1. is it possible for the eris to get motorola blur? i dont know if its possible i just would like to actually try it out without having to pay hundreds to get a devour.
2. if rumors are true the official update for 2.1 is going to be released today but i'm not holding my breath. i'm running the latest 2.1 ROM that was released on here like 2 weeks ago and i love it i do but i'm just tired of the bugs and such and i know an official release will fix most of the issues. is it possible to update my phone manually when it comes out on the verizon or HTC or will there be another way.
thanks for all the help

updating manually is an option, but if you just wait until someone ports the "official OTA" over to a new rom, you won't have to lose root. As far as motoblur goes, I'm sure its possible, but the demand for such a port isn't very high, so I doubt anyone is even looking into it.
ps. I had to LOL a little and the words "latest 2.1 rom" and "2 weeks ago" in the same sentence. Most of the big boys have updated their roms 2 or three times in the last week alone! LOL
lol yeah. anywho how do i go about manually updating it? just get it off htc or wait to get the update message?
This is not development related.

..should we be seeing gingerbread soon, or can we update from the DX update?

Rumor has it we will get the gingerbread update in Q3. Bad things will happen if you flash the DX gingerbread update.
a 2.3 update would be beneficial to both verizon and moto... with other droids getting the update recently/soon it would make sense to expect it at least within the next couple months. the best news is that they already have motoblur working on 2.3, so this should make the update alot easier for the DX2... we sit and wait, as always.
It's rather asinine that the DROID X2 this late in the game did not include Android 2.3.3/4 any high-end(ish) phone that comes out this late with 2.2 is just stupid, Thunderbolt, Charge etc. etc. These carriers are always B*t*hing about there networks and data but they just gotta push all that data to thousands of the said updates to the phones. makes no sense.
The X2 does not have GB because GB is having problems on the dual-core Tegra 2 chipset. I talked with a rep this evening that was pretty knowledgable on the situation and she stated that we most likely won't be seeing GB on the X2 in the foreseeable future, a few months at the least.

I am also very curious about this. I've been harassing P3Droid on Twitter. Since he has inside sources at Moto (or so I've heard) someone should ask him what he thinks...
TBH plans to develop for this as soon as they get their hands on one...
I just wish this phone were more stable to start with. Swapping between wifi and 3G is a lag fest, pulling the phone from either the car dock or multimedia dock is a crap shoot. Often times it'll get confused and just give a blank screen when swapping between apps, and it'll require a reboot before the whole thing runs smoothly again.
I'm hoping a clean GB install will fix these problems because I really want to keep the device.
I picked up a Razr Maxx (CDMA-Verizon) a couple of weeks ago.
I was enjoying a Rezound on ICS before that, but I'm quite happy with the Maxx.
I'd flash a rom if anything looked "safe", but it seems as if folks are trying to "guarantee" they get the OTA and seem worried about getting back to gingerbread.
I'm rooted and on the latest stock from Verizon. Does it make more sense to sit on my hands or is there a decent leak/ROM that's worth jumping on that is "safe" before the ICS OTA?
I get my phone today but it will stay stock until the update. Not being able to get back is not worth the risk imo

I put several ROMs on my D2, but not one on my Razr. It works just fine and lag free without one. The only incentive is to have ICS early, but it should be here before long. I've contemplated about flashing an ICS ROM, then again it seems safer just to wait it out.

Stay stock. If you read through these forums you'll find a lot of posts from people having issues with the leaked ICS builds and trying to return to GB. It isn't worth the hassle IMO. If you want ICS early, sign up for the soak tests. Moto does them before sending out any updates. I've been through several soak tests now starting with the DX. Hope this helps.

