Ive been looking.....I cant find anything about the Dinc 4g
I love this phone, my grandma got my dinc 4g when I upgraded to the DNA (then returned it)
but as for the update....im sure its on its way, but not word at all about it, search google in about may and youll see more about it

My honest opinion on this matter is give up. I had the Rezound and waited for months and months just to receive ICS, which was a load of crap. I told a buddy about HTC phones being great and he bought the Incredible 4g (his 1st ever smart phone) and now I feel bad that I directed him towards HTC. I check online once a week hoping to give him some sort of hope on Jelly Bean and I haven't seen anything since December.
Last September I picked up a GS3. Love it, love Jelly Bean. Just recently updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. So my thought is SCREW HTC, love their phones, but HATE their slow response to updates. With the DNA out for a while now, I bet Incredible 4G doesn't see JB til September if even at all. So good luck.
*Edit: Forgot to mention, don't believe that crap that they are just working out all the bugs. Because after my ICS update for the Rezound, it was still buggy as hell. And the Data kept dropping, even after going through 2 more phones. It's a shame, HTC makes some really nice phones, they just suck at supporting them.

in my opinion, it's Verizon not htc that slows the updates.
my son-in-law and daughter both have the GSIII ON at&t-no updates for them either, still on 4.0.4

Good point. I would pin Verizon too, they do play favorites like how Motorola seems to get updates first. And how the GS3 update hit Sprint and T-Mobile first. But we choose Verizon because the network and unfortunately learn to live with all the B.S. from them.

yep yep

I like HTC and Verizon I knew about jellybean when I got this phone I knew this phone came with ICS so therefore expected to own a phone running ICS firmware until I purchased a new phone. If we receive jb then its a bonus and yay but I don't expect it even though I believe it should be mandated by Google that all OEM's and carriers work together to keep every phone as up to date as the hardware will allow.

Why not just hook him up with Cyanogenmod? It's pretty damn stable.

Have considered, but to be honest with you, I've only modded 1 phone, my original Rezound. Think it was the 2nd or 3rd ICS leak and just wasn't too happy with it. Then of course had that phone replaced a few times and never went back to rooting any phones.
And with his tech level I'd never tell him to go that route anyways. I'll just wait til his 2 years is up and push him towards Samsung. At least they make attempts at keeping their phones current. Like I said I did love HTC phones, but having a phone that is quite capable of an operating system (Yes the Rezound should have no issues running JB, nor should the Incredible 4g), and not doing the upgrade just lends to the theory that why should HTC update their phones, there's more money in selling you a new phone!!

Thinking about going to the Rezound. question..

Im coming from the HTC evo from sprint. Im on my way over to Verizon. Im interested in both the Rezound and the nexus...
Is there a reason to choose the REzound over the nexus? It doesnt seem like the Rezound has full root/s-off etc etc right? Is it a matter of time, or do they have this thing locked down?
Rezound have radio lock thats all
Rezound is faster and has alotttt stronger signal. Basically, HTC owns samsung

I was all about the nexus but after being burned so often by buying and trying to justify my purchase waited and was about to buy a rezound till I got it as a replacement and its awesome. I love this phone so far. Great camera, It's really quick, screen is amazing and its the perfect size

I came from the EVO as well. It was this or nexus, I chose this for the better camera and beats, which I can't go without now. Plus the free headphones. Only selling point of the nexus is ics but a senseless Rom gives a close experience which should get better in time. Plus sense 3.6 is cool and miui is in progress as well as sense 4.0

Came from Evo 4G on Sprint as well. Went through 2 Nexus's before giving up and getting the Rezound. Signal and call quality on the Nexus was horrendous. I would hear about every third word the caller was saying which made for some pretty interesting conversations.
The ONLY advantage to the Nexus is the ease of "tweaking" it but I un-locked, flashed a recovery, and flashed a rooted ICS Rom on my Rezound in about 10 minutes.
Get the Rezound ... NO BRAINER
IMHO
Edit: BTW ... The return rate of the Nexus is upwards of 20% according to my Verizon Rep. She told me she wished they would pull it off the market.
I came on over from the Evo 3d and I love the Rezound and coverage so much I've yet to root it. This phone has almost cured my flashism. Though I'm on vacation this week, I might get in on the rooting and madness on this side of town soon.

