S-ON? S-OFF? If you're S-On make sure you're selecting the option in Aroma installer for S-On that will write PH98IMG to SD for installation.

Can you get a logcat of it?
For me, it kept saying that all the system services were dying.

@clmowers
Try a rom flash without gapps after data/system wipe. Won't need to reflash your boot.img.

What the OP is experiencing isn't a boot.img issue.

I was also having a similar issue.
Interestingly, it would only happen after I restored my apps in System Tuner (coming from cm10).
First all the system processes would force close, and after a reboot, a logcat said that all the processes were dying.

Yeah see, I don't ever restore system apps and never have a problem with any rom/kernel combination.

Wouldn't get to the boot ani if the boot.img wasn't flashed.
He was probably having a similar issue as mine.

You know i was having the same problem with an earlier version of counter shrike but i was on GB Firmware. I installed it without the GB Patch accidentally and it worked fine! Dunno if this will help.

Hey all sorry for the delay in response. Never got the notification. What the problem was is I am s-on and I wasn't removing the boot.img from the ROM. Once I did that and flashed it. It booted

It does the update then when you reboot it gets stuck at the white htc screen for ever. Not sure what he did is even fixable im used to the samsung phone and we just odin back. I have tried to reinstall his cwm and flash the ruu thru there but same result. He was rooted running bamf and he still has s-off even after flashing ruu. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated and to save time hit me up on gtalk @ [email protected]. Thanks fellows.

That would have been to easy...lol. nope sure didnt!
Wow fail on the no backup! I'd try to reboot into recovery, load a new rom on the SD and try to flash that.
What did he use to gain root?
Can you verify he still has s-off?
Bootloader version?

Do a system wipe, cache and dalvik. Then try to reinstall a rom, not the RUU.

I wish more people would stop flashing roms in Rom manager. Reboot to recovery clear data, cache, davlik cache, hell format system while you are at it, wipe it all 3 times for good measure. I have always followed the same steps from day 1 and never any issues with roms other than known bugs. Another thing when something doesn't go right don't just flash with no reguard to your device. If something does not work try to clear everything and reflash again. If that does not work clear everything and flash your backup (yes you should always make a back up) rant over.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button
Is your problems resolved?

[q] please help!!

OK... EVO LTE that I was able to unlock bootloader, but remained s=on because I did it after the update to 4.1 sense. I flashed a new rom and everything booted up fine, the phone allowed me to set all my accounts etc... I then realized that I could not get my WIFI or Camera to work, so I assumed that I had a bad flash, bad rom or something just didn't go right. So, I flashed the Miklatte rom... Everything seemed to go ok... but, same issue! When I would try and connect to WIFI it would error out... when I would try and use my camera, it would flash open for a quick second and close the camera app.
So, at this point I tried to clean the phone by wiping everything I could possibly wipe and do this all over again with a rom that I have read has working camera and WIFI for sure! So I downloaded the CleanRom De and tried to flash this one after wiping everything about 4 times. Then I ran into problems!!! I could no longer mount USB because it said I must format the drive... I ended up doing so because I thought that I bricked my phone! It allowed me to format and I placed the flash of CleanRom on there.... I was then able to install the rom! When I rebooted the phone after flashing rom, I now have CleanRom running... although... I now have no google apps or internet that work!! I thought it was strange that the phone did not ask me to add my accounts... so I tried adding my google account and it won't allow me to input any information.
What should I do??? I sincerely thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!

Use fastboot to flash kernel or the flash image app. Viper's Kernel installer seems to fail for some reason

I apologize... I'm not sure I understand what you mean by flashing kernel or the flash image app.... So does that mean I can download the image of viper? sorry I don't understand... Thank you again for any help!!
There is a flash image app for pc that will flash the kernel for you but I'm not too familiar with how to use it. It seems very easy from what other users say. You can extract the boot image from the Rom and put it in adbtools or SDK and open a command prompt in the folder, type fastboot flash boot boot.img.

I am able to flash the boot.img from viper through sdk tools but once I reboot, the phone pauses on the HTC quietly brilliant splash screen... What am I missing here? The flash of the boot.img took like 2 seconds...
sending 'boot' (6188 KB)... OKAY [ 1.436s]
writing 'boot'... OKAY [ 1.432s]
finished. total time: 2.869s
Is there another step I should be doing??

You could try meanrom instead, I switched to viper and had a similar bootloop with no access to a pc. I still had meanrom so I flashed back, installed flash GUI and used it to flash viper kernel and then flashed everything else, that seemed to work

Dude, u know with S-ON and hboot 1.15 up u need to flash kernel separately for the rom to work right right?
Try installing meanrom, it has the kernel auto-installer. Or use flashGUI(app from playstore) to flash kernels with other roms.

