[Q] BL unlock, alternative method? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi there
I have BL unlock statue allowed:Yes
and I want to unlock my bootloader with some tool other than the one in the official Sony thread, because it requires the download of the Android SDK which is a large file and my net speed sucks, can I use flashtool to do so, is there any tutorial? please reply

Yes you can use flash tool I have a r800x I got my unlock code from Sony made sure I had the latest version of flash tool and driver installed open flash tool go to plug in boot loader unlock boot loader follow the prompt on flash tool type in your unlock code it should unlock the bootloader for you
Sent from my R800x using xda premium

flashtool says that my BL is already unlocked
is it possible to enter fastboot mode if you bl is locked?
because i can enter fastboot mode and the LED turns blue
is my BL really unlocked?

Only way to test is to try to flash a kernal using flashtool and use tje lightning symbol instead of flashmode use fastboot select the kernal you downloaded if ur unlocked it will tell you the flash was successful if your not unlocked it well tell u error in red lettereing and the reason for the error

thanx for you help(thanx pressed)
All i want now is to install cm7.2, im on official 2.3.4 and im unable to root through both flashtool and zergRush method i have a problem rooting it, because sony issued a patch and the exploit no longer works. What to do now to root and install cwm.
im afraid to flash a kernel because it things go wrong i'll turn my fully functional phone into a paperweight (already failed on flashing a kernel on my xperia x8 and its now a dead phone)

Flashtool wont let u flash a kernal if your bootloader is locked as for the rooting part that I cant help with sorry as I say i have a r800x and for us to root we have to flash down to 2.3.3 root using superoneclick then fota to 2.3.4 if we wanted but if ur bootloader is unlocked DO NOT UPDATE from your carrier your phine will brick and flash tiol is your best friend you should br able just to reflash the stock furmware for any if your phones to brung them back to life

I heard that there is some kernels that are pre-rooted, is that true

Yes most kernals come pre rooted with cwm lupus, doom kernal free Xperia r the three kernals I run the most I currently have lupus v8 720 kernal running paranoid Android
Sent from my R800x using xda premium

I have this kernel installed 2.6.32.9-perf, does it mean I have an Unlocked Bootloader ?
What is the best bootloader for CM7.2 and that supports overclocking and whats the best method to flash it ?
Please reply quick Im eager to give it a shot I hate this stock FW

What's the name if the kernal it should say in your phone status like doomkernal 2.6.32.69 v14
That us a custom kernal you have installed mine reads 2.6.32.9- lupus v8 720

Then install

thanx for your replies
I just flashed Doomlord kernel through flashtool and entered CWM full wipe and installed official CM7.2 and Gapps and it keeps rebooting and it doesnt show anything other than doomlord kernel's animation
I think that Doomlord's kernel does not support CM7.2 but it only supports Sony based firmwares. if so, which kernel is best suited for CM7.2 and has overclocking ?

What's the roms firmware ur trying to flash? Ice cream sandwich gingerbread or jellybean?
Most if doom lords kernel are gingerbread based I'm not sure about overclocking tho I don't do it

Most custom rooms if they are for a unlocked boot loader will provide a kernal with the zip or one to download to use with their roms

CyanogenMod 7.2 is Gingerbread, Please some good kernel that supports overclocking

[Q] Revert back to stock rom

Hi All,
I have read lots of posts and am confused so sorry if already answered.
I have a uk orange atrix rooted and have unlocked bootloader running Aura 1.2.2.2. I wish to flash the uk stock rom from the firmwares superthread, is it safe for me to use rsdlite to flash rom.
Many thanks
Just flash a fruitcake
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I was waiting for one but their is not a uk one yet. i thought that if it was ok to flash an sbf using rsdlight with an unlocked bootloader then i would create a fruitcake of it for others to use.
I did it flashed back to stock with rds after unlock bl and all worked fine but I cant flash with fastboot now as I think bootlader relocked.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I was just reading on this, I know this is safer, but would you recommend? I'm trying not to get caught up in AT&T lol

Easiest method is to flash pre rooted kernel.

con you please give me the link for the last and better kernel
just for information i have a locked bootloader
and any others tricks for this phone would be nice
now that i want to unlock bootloader
i enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. Bootloader unlock allowed says NO
Sure.. If you want rooted stock then my recommendation is boot extended stock kernel ... Download here http://www.mediafire.com/?g94m9kgpsy0xe3v... For overclocking use rage kernel ...
There is already a thread on xda for installing custom kernel with locked bootloader..