Thanks guys.. Im hesistant with the Nexus because IVe heard about samsung not rolling out updates etc etc as fast as they should.
Rezound vs GNex
I poured over this decision back in December. I opted for the rezound because it has an sd card slot and the GNex doesn't. The camera and processor are also superior. I have mine OC's to 1.8 GHz. It is saddled with s-on though. HTC allows users to unlock the bootloader but we cannot flash radios and kernels directly via recovery. It must be done in the bootloader or via fastboot. Not the end of the world but not as easy as an s-off device. This nut seems to be a tough one to crack too. A few devs have been at it since December but no joy
Once we get cm9 the nexus will be a thing of the past.

What do you mean by that?
editeD: lolwut I got it now haha fail.
Look, I'm not expert by any means, but I feel I need to chime in. I have owned both phones. The Nexus was probably the sweetest phone I thought I ever had.. Everything seemed to work flawlessly. After a few days I constantly had problems with the Battery, Signal strength and SOUND. Let me explain. ICS was awesome IMO. It worked great and was a really nice change. But that was the only thing that was nice on it. The roms that are coming out now for the Rezound by far make this the best phone I've ever owned. Speed, picture, ICS and I personally like Sense. SO for me to give anyone advice it would easily be GO REZOUND!!
BTW.. Ask this question in the Nexus forum, and I guarantee you'll get a different response. So basically, you need to go in the store, and give yourself 20 minutes to mess around with both phones. Just keep in mind that Samsung has a reputation as having terrible radios. Be sure to listen to the sound on both. And take a look at the resolution and clarity.. A few youtube videos should do it for ya! ALSO, the fact that you get a nice set of ear phones.
I just got the rezound last week and love it. I'm coming from a sensation 4g this is a lot better phone than that is. Plus now we have an ics leak that your phone doesn't have to be rooted is sweet. And when the official ota drops you can still update

Don't think. Just buy a rezound.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I faced the same decision, and I went for the Rezound. The camera, reception, and overall build quality of this phone is better than that of the Nexus. I really don't like Sense, and that almost made me go for the Nexus, but software is upgradable and hardware isn't. I'm currently running a senseless ROM (XTreme's), which isn't AOSP, but it's close. It seems like there is being progress with ROMs completely lacking sense (MIUI is being worked on and apparently has RIL in-tact), and once CM9 gets its RIL issues fixed, my phone will feel complete. Even without that, I am very happy with this phone. The screen is amazing, even when compared to a Samsung device (Nexus). The battery life isn't great, but it is an LTE device... I never get signal drops, and I'm always on 4G.
okay well with that being said, what do you guys loose not having s-off?

Not much. It makes it more difficult to flash kernels, but it is still relatively easy using adb or just your phone. You can't flash radios (well at least without being relocked), which I think is the major downside of s-off. Also, unlocking through the HTCDev method won't let you go back to complete factory stock (without the bootloader saying relocked), so if Verizon happened to check, they can see that you MAY have voided PARTS of your warranty (not a big deal).
hmm Seems like its too much bull**** to deal with...

It's really not that bad. Choose the phone you want to go with, but don't let that sway you too much. We may not have as many developers and ROMs as the Nexus, but we have some really great devs. And flashing ROMs and kernels really doesn't take noticeably longer without s-off, and becomes second nature
If you want stock ICS go Nexus.
If you want better screen, eventual Sense ICS (AOSP probably won't be possible until we can get s-off I think), and removable SD card go Rezound.
I've been a stock Android fan since the original Droid, but I've really grown to like Sense and Sense 4.0 looks even better. I do want an eventual AOSP.

[Q] Say goodbye to DX2?

