If you're rooted, you can use an app called adfree to block ads on your phone. I'm not sure if it will block the ads on chompSMS, but it's worth a shot.

I think there's an option to "donate" or something that will turn off the ads. From the chompsms website: chompSMS, Settings, Support Us.
That's probably the best way to get rid of the ads, and it also encourages people to continue developing for the android platform.
(As a professional software developer, I'd like to remind everyone that while we might develop out of a love for the challange, we need to eat and support our families as well. That need causes us to spend the majority of our time where the income is.)
Take care

[Q] Possibility of blocking Amazon updates no root/router configuration needed

I made a new thread on this.

I found an application that requires no root (not giving out name of app because I'm paranoid of Amazon spies), that allows you to block the application's inbound and outbound WiFi transmissions. I blocked everything that has to do with Amazon including the system settings. Is this enough to prevent Amazon's automatic updates WHILE using the device on WiFi? Or will Amazon's update find a way to disable the tool?

Check my thread here. AdBlock Plus does block most ads, but not all. Ensure you have followed everything according to the setup instructions. Maybe try using Adguard as an alternative ad-blocker.
None of those adblockers will block ads on Youtube for non-rooted devices.

vpn and adblock

On non rooted Android, is there any way to use a vpn app and the adblocks using dummy vpn like block this, adguard, netguard at the same time?

Sorry I didn't specified clearly. I meant to say adblock that blocks in app ads and a real vpn app at the same time.

Sorry for posting in this old story again, but I have the same question and I don't think it is answered now.
I typically use AdGuard on my non-rooted device. But if I connect to a public WIFI without (individual) password, I would like to have a 'real' vpn app, that encrypts my data. This VPN of course disables AdGuard, so I have no ad blocking anymore.
My question are:
Is there a 'real' VPN that
a) additionally blocks ads
b) automatically connects to unsecure WIFI (e.g. it doesn't need to connect to my home Wifi)
Thanks a lot,
W

a) Private Internet Access has such an option (called PIA MACE). I do not know how efficient it is, though.
b) I don't know. PIA does not have such an option. Perhaps this could be solved using Tasker.
Local Filtering on Android in combination with real VPN:
personalDNSfillter with openVPN for personalDNSfilter

Question Is there any way to restrict any app from connecting to the internet?

As the title says, I'm switching from Xiaomi mi 11 and there was a simple way to restrict any app from connecting to internet, the only way I have found so far in my s23u is netguard app, but it uses local VPN which is not the best solution as I am using it already with adaway as an adblocker
Tracker control from github can stop any app from connecting to the internet

Yes, but it's also using internal VPN, same as netguard

You could try using nextdns and using the private dns address but you'd have to block the websites of what app you want blocked from connecting to the internet and all that works without using your vpn
'Karma Firewall' blocks internet access to the apps I choose

You can combine it with private DNS. I use AdGuards DNS

Take it easy ...
It is able much more. The sense of this app is to block tracking services used by you apps and let only connect to the internet your app and not spying services.
