Config: I sync my contacts w/Google Contacts and am running Jellybean 4.2.1 on the Nexus 4.
Issue: A husband and wife I know share the same email address but have different cell #s. Android refuses to show the wife in my contact list as long as she shares the same email address with the husband. If I remove the email address for the wife, she shows up in my contact list. The moment I add it back, on the next sync, she disappears from the contact list.
Questions:
1. Is there any way to stop android from marking a contact as a duplicate if the cell # differs but the email is the same?
2. Is there anyway to override the duplicate detection for a specific contact?

Multiple phone numbers home/work/other
Multiple email addresses
Multiple postal addresses
Automatically puts any hotmail addresses in a separate 'Information' section on the contact page
Contact photo
Birthday and anniversary
Organisation / job title
Any of the main items are clickable and perform the actions of calling/texting/emailing and searching for address on google maps.
Hi,
I added the Exchange Server of my company to my SGS3, and calendar and contacts sync perfectly. If I search for a person in the contact list, it even shows exchange contacts as well, and I can call them directly without having them in my personal contact list.
Here is the problem:
If one of my coleeges calls me, I only see the phone number, not his name. All the info such as name, phone number, email ect. are available on the server. I'm only able to see the name of the dialer if I search for the person on the exchange server and chose to Add Contact to the phone. But I don't want to do that one by one, to have all 500+ ppl from my company saved in my contacts list.
Any suggestions?
No one uses Exchange Server?

Bro,
All along when a call comes the phone searches for the entry in the phonebook only and not on the exchange contact list. the same is true for iphone and any other phone.

I was just thinking, that my exchange contacts are already synced onto my phone, so the info is available on the phone. It doesnt have to make a server lookup or anything.
It shows the names of Facebook contacts, who are synced to the phone in the same way, so why not Exchange contacts?
I'm running a Galaxy Nexus, Jelly Bean.I just noticed after a long while that my avatar in the Gmail app was incorrect. After trying to change it, I noticed that clicking the contact doesn't bring up the local "me" contact so I removed it in hopes that it would sync correctly. Now clicking the contact says "contact does not exist" and asks if I'd like to add them. Obviously the email and names match, since it's the google account I use on the phone. Is there a way to get it to properly sync with the local "me" contact on the phone, or do I have to add a second contact of myself into google contacts?
I've got a Nexus S running 4.0.4 and the emulator running 4.1.2. I'm experiencing the exact same thing on both:
I have two exchange accounts configured in the EMAIL application. When I view the unified inbox and compose a new email, I am unable to select the non-default FROM address (clicking the FROM address does nothing). In order to send an email from the non-default, I have to enter the inbox for that account THEN compose a new email - requires several more clicks than necessary.
I have asked several friends and some say they do have this option - however they are all on carrier customized roms.
Does anyone have any insight?
Thought I'd give this a single bump to see if anyone has any insight. Thanks!
Hey guys,
I have something weird going on. I have my main Gmail account set up on my phone with different send-as addresses. I also have a .edu address set-up as one of my send as addresses, but whenever I try to use it from my phone it always switches to main Gmail account address.
(I also have my account setup so that all the different send-as addresses also have their emails coming into my one account, but I don't think that matters)
The only way I found that my phone be able to send emails from my .edu address was by setting my .edu address as my default replying address via my computer, but I want to be able to select email addresses to send from and not have that (my .edu account) be my default replying-address. If anybody knows a workaround please let me know.
(I have a Galaxy Nexus with 4.2.1 JB and the Gmail app that comes with it as well)
