Yes, you can delete the file and it will not affect anything. However, as a precaution I always leave my most recent rom install available just in case I ever get a bad download or bad file when installing a new rom.

Great advice ^^

Rom manager major problem!

Long story short: I soft bricked and went back to stock.
Rooted phone.
Then on rom manager I pressed flash clockwork.
Then selected vibrant. That's where the problem is.
It says error occured when downloading and that's it.
I'm stuck on stock how can I make this work or will it work if someone gives me their update.zip?
Also if that works can someone give me their update.zip?
This is the first time I've had this problem and I haven't heard any similar problems so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance.
Delete update.zip, Uninstall/reinstall cwm and try again on wifi

Nope still same problem.
Look in one of the other threads for the zip file and flash like normal

Are you using rom manager? If you are then stop. Make sure you wipe system, boot, and caches before flashing the rom. Download and use 4ext recovery instead of cwm. Its much better and don't use rom manager.

Use the wipe all except SD card option before flashing roms. It wipes all the necessary things for you with that option.

I would say try ext 4, but I really don't want you wiping the SD out because that could suck if your SD contains things you don't want to use.
Wait for disconnecktie to reply. He knows more about it. I guess this makes my reply pointless. Haha. Oh well.

Go into the wipe format menu and select the option St the bottom wipe all partitions except SD card and that is all you need to do before flashing

I dont remember what version of sense that rom is but to save battery you could try undervolting. Someone with more knowledge of skyraider should assist you there though. I personally have never ran skyraider on the thunderbolt.

I had great battery life with Skyraider 1.3 with the stock settings, definitely better than the stock ROM. It was better with the .9 radios vs the .19 radios - you could try a radio swap.
Did you make any other changes? New apps/sync settings etc?

Is this the Definition of a soft brick? Fix?

So I rooted my S4 and all was good (Not my first rodeo)
I was running a Stock Deodexed ROM and I flashed a mod to change the toggles to blue. Still... all was good, but
then I decided to start fresh and clean up a bit. So I formated the device, wiped caches, data reset, yadda ya...
Flashed a different Stock Deodex and everything still seemed fine. I tried flashing the blue toggle mod and then got stuck on boot. Pulled battery and still nothing. Wiped all data again and flashed the ROM again without doing the toggle mod. Ever since then, no matter what ROM I'm on or have any mods, if I reboot I get stuck at boot screen. The only way to get past this is to wipe EVERYTHING again and start over. However... Hot/Quick/Shell reboot doesn't lock up on me.
So basically I'm at a point with my S4 that makes it impossible to flash anything and be able to boot. I even have to wipe everything before I can do a successful restore.
I'm using TWRP 2.5.0.2 and currently on my latest backup of cleanrom 1.3
Any ideas are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Thanks community!

I had your issue happen to me last week. I tried everything to fix it and nothing worked. I ended up flashing back to stock. Started flashing again using TWRP with no problems.
Here is where I got info to go back to stock. Go to android development and scroll down to (Guide) No-wipe factory image by open1your1eyes and follow as instructed. Happy flashing bud!

Whelp... I got that other recovery on there, but now I can't boot or anything. No ROM works
I think I tried everything, but it looks like I'll need to get Odin involved and go from there. Its too bad that the cwm recovery can't restore a twrp backup. This sucks. Ugh. First world problems... Anyone got a link for the stock image or whatever I need to push via Odin? Ideas?
Thanks again for your help guys. I do appreciate it and know I'll get up and running again soon.

From DarkMenace's signature, quite a nice resource he has composed. I ran into a similar situation with TWRP and ClearnRom 1.3 last night, ended up using Odin to push the "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Stock_Restore.tar.md5.gz" in that link. Went back to bone stock, but it's nice to know there is a fallback incase something ever goes awry.

Yes, but there are root files there also.
So then what? Or do I just use Odin to do the whole kernel flashing thing again to gain root? Sorry to sound so noobish, just don't wanna go through this again. Lol
Should I just maybe try that VRUAMDK no wipe .tar?

You use Odin. You can use either file.
Sent from my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 using XDA Premium HD
Yeah I know I use Odin. I guess I should have worded that better.
If I push the .tar you mentioned, I lose root, but some root files will still be there. So my question is... What files and what can I do with them? Or do I just start the whole root process over again as in the first place with those two modified kernels?
The other "no data wipe .tar" file you push with Odin as well, but would you retain root? If so... I would prefer the no wipe .tar, but you know better than me and I greatly appreciate your help and guidance. If the first .tar file is the better way to go and start all over, that's what I'll do. Its almost done downloading anyways, but was just curious about the no wipe and if ya knew anything more about it. I owe you man!
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda premium
Both files will remove root. You would need to reflash with the kernel files.

[Q] quick question about flashing kernels

OK so I have a quick question about flashing kernels. I want to flash a new kernel for better battery life I know I do that in my recovery like a ROM. But what does it mean to fix permissions and where do I fix them at and how do I fix them?

The instructions should tell you where and what to change. Then use Root Explorer to browse to the file or directory and change it. Although most kernels are flashed via Odin as far as I know and am used too.

What kernels have you been flashing through Odin??? Only one I can think of is the pre-release one for 2 mins while you unlock the phone.
I've been doing all mine through TWRP. So far used faux's and KToonez's kernels

I believe so but it would be great if someone else who has gone full stock on this device to chime in. My experience going to stock was on the s3.very similar just wanna double check with someone else too. I never Odin ANYTHING unless I'm 100percent sure that it's correct
And as you might know, CHECK md5. A bad tar flash will most likely hard brick your device. It's not the same as a bad rom flash