[Q] stuck in bootloop

Hi,
I have a very strange problem now (at least for me).
First some facts about the phone: It's unlocked Virgin Mobile phone, S-off, rooted, and has a usable 4ext recovery installed.
I also did some days ago when 4ext was installed a backup before trying anything else.
After that I tried different ROMs and most of them booted fine after flashing, and I used the last 2 days a JB 4.3 ROM until I found problems with the camera and wanted to see how this is for one of the other ROMs I tried before.
But after try to flash another ROM, it was stuck with on the HTC logo (the same ROM I flashed before without any problems, and of course after wiping all internal partitions like always). Also flashing any other ROM didn't help - even restoring the backup from the original ROM didn't solved this. Only using fastboot from the computer to write the boot image changed the hanging on th HTC logo in a boot loop now - and still no usable flashing is possible.
Does anyone has any ideas what the reason for this could be and how it can be solved to have a working phone again?
Thanks!

Maybe your sd card is corrupted. Try another card if you have one around
What hboot?
Try wiping everything, then reboot recovery, wipe everything again
Then try and flash again
If all else fails try ruu through bootloader, you will still have s off

It's hboot 1.50.5050
The hboot was only changed at the beginning after getting s-off. With this hboot all the ROMs I try now were working before.
However, for the original restore maybe this version could be a problem (hboot 1.58 was on the phone before), but should be no reason for the other ROMs to fail.
Try wiping everything, then reboot recovery, wipe everything again

Well, this works!
So far I wiped everything but then installed directly the ROM after it without a reboot. No I did like you proposed - wipe, reboot, wipe, flash - and it works again.
Is there a reason why it hasn't worked directly after wiping and needed a reboot between?

Just in case for the next time:
I can only find RUU for Sprint but not VM - do you have a link to a file for a VM phone?
Thanks a lot for the help!
Glad it worked, don't know why but there must have been an issue with recovery
Here is the pg86img I use for vm.
https://db.tt/eBcYZ7yu
Place on root of your sd and rename pg86img.zip
Reboot to bootloader and accept update
This will give you stock Rom and recovery and hboot...s off stays
So if you want to flash again, all you need to do is flash recovery...no unlocking necessary

[Q] Flashing Recoveries

I was on TWRP 2.6.3.0 and just flashed CWM 6.0.3.6. I was having random FCs on TACHYON and wanted to see if CWM might help. Do I need to wipe anything after flashing a new recovery? Thanks.

No you don't need to wipe anything after flashing a new recovery. What force closes were you getting?

Phone randomly shuts down. I get a black screen and can't reboot unless I pull the battery. It usually won't fully boot unless it is plugged into a charger or PC. I had a problem with battery drain and overheating. I did S-Off and went through all of R3v3nt3ch's procedures to return to stock and reload all signed RUUs and OTAs. Then flashed TACHYON. The battery drain/overheating problem seems much better. There were no FCs at first, but they are getting more frequent. Just had one and my battery is at 80%.

If your recovery is the "cause" of your force closes, then after you install the new recovery, you need to do a complete wipe and reinstall the ROM and setup manually... If recovery is the "cause" of your issues, it is in the flashing of the ROM that is problem, not the actual recovery itself, that is the issue.
To be honest, those issues sound more like you need to S-OFF and clean flash everything from first RUU forward... it is not the most logical approach, but it seems to work for people having "weird" issues that don't seem to have a real cause.
I just did all of that.
Thanks

Your recovery isn't in use when you're booted into a rom, that's not what is causing your FC's unless as noted the ROM didn't install correctly.

As far as a I know those all in one kits still run the same fastboot flash command under the covers so I don't know how that could cause an issue. It's basically a GUI that runs the commands for you, not a big fan of them because you never learn the actual commands.

[Q] Viper redline rom reboots

So I found another thread like this but couldn't seem to find an answer. I am new to rooting and wanted to put the viper rom on my phone. But after I install it the phone just keeps rebooting, it will get to viper and then flash my lockscreen and go straight to a reboot. So steps I did to get the rom.
First I went to fast boot and fastboot flash boot boot.img. Then I went into recovery (I have 4ext) activated smart flash and factory restored/wiped my phone. Lastly I installed the zip file from recovery window. I have s-on but that shouldn't matter the way I did it right? I am not sure I did everything right but I have done smooth criminal on my phone and that worked fine, just that my wifi radio stopped working which is weird. Any help would be appreciated I am a noob =]

Try some other ROM. If the phone boots fine, try Viper again, but don't flash boot.img before, just wipe and flash from recovery. And make sure smartflash is turned on
