" and "SDM.apk"
Delete those apk's and no more OTA updates:good:

Thanks, Josh, I appreciate your trying to help, but if you read the original post -
I CANNOT TURN ON THE PHONE, hence couldn't get to settings if I wanted to, BUT - -
It is not the notification that is the issue -
the phone has finally downloaded the OTA update and IS INSTALLING IT. (every time I turn it on)
I DO NOT WANT THIS UPDATE INSTALLED. (see prior post for the reason - it's terribly buggy update - worse than what I have)
I have to figure out how to halt it - when I try to start in "recovery mode", it doesn't give me the options
it normally would - I won't start in a normal recovery mode.
It continues the OS update.
I noted all this in the original post - I completely understand how to get rid of the update notifications.
One doesn't even have to root the phone to do this, you can just rename the SDM apk (like add .bak or something)
Do you have ideas how to stop the installation? How I can turn phone on in recovery mode?
(note the steps I've taken to do that are also in the original post)
I know there are many people out there smarter than me about this - hoping you guys can help...,

My bad, I would suggest booting into download mode and flashing the mk2 tar file with odin (3.09 recommended).
I didn't suggest renaming the file because it doesn't always work. Told my brother to do that on his Note 3 (no root method at the time) and it start downloading an OTA upon reboot one day.

When you say "boot into download mode" - you mean safe/recovery/download mode right?
(like when one holds (for this model) VolumeUpButton+PowerButton right?)
If that's the case, it doesn't allow me to boot that way. When I do that, it just skips right to
"Installing system update" (with the droid bot)
That's my problem.
Cannot access anything (without allowing the install). :crying:
Have also tried VolumeUpButton+PowerButton+HomeButton. Same.
Drat.
Looks like I may have to accept this OS.
Others I know that have deal with terrible battery drain issues (from 10 hrs heavy use on charge down to 2 hrs)

Like he said, download mode is Power+VolumeDown, press and hold.
UPDATE:
Well, never could get into download mode, so had to accept the OS update to KK 4.4.2
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, (I do have a fairly new model S4) and I didn't lose apps or contacts.
however,
The Battery Life is TERRIBLE after the 4.4.2 update! Some WiFi issues too.
Seem to have fixed WiFi (for now anyway)
Been searching around and recalibrated my battery, am trying a battery life extender app,
turned off a huge bunch of Samsung and Google apps that evid constantly "ping" and use battery.
It's been a little better, but not a lot.
Hope for 4.4.4 to be available soon (heard 4.4.3 is not a good variant either)
So, I bought a cheap non-branded chinese android smartphone. The handset was full of useless pre-installed apps and I just cleaned them out. I rooted the phone with the VRoot tool and it looked like everything goes well, untill I made a factory reset. I installed a new launcher, of course to the /system/app/ folder and it worked with it. The phone has some kind of startup setup (like the iPhones) which comes up after the reset, before the launcher could start. In this procedure, the last step is to tap on an android logo to begin using the phone. So for now, even if I tap it for a houndred of times, the thing won't start, it sticks in this setting window. I pretty much think, this happens because of the new launcher, because the app is probably looking for the old one. Now I am in the deep sh***t.
The followings are known:
- I can't use ADB to repair it, because the factory reset automatically unchecks the USB debugging.
- No firmware or recovery backup available to reflash the handset. The phone has a qualcomm MSM7225 CPU.
- I have the factory apps.
- The phone has factory recovery, so I can't install custom backup.
- I can enter in fastboot mode.
I think, this is all I know. Anyone has some advice to repair it?
Thanks is advance.
