Works fine for me, don't know if it's better than the gmail app, but since i use hotmail, yahoo and gmail i work with social hub cause it incorporates all of them.
did you set up the email correctly? Only exchange (or imap-idle) supports push
who is your email provider?

Gmail is a good app but has few issues, for example attachment downloading, sending email takes longer sometimes and many more.
Social Hub is the only perfect email app in Android. i have used stock email in My HTC Hero and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, which was so annoying, used to freeze, used to bring up same emails several times as new emails.
I have also used DroidMail and K9Mail.
They has exact same issues as Stock email.
Social Hub is the only perfect email application for Android at the moment.
Android Email support is no where near Nokia messaging and Windows.
Android simply doesnt care about email app because of Gmail
Android support for multilanguages is also poor.

I second that. Its really annoying that I can't find an good email application, even on my Wave the stock bada email app was better. Anyway hope they will improve both GMail and Social Hub client asap.

can't help you with that sorry, i only use the samsung email app for hotmail..
Look for exchange settings if they exist.. otherwise try the yahoo email app from the market
Am I the only person that hates the Gmail App from the market and would rather use the email app?
Right now I've got both a Samsung Galaxy Gio running CM7 and an LG Eclypse (aka MyTouch Q) running CM9 and for both of them I far prefer e-mail to gmail. Although they're very similar as far as the basic UI goes, I find that the gmail app has quite a few problems with attachments and images. Sometimes it will show me the text of an email for about 2 seconds and then go blank white. I have none of these problems with E-Mail.
I just want to see who else is like-minded on this... Thoughts? Comments?
I used to have the white display issues on both Gmail and Email.
I found that if I force closed the app and started it again, the problem disappeared.
I haven't had this problem again since moving to JB.

You'll love K9-Mail. It's based on the original Android email app.
I have to send attachments through my gmail app because my android mail has problems sending attachments via Microsoft Exhange Server....

GMail is a lot better. It groups all emails with same subject in 1 line. It's huge advantage
I like the android one, its a lot more simple. Gmail sometimes take forever to sync, I gave up on that thing a long time ago.

I've used K-9 Mail for almost as long as I've had Android devices and have not once looked back. Seriously, try it out if you haven't already.
So folx, tell me which one do you prefer and why?
Im currently using Gmail app, but i wanted to ask for your oppinion.. Im in dillema between gmail app and stock email app for @gmail.com mails..
Thanks
In stock email you can attach all types of files. Which is impossible in gmail app that offer to attach only a video or a picture.

Other than that ? Can you decrease font in stock app ?
i use stock app because of other site's mail account.
but using gmail app seems to be nice, too
stock has support for air view (awesome), multiple accounts (gmail, yahoo, aol, etc), nice widget
Well, one thing that is keeping me off the stock is following :
I have student email on my university... And i merged that with gmail acc, and it is set up on gmail account so when i go compose new on gmail i can choose from which account to send... I cant do that on stock email app
R: Stock e-mail vs Gmail app
I have attached several times non-video, non-photo files, just using total commander as backend.

I don't get much time to play with my phone, but if I had time I'd uninstall that crappy Gmail app.
I can't say a single advantage of it over the stock email app. I like the email sent notification of stock email app if that's an advantage, I like smooth multi touch it provides, I like how the body of an mail is formatted and so on so on...
That update of Gmail app have saved it from at least 10000 uninstallation, if that's the word, Lol.

You've gotta be kidding me right?
Gmail 4.2.1 is the very definition of smoothness.
Stock email app is choppy as hell, even in this monster of fast and smooth phone.
Don't get me wrong, with the new MA5 update, stock email is much smoother than before, but still pales in comparison to Gmail
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Two differences that I know of:
1. The gmail app syncs chats but the stock email app doesn't.
2. The email notification generated by gmail when a user receives a ping when he or she is offline is synced by the gmail app but not by the stock app.

Hi
How to remove or disable gmail app? i dont want to use it
I came from iPhone and i've noticed problems in both apps.
- Gmail: No unified inbox, conversation view can be better (like iOS stock Mail app)
- Mail: No conversation view at all (and it's definitely not a good thing) and no push mail from gmail
In my daily usage i use gmail for the push service and the conversation view. But i think that iOS mail app and Gmail for iOS are better.
I've used all the other mail clients for Android and every app has some problem.

You can use the m.google.com exchange server, although I don't know how much longer that will exist.
I hate the black background on Stock Email, if you driving in car you will have problems to read, that is better on white background wit black fonts like on gmail app! So i would like only getting white background on stock mail app! Everything elese works (but surely, on my HTC ONE X) it`s much smoother! I´m on Omega 11 in moment!