Hey guys, i'm in an interesting position, and I could use some input. Right now i have the DX2, i bought it on release day (5/26/2011). I have this thing running fairly well, but it took a MASSIVE amount of tweaking to do. The phone still has its quirks, but overall it hasn't been terrible, just annoying. Today i was offered the opportunity to buy a Bionic for $100-$125. I also found out that since my dad is still using a basic phone from a few years ago, i can upgrade using his line. So here are the options.
1. Keep my DX2 and upgrade in January of 2013 (my upgrade date is 1/26/2013)
2. Buy the Bionic, put it on my line, and then update sometime after the above date (either on the date if i feel the need to, or once i get sick of the bionic)
3. Wait a couple months and get the Galaxy S3 when it (hopefully) comes out on verizon.
Thoughts? Ideas?
Wait for s3
I am taskforceZ
imo the bionic is just like every other moto phone.....locked down and useless(if you like modding your phone like i do, i LOVE my G-nex ) IF the sg3 comes to verizon (but somethings telling me it's not going to)but it should be a good choice nonetheless if it does.
I'd definately wait and see what happens with the S3. Verizon's exclusion upon release isn't a far out concept; we were left in the dust when the Note came out. But hey, we wont know until anything happens.
If you really would like something new and have the ability to work out another upgrade/ trade-in when the S3 comes out then by all means go for it. Your level of happiness is going to raise regardless of the decision you make
Personal I would also say wait to see if verizon would get either the S3 or possibly HTC one series. But since verizon seems to NOT get the more popular global phone like the S2 I have this funny feeling that neither the S3 or HTC one series will come to verizon. Which would be completely crap if they don't. Also personal i think it's BS that Verizon doesn't really have a more variety of and android phones outside of motorola. I'm going to wait it out tho since I really haven't been pledge with nearly the about of issues everyone gets. I have rooted my phone but haven't flashed anything and I never had the music skipping issues or rebooting it might run a little slow at times but not often.

I have an update coming up here soon in about like 6 months. I'm just waiting to see what comes out. I don't know if you care but if you call them, complain they can move your guy's upgrade dates up a year. Worked for me, and a couple more in that one topic about us trying to get new phones.
Also, is the S3 even coming to Verizon? Any leaks or anything?

Tons. Droid Life and Android Central have been keeping up with all of the leaked photos and info concerning the S3. A good percentage of all info obtained looks pretty sketchy, but Droid Life got a couple pics yesterday that look halfway believeable.

How many will be switching to the GS3 from your Tbolt?

Obviously Samsung's new device(GS3) will change smartphones for sure. Once it releases, how many people here are switching to it once they have an available update?
I have until about March to make my decision. Im on Verizon and dont plan on changing, so i plan on choosing the 32gb model for only $50 more than the 16(worth it in my opinion because i can double that amount thanks to HTC leaving us a wonderful 32gb card w/ tbolt)
Most of the specs impress me, although im kind of wishing that a couple new 'top of the line' 4.0 devices release, just to give me more options, because honestly the S3 is the only phone on verizon(will be on verizon) that truely impresses me (Galaxy Nexus= no micro sd which puts 32gb card to no use, and cameras significantly better on S3).
Well, let me know! How many people plan on making the switch? Also, why or why not??

Pre-ordered first day love my thunderbolt been with it since day one but ready for something new plus my USB charging port no longer works and my volume rocker up crapped out on me ( dropped phone ) with those two reasons and the fact that I can't flash radios its time for an upgrade

True, sounds like your thunderbokt has seen its day.. i just wish my upgrade date was available sooner, 7 more months with my phone might be alittle harder than i thought. the possible ics update might bring a new flavor to the phone, but i am also getting tired of it, as much as i love it

i would if i can keep my unlimited data plan, but thanks to verizon i think i will be with my thunderbolt for a long time.
I'm switching, luckily I had an upgrade available on one of my other phones on my account. And I was able to keep my unlimited data.

ordered one for my wife to replace her thunderbolt....her phone constantly freezes and apps are always crashing. she'll be much happer with the SGIII
i will be also. my upgrade is in august and i cant wait. im sure since i am not preordering i wont even be able to get one for months but oh well. it was either this or the nexus one which id much rather have the gs3 any day... im excited just hopefull theyll have some in stock
I know it's too late, but this info might help others down the road. I got 2 T-Bolts the day they came out last March and my upgrade date on both was something like November 12th. I spoke to 3 different reps at various points and told them all I am a long time Verizon customer and do not want to lose my unlimited data. I want my upgrade dates moved up so I can get 2 GSIII's now and keep my data and all 3 were fine with moving my upgrade date up--no checking with a supervisor or anything.
I know a lot can depend on who you get, but sometimes if you just call and ask you may be surprised.
Hope this works for someone moving forward.
they definately did not help me. they wouldnt push up my upgrade date from august 8 to now. sucks you would think after being a verizon customer for 12 years they may try to help you out a little bit more. it just makes you not want to give them your money at all but damn i wanna get rid of my bolt finally and get a gs3 for something new. the only reason i truly rooted my thunderbolt was to get better battery life and some customization of course.... damn i want a new phone
I advise anyone considering a GS3 from Verizon,