Just wait
The issue with people not being able to return back to GB from ICS, is that people don't read warnings like "NOT ABLE TO GO BACK TO GB"
There are roughly 6 leaks out. The first 2 are able to go back to GB, the rest aren't. I'm on one that is able to go back to GB. I flashed the ICS leak a few weeks ago, because I knew ICS wouldn't be here till mid June or late June. I couldn't stand Motoblur on GB anyway, I actually like it on ICS.
If I were you, I'd just stay GB. ICS is just around the corner (hopefully) and theres no point in getting on an ICS leak, then having to delete all your files to get the official OTA.
I've used both Black Widow ICS and Eclipse v1.3 and they both work great. right now, I'm running Eclipse and loving it. Also, you can go back to gb if you use the moto tools and whatnot. just a pain to do so.
Just felt like mentioning that you now have another new owner of the Droid Incredible 4G LTE. I finally got it yesterday and am enjoying it greatly. Coming from the original Droid Incredible, this is a huge step up. The slightly larger size takes a little getting used to while typing, though.
I waited for a long time for this phone to come out, and I'm excited to finally have one. Not having posted in a long time on XDA, I decided to get a fresh start with a new account. I've been monitoring the situation with S-OFF on this phone, and can't wait to hear from andy and the S-OFF team that they've achieved it so we who bought the phone more than 2 weeks after it came out can get rooted!
I prefer Sense over stock Android, and with all the barely- or half-completed Sense 2 and 3 ROMs for the Inc, I primarily stuck to using the stock HTC rooted, de-odexed ROMs by wildstang83. Sense 4 is a huge improvement over Sense 1. Also, you have to love Ice Cream Sandwich and its ability to disable all the apps you won't ever use that still take up space (which is a great reason to get rooted, to delete them permanently). The last ROM I sampled from the Inc forum was a very sluggish, not even half-working beta of Jellybean, and while there was no HWA, it was still an interesting experience with Google Now, and I can't wait for the Inc 4G to get Jellybean, though, if it's anything like the timetable on the OG Inc, it will be at least 6 months before the first incremental update (as it was for Eclair to Froyo, and 10 months for a broken version of Gingerbread).
Anyway, all I wanted to say was I'm excited to be here with this community that has worked quite well together this far, and I hope the cooperation continues.
Welcome aboard partner.
Do please post in the 'battery life experiences' thread after you've used your phone for a week or so.

Great to see ya IceDragon. Have patience with the S-Off situation it'll come eventually. Frankly, I'd run a Stock Inc 4g over just about anything else that is rooted right now. They just perform that well.
If ya need help with anything, just ask.

Ive been looking.....I cant find anything about the Dinc 4g
I love this phone, my grandma got my dinc 4g when I upgraded to the DNA (then returned it)
but as for the update....im sure its on its way, but not word at all about it, search google in about may and youll see more about it
My honest opinion on this matter is give up. I had the Rezound and waited for months and months just to receive ICS, which was a load of crap. I told a buddy about HTC phones being great and he bought the Incredible 4g (his 1st ever smart phone) and now I feel bad that I directed him towards HTC. I check online once a week hoping to give him some sort of hope on Jelly Bean and I haven't seen anything since December.
Last September I picked up a GS3. Love it, love Jelly Bean. Just recently updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. So my thought is SCREW HTC, love their phones, but HATE their slow response to updates. With the DNA out for a while now, I bet Incredible 4G doesn't see JB til September if even at all. So good luck.
*Edit: Forgot to mention, don't believe that crap that they are just working out all the bugs. Because after my ICS update for the Rezound, it was still buggy as hell. And the Data kept dropping, even after going through 2 more phones. It's a shame, HTC makes some really nice phones, they just suck at supporting them.

in my opinion, it's Verizon not htc that slows the updates.
my son-in-law and daughter both have the GSIII ON at&t-no updates for them either, still on 4.0.4

Good point. I would pin Verizon too, they do play favorites like how Motorola seems to get updates first. And how the GS3 update hit Sprint and T-Mobile first. But we choose Verizon because the network and unfortunately learn to live with all the B.S. from them.

yep yep
I like HTC and Verizon I knew about jellybean when I got this phone I knew this phone came with ICS so therefore expected to own a phone running ICS firmware until I purchased a new phone. If we receive jb then its a bonus and yay but I don't expect it even though I believe it should be mandated by Google that all OEM's and carriers work together to keep every phone as up to date as the hardware will allow.

Why not just hook him up with Cyanogenmod? It's pretty damn stable.

Have considered, but to be honest with you, I've only modded 1 phone, my original Rezound. Think it was the 2nd or 3rd ICS leak and just wasn't too happy with it. Then of course had that phone replaced a few times and never went back to rooting any phones.
And with his tech level I'd never tell him to go that route anyways. I'll just wait til his 2 years is up and push him towards Samsung. At least they make attempts at keeping their phones current. Like I said I did love HTC phones, but having a phone that is quite capable of an operating system (Yes the Rezound should have no issues running JB, nor should the Incredible 4g), and not doing the upgrade just lends to the theory that why should HTC update their phones, there's more money in selling you a new phone!!