If you somehow unlock bootloader then you'll not be eligible for OTA updates since DRM keys are lost ... ( Official way ) ... However there is a TEST POINT which preserves DRM but is tedious and way too risky..

I suggest you to not unlock the bootloader first and you should get use first with SONY devices and their application for development (like Flashtool,Sony Update Service,PC Companion,s1tool,etc.)
You can at least try to root your phone first (remember, once rooted, your warranty will be voided)

so no way to root with a locked bootloader?
i don't think so
Yes you can root, but only with the downgrade/upgrade method. You have to downgrade to gingerbread, root and then Run local-prop, Update with "wipe data" unmarked and then Run push-root-files. Just Check out the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514

ya boot loader is locked...and i want to flash a custom kernel (.img) file...so how to do that?
First you need to unlock the bootloader (s-off) you won't be able to flash any custom kernel or rom. There's no chance. But by unlocking your warranty will be voided!

S-off is for HTC not xperia.
You can flash roms without unlocking the boot loader .
He is already unlocked so there's no need to tell him about warranty.

I am new here and have a Xperia neo v. Now when i try to flash custom kernel in fastboot mode, cmd shows "waiting for device" though i have connected my phone to the computer in fastboot mode. Plz tell how to flash custom kernel so that i can flash custom roms.

[Solved] How come I could flash a kernel despite a locked bootloader?

I have a Sola with a locked bootloader that can not be unlocked. Still, I could flash a kernel using flashtool. How come?
Now, I'm kind of new to this whole flashing stuff thing, but according to my brief research, I was under the impression that you can't flash ROMs or kernels if your bootloader isn't unlocked. When I found out about this, I was like "aww", and kept using the sluggish stock ICS ROM.
Now, when I updated to a new firmware via Companion, I lost root, and I found a tutorial "for Solas with locked bootloader" that told me how to get it back, but it included flashing kernels via flashtool. I was skeptical, but went ahead and succeeded, root was back <3 so I indeed could flash a kernel onto the phone despite a locked bootloader. How in the world was that possible? Am I missing something? I can flash a kernel but not ROMs? Or can I safely flash a whole CM onto my phone now?
Thaaanks!
U need a kernel.ftf to flash it via flashtool

A locked bootloader can be flashed. The only difference is that you need a signed kernel, one with Sony's signature in order for the bootloader to load the kernel and boot.
You can flash any older stock kernel. Including the ones with known root exploits, and flash the new one after. You can't flash CUSTOM kernels.

how?
You may flash it but you'll soft brick because the loader won't load an unsigned kernel. You'll have to flash a stock one to boot again.

[Q] Root[Locked Bootloader]Xperia Neo V with Stock ROM 4.02.A.0.62

Hi,
I am new in rooting android. Let me explain you all my issues in detail as I've been searching for long but didn't got any info regarding my case.
Scene:::
I never rooted my Xperia neo v.
I updated to Official ICS latest firmware. My neo was running fine for about 4 to 5 months (except it was laggy).
Recently, When I turned on the bluetooth , it got stuck in bootloop . So, searched and from the great developers help in this forum, I got the solution to Falsh my neo v with stock rom . I did and now I've 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Now,My questions are:::
Q1. Can I root my Neo V without unlocking the bootloader ?
Q2. I tried the Fastboot method but Android SDK Manager doesn't run on my Windows 8 64bit, tried to fix it too but it didn't fix. So any alternate solution to this method?
Q3. Also, When I check via *#*#7378423#*#*, it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes'.Does it mean I've an Unloackedbootloader?
And it might sound a lil stupid, But Please can I have the detail rooting solution according to my above questions?
Thanks all,
Akash
First of all there's no connection in rooting and bootloader.
Rooting is simply giving super user capabilities or allowing root acess, like admin rights in windows.which stock android os don't provide for security reasons.
If your bootloader is locked you can't install other kernels accept the default sony provided kernels, but you can root, install other custom roms like ihave zellycream v2.meanwhile in unlocked bootloader you can flash with custom kernel of your choice.
The message ur getting means you have a locked bootloader, which can b unlocked.to unlocking there are several methods..you can get by searching the forum.
About me I have a locked bootloader. And on zellycream v2 rom.
