yeah, i want to know also
Yes, I think that's possible using ODIN. I'm not entirely sure though, maybe root is required. In any case, JellyBean is ICS with a bunch of useful improvements. So if you like ICS, you'll only like JellyBean more.
Yes it is possible and most of the times it does not require root. Google shipped roms for your phone and download the ics one.

Yes, guys u can. Just download the ICS stock rom for your device from the net and flash it via odin and it does not require root but there are chances of a BRICK.
If u want that guide for your device then contact me.

Only if you want to get it thru Kies
there is a .tar file in the main Official ICS thread that is used with Odin
Im not sure if I'm being misunderstood, I'm wondering if its necessary for me to upgrade to official ICS in order to flash future ICS ROMs?

I get what you are asking, ignore the last guys comment. Yes, to upgrade official firmware you have to be on official firmware unless someone makes a one click odin for people to install. If there are anymore upgrades from AT&T you will have to be on stock Gingerbread or Stock ICS to do the official upgrade.

There is a .tar file to flash thru Odin
I'm running it and flashed it thru Odin
And I wasn't on official firmware
Kies is another option.
Read up before you bash
The majority is flashing thru Odin and rooting thru Odin as well

Not true. I was on the CM 9.1 rom from hotwire, connected to kies and ran the update with no issue.

I don't believe so, no. When you flash a custom ROM (whether ICS or otherwise) you should do a full wipe anyway, so being on official ICS is irrelevant.
And the developers comment out or remove the signature checks for their roms so you can upgrade from any rom but samsung roms do a signature check and abort if stock rom and modem are missing.
Thank you very much guys.

I used Kies on my PC whilst in Download mode twice yesterday to put the official update on my phone.
I had FJ's UCLF5 / IMM76D B9 on my Note both times.
I used the process detailed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731654
XDA is no longer worth my time.
Hi,
As the ICS is now available in India I wanted to know if I could install the stock ICS for my S29100 using KIES..
I already had flashed a custom ICS but wanted to install the stock ICS so I do not have any warranty issue also
will is it really safe to use triangle away, I already read about it in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
but is it really safe?
Yes, you should be safe if you have read it properly and understood what to do. However make a backup all the same.

yes u can go back to any stock rom of any country
I confirm that it is safe, I already use before. But you can flash stock ROM via Odin, this way is faster than Kies.

I can say from experience that the tool you posted works on ics (rooted). Pretty sure it should work for jb too.
Follow the instructions here once again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289395
(You don't need to root again)
How are you checking if it worked? The code mentioned in that thread only works for Samsung based rom's. If unlocking is absolutely necessary, and you're somehow sure you're not unlocked, make a nandroid, flash to a Samsung based rom, check if unlocked using that code mentioned in the thread I listed, if not --> unlock phone using steps in that thread, check for unlock using code

That code only works on Samsung based rom's. You're probably already unlocked!

He says it in the third post. Read
I rooted my Galaxy S3 the other day with the intention of installing one of the JB rom's out there. I thought as my S3 was not locked that the official JB update would be a little way off yet. Yesterday I find the official JB being pushed to my phone. It went through the update process and then said it could not update because my phone had been modified. I checked the rom version and it is now 4.1.1 so it seems to have actually updated everything apart from the interface which is still ICS.
Is there a way to get around this? If I do a factory reset will that wipe the root? Or can I do something to hide the root from the update?
All advice much appreciated.

Thanks for that. didn't realise the interfaces were the same. Was expecting a bit of a facelift but then I guess it's what's under the hood that counts.
It did say it couldn't update the software because the phone was modified so I am wondering what, if anything I am missing.
One thing I did notice pretty much straight away was the battery seems to be running down quicker. Could be my imagination of course but I will test it over the next few days to be certain.
flash any stock Rom and change csc

Rooting will not stop you from updating OTA through KIES. It wont update through direct OTA.
Update via Kies or download the DLJ4 and flash with odin. You will have the same result

I'm guessing you want to go back to ICS from JB? That being the case, you have 2 options....
Both require that you download a firmware....which should NOT be 4.0.4....
First option use mobile Odin to flash said firmware
second option is to use PC Odin to flash said firmware.......
And then ignore every request to ota update your phone for as long as you own it....
My wife says I'm a phone geek.....
I'd have to agree......
