Hi, this is my first post but i follow you from years
My i9100 fall down and since this moment i have the black screen, but the phone works (call, TOUCH PANEL, and all the other things). I would change the display, but there is no signal about lcd broken: glass is perfect, touch panel is perfect and lcd don't look like a broken one, but it's expensive and i want to be sure that it is broken. Are there some program that allow me to see hardware issue from the pc with usb, or i must buy the mhl adapter and try it to the tv?
sorry for my bad english and thanks for helps

I have replaced a lcd display a some time ago. The replacement LCD was working fine, but after a few months the replacement lcd display is showing a strange and wrong color gradient. It looks like old 16bit colors...
My hardware related question, could this problem be cable or lcd or mainboard related?
Yikes. I'd suspect a physical issue with the display. What do you see when you connect to an external HDMI screen?

When the hdmi cable is plugged between tablet and my tv, there is nothing wrong with output.
Today i have replaced also the flex cable, that did not help either.
Could the problem on lcd dispay be fixed? :'(

I'm speculating on the damage being with the LCD. I'm an IT professional (20+ years), so I do have a bit of experience here. One thing that's concerning is how the screen is separated, vertically, into the four bands. LCD screens are ridiculously delicate. I know from experience, having broken mine when replacing the digitizer glass.
LCD screens are typically very difficult/impossible to repair. It's cheaper/easier to just replace. I know this sort of sucks. Perhaps you can buy a replacement from a vendor that has a decent return policy. I'd use rubber gloves to handle the replacment (no fingerprints). Temporarily connect it. Problem gone? Then it was your LCD. Problem persist? (unlikely). Repack and return the replacement screen.
Good luck.

OK I have ordered a new lcd display, lets hope this will solve my problem.
Thanks everyone for your reactions.
Hello, my friend recently dropped her S3 from a very low height and the touch screen no longer responds and now looks like this
"attached picture"
I dont want to take apart the phone unless it is a possibility that it is just a loose connector. If it for sure needs a LCD replacement, I might as well send it off to samsung as it would cost the same for the part anyways and leave the phone a virgin.
Thanks for any input!!
not a loose connector, send it in
Hey guys, today I dropped my HOX+ (International), not for the first time, but this time the glass shattered.
Ofcourse I don't want to spend buckets for some professionals, I will try to do it on my own.
Only the glass broke, touch is still fine. Only thing I noticed are 2 little holes in the glass where
the colors seem a little bit orange. Now my questions are:
1.Is it possible to only swap the digitizer (glass) or is it too hard glued together with the LCD panel?
2.Are the orange spots (you can barely see them) a problem or the LCD panel or will they
be fixed with a new digitizer?
3.Which HOX models have the same screen as the X+, I heard the international HOX has the same,
is that true?
4.Are the LEDs of the HOX+ menu buttons red or is it just the digitizer? White buttons would look great, too.
5.Do I really need replacementkits for like 60 euro with tools and all that stuff or can I do it with my own tools
at home? My father is not a professional but he already fixed all kinds of electronic things, I got his help.
6.If replacing only the digitizer is possible should I do it or would u recommend to replace the whole screen,
that would also prevent dust in the screen.
7.In many videos they didn't shut down the phone so they could test whether it worked, is that recommended or can I break smth?
That's all I had to ask, tell me which mistakes you did or some tips etc.
Hope I get some fast responses, so I know which things to order, thanks in advance