I hate conversation view and that's why I disabled it in Gmail settings, maybe that's why I don't see conversation view in Gmail app as well. How do you enable conversation view in Gmail app?
And the stock email app has an option of conversation view. You can see it by pressing menu. However I don't know what it does as I haven't used it yet.
And the email client in iOS is way better than any Android client I've ever used.

You could use 'negative colours' under Accessibility. It'll make the background white. Just make a shortcut of Accessibility option which is accessible via Post key.
Also you could use the lighter email text mod of Xposed, not bad.

You can attach any file type in gmail.
If you have a file explorer installed, click attach picture, choose your file explorer as the method and then pick the file you want.
A bit dumb that you have to do it that way but it works. Lol.
I use each alternatively depending on who I'm emailing.
Also my gmail pushes mail just fine

I personally disabled the stock email app and replaced it with Aqua Mail.
I find it perfect for what I need.
Gmail app only has a problem: can´t attached all file types, so I´m using both aplications; gmail app only with gmail account and stock email with hotmail account to attached all file types.

Hello all,
Looking for a mail program that will receive mail from 3 to 5 accounts and filter it into a separate folder for each account.
Thanks,
John

Default email program allows multiple accounts, it keeps them in different folders.
Almost as complex & hard to set up as Outlook, but satisfying in the end: K9 and Kaiten. You can swap config files between the two, so you can start with the free K9.

Ditto, it works very well. I use it on both my Note 10.1 2014 and my Note II. I've had up to eleven email accounts working on it without any problem. Although it keeps mail in separate folders it also includes a unifying inbox to make it easier to keep up-to-date will all accounts, this is something I found frustrating with Outlook in that it does not include a unifying inbox, thus on my desktop PC I've now switched to Thunderbird.
Count me as a big fan of aqua mail

cloud magic is awesome
TouchDown for smartphones and tablets is the best I have ever used. It is harder to configure compared to aquamail, but once it is set up, you will be happy. I currently use aquamail for my personals, and touchdown for business (office 365 account). I highly recommend it.

I personally use CloudMagic for my email needs (1 personal Gmal, one Google Apps Gmail for school, one Hotmail, and one Yahoo). It also supports office 365 accounts, exchange, iCloud, and IMAP accounts. You have separate folders for each within the app, as well as a unified inbox option. Its really smooth and very useful, as well as looking nice too

I agree, Nine is the best Outlook-esque email app I have used on Android. Very nice UI, crisp and modern, able to change fonts for outgoing messages, etc...
The stock Samsung email app is OK but robust it is not. If you want more consider AquaMail Pro. Free trial and a few bucks to own. Very good looking and powerful. Keep all of your email addresses in one spot.
I have no connection to the app other than I own and like it.

I agree Aquamail is quite nice IMO. Did not take long for me to get the pro version... For couple bucks it is well worth it.... Knowing also how much work is required to access exchange via ews the app is in fact cheap... Only complain is no sync with Outlook contact and calendar AFAIK.
Thanks for the heads up on this app that deserves it.
Cloudmagic is great too

If I require mail, contact and calendar sync with 3 Exchange accounts what is the best non stock email app for me to try? I have been hating the inaccurate notification style of the stock Samsung email app
Nine is my email app of choice. Plus it shows the exchange calendar in the stock calendar app.

+1 for Nine. I have been looking for a good Exchange Email App and when I found Nine I knew I hit gold! It is by far the best Exchange Email app around... and I have tried many.

If MS Exchange compatibility is your prioirity you cant beat Touchdown. It is not free however. But you can get a free trial to try it out. For me its well worth the price.
Yes, Cloudmagic. I just went through and tried most of them, and Cloudmagic I've been using for about a week. Aquamail did look good, I just didn't have the time to go through and learn all the functionalities of it. I'll probably give it another try once I'm able to spend more time learning it.

But Gmail doesn't have push notifications
Is it only the included mailapp (and calendar) from Samsung that works with the tab after papergarden? I assume you know what I'm talking about, no? On videos from YouTube I believe the widgets covering the calendar and mail widgets are yellow and green.
If third party mail/calendar apps doesn't work together with said widgets, isn't it better to stick with the stock apps?
No way.. Blue mail is the one. They will repond quickly also if you send in ab issue. Plus its works constantly for push on mulitple accounts. Stock for some reason goes to sleep and emails come in up to 1 hour late. I thought google would have fixed the isue from note 3. Not every since they stopped supporting exchange mail settings 2 years ago.
who runs blue mail? There no info who they are?
I like mailbox, perfect for me.
type mail
It's fairly new but I love it I think it's better than aquamail pro, I have them both downloaded but I think Type Mail is alot faster. Did I mention completely free.
