Hello guys!
After looking everywhere I can't seem to find any solution or even report of a similar issue
I have a rooted Nexus 7 on 4.2.1 and (I think it happened since the last update to 4.2.1) have a total impossibility of playing ANY media files over my local network... Whether it's a movie or even an MP3, every single one of my players tell me "sorry this video cannot be played"..
I can see the file on EF explorer (tried also with a bunch of other explorers, same problem), I can copy it onto my tablet over wifi, but impossible to play the damn file directly like I used to 2 or 3 weeks ago...
I bought a Kobo Arc for my girlfriend (on ICS) and it has no problem streaming anything instantly, even 720p 6gb movies... but when I get my Nexus 7 , nope can't do it anymore
I'm really getting lost on that issue now... I've tried tons of players (MX, BS, Dice, VLC...etc), tons of files explorers, looked through the file explorers settings...etc etc, but nothing that could get me my media streaming over wifi again...
It's not a huge issue or anything, but it's rather annoying to have to transfert every single media file on the tablet before actually being able to watch/listen to it...
If someone has a solution for this, damn, you would soooo helpful
Thanks in advance!
No chance for me? Anyone?

There are thread about this on the Q&A sub section, follow the link on my sig please..
nobody is using dlna on SG3?
I'm a bit baffled about the AllShare element of the GS3. I was quite happy with the way it worked on the S2, but with the S3 I have to install something on my PC to access the files on it even though I have AllShare installed on it.
When I open the stock Gallery app, I'm able to see any pictures on my DLNA enabled PC. Maybe with the Video Player app you can do a similar thing? I'll check this when I get home from work...
I have DLNA sharing on Synology, where I can't instal any Samsung aplication.
Now I am solving it trhoug another player called BubbleUPnP, but I am still hoping, that this must be done through Samsung software...
Same here. The stock video player just keeps scanning when I access, my NAS. Every other app works fine.
...and the stock audio player is ok by you?

I can't get this to work either. My s iii shows up in windows media player and the computer shows up in nearby devices but in the phon's music player the "loading" notice keeps running forever.
I just tried using the video player and I found some videos, maybe the problem is that the 30+ gigs of music is jusslow to load. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Edit: Iwent back after some time and the song listed! Unfortunately they were all in one alpha list, and tapping one would;'t play it. I think this is pretty much useless without organization so I'm going to try Allshare.

I tried the GSIII Allshare but it was awfully clunky to use.

as I remeber on SG2 it was quite similar to BubbleUpnp.
In the video player app, when i select NAS in nearby devices, it just keeps on processing, it does not load the network videos. however, it works fine in image gallery.
And the whole thing works perfectly in s2.
Anyone facing similar problem?
Having the exact same issue... have tried LG8, LH1 and LH4... NO luck!
How did you fix this?
Thanks,
crabby
Mine is the opposite it doesnt work in the gallery but loads fine in the video player when I select nearby devices.

I just don't understand what it's doing! It's like it's trying to index every video I've got (about 1TB of them).
I can quite quickly browse my nas through es file explorer, but pretty miffed that this is worse than previous galaxies.

Mine works, too, but it takes a minute or so to load the icons/thumbnails (I've got about 3TB of films and TV series on my NAS)

havent found the solution as yet.
Still screwed in the newest Jelly Bean roms... I'm wondering if it's my NAS, but then it works on my S2 and S1 and I can browse through ES File explorer fine.

Hi all,
I just picked up the T-Mobile variant and have not yet rooted or anything, however I am using the fix hifi dac app which a chap kindly posted on here and the play store.
I used to use the free version of podkicker however I have now purchased pocket casts. The issue I am having on my new V10 is that I will listen to a podcast for say 30minutes,then I come back to the same file later in the day to resume and both podkicker and pocket casts show the position as being 30mins in however when I hit play it aways goes back the beginning, has anyone else had this problem and know if it is unique to this phone or if there is some android issue I've not had previously?
I have searched on google and here but I have not been able to find the same issue anywhere.
Any help you can give would be appreciated!
Ps. Forgot to mention I've cleared cache and reinstalled the apps also, tried with different podcast files too!
Thanks
I have done more testing and it appears only happen with m4a files with mp3 unaffected.
Hello there.
I just bought the OPX and it's a great device (except for the camera, of course)
But I have this weird video player problem.
videos are lagging and stuttering everywhere! twitter, youtube, browser, anywhere! except if I used an external player like (mx player) it goes kinda smooth.
I tried to disable nuplayer (or enable it, I don't remember but I changed the default state ) and got to nowhere. Same thing.
I've came across some webpages of people having a similar problem, yet no one have offered a proper solution.
I'm on the latest OTA oxygen update, just bought my phone 3 days ago so I didn't even have time to mess around
really looking to fix this problem ASAP because it's annoying, VERY annoying.
May be reset will work out!
Do a factory reset, or replace the device to a new one!
I guess I would do a reset when I'm totally out of ideas.
any sugs?