Haha, yeah no real big surprise I suppose, though it was the first Samsung device I can think of to get such "special" treatment.
Despite Verizons' efforts to lock it down, it only took devs a day to achieve Root and recovery for it.
So I don't suppose that should stand in anyone's way of their decision now.
Update: still have 6 months with this thing, but i was able to preorder a nexus 7! Hopefully that keeps me occupied. Latest android software, pure google, quad core... I think i can last 6 more months

It'll get bypassed in no time. I wouldn't worry about it. So far the only thing this Tbolt has going for it is the camera and music software. SRS with Sony Xtreme Bass Ear buds sounds pretty awesome. That aside this is my second Tbolt in 6 days. My first one did a reboot on Saturday as I left Verizon so I figured it was just a fluke or update. The second time was when I was on my way home from college. Then Tuesday it boot looped then just sat at the HTC boot logo.
Yesterday I bought the GS3 (full retail, ouch!), and honestly I don't think it's that great. Yes it looks great, and the display is awesome, but I got so used to the awesome battery life of the TB with the extended battery, that I took it for granted. I barely used my phone today and I got down to 15% after a full day, whereas my TB would have been around 60-75% remaining. I also noticed that because it's so thin and slick, it's difficult to easily hold without it slipping.
I'm actually leaning towards returning the GS3 and going back to the TB.

Just ask, tell them that your not happy with your phone and could they just replace it with the s3. The worse that can happen is they tell you no.

no, I was an evo banned-embargo waiting pre order. at the time, everyone was still saying how amazingly awesome the one-x line was and that the siii was gonna be "just an sii updated with the newest chips," and after playing with everyone's giii's, and the horrible software on this evo, I'm desperate to make the switch. I'm so sad too, as I've always been htc over Samsung's stuff, til this generation. that siii is a bad boy!
I know they will replace my evo for me, but I'd so rather find a way to switch instead of a new updated-and-boot-locked evo. I just don't want to go try, have them say no and note my account, then if I find a way to switch before my 2 years,I can't because my account already shows I was trying to switch before.
try craigslist... Im switching mine tomorrow for a gs3.. Some people still love the EvoLTE and hate the gs3.. So you might get lucky like I did..
If your are outside of the 14 days you have to return the device you cannot exchange it.

I do somewhat know how to program it,a lot from what's on xda here... did the button re mapping, the wifi fix, rooted.. but what else do you guys mean to program it so I can use it more pleasantly? cm10 isn't done yet, at least not without working camera. the htc camera/imaging isn't extracted yet. I haven't found a fix for the non-working-right multitasking on this thing, and I've recently had the sense take forever to re start whenever I press home! if someone can point me to a complete aosp rom or fixes how to unleash the awesome sauce, PLEASE let me know! I see a lot coming on the future but when?
plus, like I said, still need the screen fixed... and I know I'll get one with the ota update and have to USSR the htc boot loader thing... I'd prefer not to.
jeez, yes I just read this post I typed,I know it sounds like a whiney sob rant, so let me stop here. just frustrated... I just WANT to love the evo like I did my og evo!
CM10 has a working camera. No, it isn't ImageSense, but neither was your OG EVO you're longing for. CM10 is incredible for its age, and rapidly improving. It has working LTE now! This thing is only missing a few small things, and is already daily driver material. Or...
Run Viper4G man, it is incredible. Smooth as CM10 with amazing tweaks. Or the SuperLTE base collaboration project thingy. Or MeanROM. Or Stock with Goodies. Overclocking using EvilZ or Enoch does wonders for smoothness. We have Google Now working on ICS. I mean really, what does the S3 have that beats out the aforementioned?

I will read up on those roms. I know the few I was aware of weren't done yet, I know cm has nightlies, but nothing has been released final without bugs yet. a lot are like that, with something not done yet.
its not that the siii has stuff I don't have on the evo, its that it just works smoothly and I haven't seen the little bugs. and the multi tasking actually seems to work well.
I got a nexus 7 a couple weeks ago, and I think it spoiled me. ever since I got it, the little issues I had with the evo have become almost unacceptable!!

Viper4G is done in my opinion. Everything works wonderfully for most users. They did some heavy testing before releasing to work out the kinks. MeanROM and many more are as stable as it gets. CM10 is the only one with real multi-tasking, but as I said, the thing really only lacks video at this point, which I can live with.
And come on... If you had a Nexus, this phone has many things that will spoil you if you go back to your Nexus. Screen resolution and clarity, screen size, camera quality, kickstand, etc.
Edit: You said Nexus 7...nevermind.