first of all sorry for the screen.
1 . you can't change the glass only because its one part at all. like the glass, touch panel and the LCD are the same piece its too hard to separate them unless you have a IR Oven. so try the whole screen replacement. the international HOX screen is ok but the capacitive buttons will be white not red.
ps:don't try to open the chase with your own unless you know what you are doing . cuz i opened mine for like 20 times and every time i was breaking something in it. Mostly the power switch flex is real easy to be broken. good luck with that.
ps2: im suggesting you to buy the original spare of the hox+ screen and replace with that. you can do it with the box one but I'm not very sure the screen voltages are the same or compatible totally..
peace
So I am back again:
I took a new One X Plus Screen and built it in the phone..
I can turn it on, my PC detects the device, menu buttons are glowing. Now 4 problems:
-LCD is not working (digitizer works fine, I tested it with swipe to wake)
-vibrator thing is not working
-speakers not working
-menu button LEDs are glowing, but u can't see the buttons itself glow, only the LEDs are glowing
I am pretty sure that everything is plugged in how it should be done, any ideas?
Don't have a phone right now so fast help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Edit:
-vibrator thing is actually working, it was just blocked by something
-Menu buttons can't glow because there is something between LEDs and the screen, gonna fix that later
-speakers can't work because they are in the housing, sry for that mistake
Now the only problem left is the lcd, i am going to check again whether the lcd cable
is connected or not. If you have any ideas for other reasons why the lcd could not wok
please tell me.
Another question: under the menu buttons of my old screen were 3 transparent plastic pieces,
at first I thought it were the leds, but they are actually nothing electrical, just plastic pieces
glued on the screen. What are they for, do I have to keep them?
Hi All
Just started to buy up some old (spare or repair) I9100 phones with the hope of getting at least one which would work fully. I now have the final product but still no working screen! The screen I have looks perfect but shows nothing, I've tried the following:
Shine torch on screen to see if the LCD is damaged (nothing)
putting the screen on a second S2 (nothing, but it is not known if the second one actually works beyond making the right noises on start up)
Cleaned off all the connectors
I really don't want to take the screen off the frame so I wanted to know if anyone knows about testing/fault finding on the LCD with a multimeter type set up, like maybe a pin out or test points. Failing this I'm thinking of selling it all back on, so with that in mind does anyone have any advice on the IMEI and what to advertise.
oh and I've got some reasonable images of the LCD connector and some of the resistors which can be seen through the viewing ports in the frame for possible continuity tests.
Thanks in advance.
Hi!
I have a PX3 unit with MCU HA 3.40 (not a dasaita one, maybe a clone) and it has 6.2 screen with a 800x480 resolution. I "got tired" of this screen, it is small, I am getting older , and I would like to replace it with a bigger one , 7 inch or 9 or 10.1 and with better resolution of course, 1024x600. I can made mods, I am just asking for some advise and sourses of knowledge which is plenty in this forum and thanks in advance for it!
I removed the front panel of the HU. It is connected to the main board with a ribbon. The front panel has an electronic sircuit and the lcd and touch screen is connected to it. I found that the lcd panel is 60 pins and the touch screen is 6 pins. On the back of the front panel there an electronic panel with the circuits and chips of the physical buttons (not touch buttons) and there is also a 40 pin connector (empty) and the lcd screen has a 2 pin cable with red and black color.
I saw some youtube videos of disassembling some new cheap car units with 1024x600 resolution, one with a 7 inch 40 pins ribbon and one with a 10.1 inch 60 pins ribbon and the 2 pins cable. So am thinking either of buying one of them and replace all the front panel or buy only the lcd and the touch panel and make a new "cover" for my car unit .... I don't bother with the physical buttons, I 'll find a way or modding them... But I have some questions:
1. Are these lcd panels and touch screens of the new cheap car units combatible with my unit?
2. Is my 40 pin connector working on MY unit or only the 60 pins one?
3. Is the 6 pin touch screen a "universal" common interface for these car units?
4. What is this 2 pin red/black cable? power for what?
I attach some fotos of my unit. Every suggestion is welcome!

Reply with an update if you sent ahead with the screen swap. I'm also curious if they are cross compatible? I have a 9inch 8227L Demo and the gps antenna wasn't working so the seller sent me the same model headunit but with a 10inch screen and upon hooking up the 10inch, Amp chip wasn't connected right or it was faulty. Anyways my plan now was to swap the 9inch working headunits screen with the 10inch. All the connections look the same and if I can swap out the board from the 9 and put it in the ten I will. I just haven't found to much info about it I can or not... Another idea I had was maybe try to disconnect the amp chip from the 9inch and solder it into the 10inch? Do you have any ideas if either of those ideas would work ?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried to re-solder the pins on the amp?

No I've yet to try that. The reason being is because it looks as if the one pin that wasn't touching the board (or soldered incorrectly to begin with...) Shorted out and that pin/leg looks a little burnt now. Also it looks as if maybe possibly there wasn't enough Thermal Conductive paste too?? Just a guess though. ?