Try Awesome Player in developer options
Blu-spark kernel really improve the experience with the OPX. But I still have this problem sometimes.
I noticed that it's not on all vids on the youtube app for ex. It should be related to the video format (of course, worse on 1080p) & codecs/encoding properties (VBR ou CBR) or the servers the video is on. My data speed transfer is not the issue on that.
Tried awesome player, nothing changed.

so what do you suggest beside changing the kernel?
I'm looking for a solution for a video playback problem my LG-H930DS (SEA) has after the 8.0 Oreo update. When I start the phone everything is working well, but after a few minutes of normal usage the built-in videoplayer cannot play video recordings made by the phone itself. It says "Cannot play video - This file type is not supported" Then I have to restart the phone to get it working again. But it fails nearly every day. I wouldn't mind this failing because I can choose a different app to play the gallery videos, but the problem is that Snap-chat videos fail to play as well when this happens, until next restart. That's the bug I cannot have. Also when the phone gets into the state of not playing videos, the ringtones and alarm clock make no sound.
To start the problem I only have to open a few random web pages in chrome, open the gallery a few times, play some videos , and in a few minutes of this usage video playback crashes. MX player, VLC and youtube still work though.
I have done a lot of troubleshooting for this problem:
Full restore of the phone
Flashed different firmwares, H930DS20b, H930DS20d, and the european variant H93020d
Tried with no apps installed, other then preinstalled ones
Tried it in safe mode
But the problem always remains.
I always use the same google account. And after upgrading to 8.0 the problem does not seem to start until I restart the phone for the first time, after that it's constantly failing. Don't know if it starts when the memory gets close to full or not, but nothing else is failing on the phone.
I have now downgraded my phone to the Android Nougat 7.1.2 (H930DS10d) and this problem is not there, no matter how hard I try to replicate it.
I can only find one link on google where this problem is reported. (problem #6)
I have contacted LG Support, and they had never heard about this, and wanted me to send my phone in for repairs. But I'm not willing to pay for shipping from Europe to Asia, if this is just a software problem.
Is someone else getting this problem, or does know a fix or a workaround for it? Or is there a way for me to view the errors the phone is running into?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone is willing to read it and give me a little help
I finally found out what the problem is. It's actually just media files in the storage I use every day. These files only contain audio, but have the extension .ts. Video playback on the phone fails because the gallery is trying to create thumbnails of them to display. The workaround for the problem was to place a .nomedia file in the folder containing those files, to hide them from the gallery. After that the problem stopped. I've been using these files for years, and it has never been a problem until Android 8.
have you tried some other video player?
stock one is quite basic and thin.
Hi, yes I do use another players, but the gallery is failing video plaback in snapchat and stopping ringtones and alarms from working aswell, without using the stock player.
Same problem here with LG V30
I have the same problem with my phone I have the T-Mobile V30 and I have the same issue. I figured out not to take videos in 4k [email protected] works fine. But the moment I create a video at 4k it either starts playing and stops midway with sound continuing to play with frozen picture or it just says it doesn't support the video.
I've been using LG phones ever since the G2 and never had any other phone or any problems with them. This one though is getting really annoying.
I hate these Q&A format threads with a passion. I wish people would just open regular threads...

Have you tried other video players like VLC, MXPlayer?
Yes sir I did many players and VLC is always on all my devices and it also gets stuck. I'll try the .nomedia file and see how that works
And I have a problem with the smoothness of video playback in gallery, whether it's a bluray movie in mp4/mkv FHD format, or from camera in FHD or in 4k is always on Android 8.0 I have a delicate jam, how would he lose single frames every 0.7sec ~ 0 , 25sec. I came back for testing on 7.1.2 and it is perfectly smooth always, as soon as I updated to 8.0 version 20d or the latest 21h there are jam ... how b was an oreo error, quite a few friends did not catch up with this problem, I'm a perfectionist and I look at every detail whether it's a video or sound, that's why I chose the highest model of the phone.
LG releases more patches (already 4) and as soon as it appears oreo are staples. You can see that this is a pfroblem with support for video caps because MX Player also has micro jams on the hardware codec.
Interestingly, youtube is fluid.
I only hope that the Android Pie will be improved.
I'm having the same problem as well please let me know when you will find the solution to this problem of smoothness of video
At first it was running smooth AF but after some time i noticed the problem after 1 day of use.
Reseting the phone didnt work.