Currently the only phone on the replacement list is the EVO, so swapping in store is going to be unlikely. Retentions might be able to help you.
For further clarification after purchase one has 14 days to return a device or exchange it. Echangung a device carries a $35 restock unless the device is defective...not 7, not 30. 14 days.be Leary of stores willing to swap or return a device beyond that. ETFs will be charged/upgrades lost and the store will be unable to reverse

Hey rom that has really spoiled me lately is tranquility from bad seed, if that won't make you happy I'm afraid nothing will. As far as your screen goes insurance should take care of that.

Coming Soon - Jelly Bean! I hope...

Just chatted with AT&T. It's been delayed once already that I know of. How many more times will it get delayed, you think?

O-o Rich Hubbard will be on fire now )
Not surprised at all, they will continue to have excuses and when it does come out it will be the only update we shall see. Glad I like the phone for what it is and am not too worried on the jelly bean switchover...I just want a smooth "bugless" phone which for the most part it is.

Oh foooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkk mmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeee lol This is nut's lol really AT&T how hard is this lmao Seeeeee if LG would make the right ****!!!!!!!!!! We wouldn't have all these problem's bwahahhahahaahaha hey just my two cents lmao
Come on Rich Hubbard! Give us more details!
this is why I sent it back even though I loved the phone. there was no reason why the phone should have been released with ICS in the first place. its a beautiful phone but battery was a no no. plus jelly bean should come. by that time key lime pie will be the new kid on the block in the months to come. and I highly doubt LGOG would ever get that. I was completely spoiled with battery from the note 2

Hardly a credible source, to be honest :what:

They are too busy implementing their bloatware, and removing stock Android features (free tethering)

God knows they need to shoehorn in their subscription Navigator app. I'd like to round up all the people who actually pay for that service and slap each one. Granted it's probably nearly all elderly people, but still.

Good thing AT&T told a random rep in a call center when the JB push is coming...¬_¬

Your loss. Considering how well it runs ICS and how little you actually gain with Jellybean, it's not like the phone is somehow inferior without the update. Let's look at what you get:
1) Project Butter - which will make almost no noticeable difference in the way the phone runs
2) Improved notifications - Good
3) Google Now - excellent
That's it, really. Of those, Google Now is the only "must have" for me and I can wait a few months. The phone runs great as is and has lots of excellent customizations by LG that actually make it a better phone than it would be stock. I'm more concerned that they will introduce bugs or remove features with the JB update than anything.
I'm not sure what your issue was with battery, either. Mine has been great.

You don't even have to wait for Google Now if you're willing to flash a ROM that has it. Sure, it's not the latest and greatest version of it, but it works perfectly well
Sent from my LG Optimus G - I can't believe it's not Project Butter!

His loss indeed. The way this phone runs out of the box beats any other devices stock to stock. Rooted and debloated it's even better. JB isn't the giant leap that some people are making it out to be imo. I have no problem waiting myself. If I wanted it now I'd flash the Korean port.
I'm not holding my breath

Exactly! My worry also - that it will mess something up with a JB update. The phone (for me) is perfect as is & I love it & don't want anything to mess it up. I am getting excellent battery life & for me that can't be improved because the battery life is phenominal for me. In short, the LGOG E970 AT&T version is THE phone for me & I love it & don't want anything to change. If JB comes, I will wait anyway before updating just to make sure that there weren't any problems caused by the update.
why does everyone get so touchy when someone says they returned the LGOG. I was just stating my opinion that's all. I don't know what my deal with battery was either. I could actually sit there while using it and watch it drain. even after conditioning. this was with a complete restore as well. sometimes dropping almost 10% in an hour with hardly doing anything with it. amazon didn't have any left in stock at the time of the return so I opted for a refund. not saying not having jelly bean is the reason for returning it. all I am saying is this phone should have shipped with it. there was no reason not too period. it will prob get it. but I wouldn't hold my breath after that. especially after the pro is released. just my 2 cents

Agree 100%.
Sadly, a lot of everyday users probably have no idea Google maps has navigation, and since I don't think it is stock installed on at&t devices, they never see it.
I had to tell my techchallenged aunt not to use any at&t crap on her phone.
6 months later she got an iPhone and a hotspot plan so she could wirelessly teather after her router acted up.
I had to facepalm because I could have gotten her free teathering on her Android phone.
Slightly related, does anybody know if there is an unlimited dataplan with the hotspot plan? She was adamant she had unlimited even though my understanding is 5 gigs is as high as you can go on a single plan.
