Hi, I have a problem that I applied the wrong CF root v6.4 onto my s3 lte i9305. My baseband become Unknown.
I tired to use the CWM Recovery Tar for i9305 to try to root the phone again. I am able to successfully apply via Odin, but i tried with no Autoreboot then pull battery , then to boot wih VolumeUp+power+home buttons. It just hangs there forever.
I now can either boot normally without baseband, or boot in download mode, or boot in normal recovery mode but not CWM.
Please advise how I can fix the baseband problem?

I have not successfully root my phone yet since I still can't get into CWM. Therefore, I have not able to backup EFS folder.
Anyway to recover the EFS folder without backup?
J.
Where did you and how did you originally backup EFS folder .
Baseband is modem you can flash a modem through Odin .
Why not turn your phone off and read the basics first .

I just want to confirm if I need to use triangle away to reset counter and to wipe the data and setting in CWM or factory reset in recovery mode before I flash the stock ware using download mode?
J.
No you dont - you only need to do that if you want to send it off for warranty/repairs
You may want to factory reset after though in case you still run into problems

Hi all.
I think i have killed my Galaxy S3 i9300!!!
I rooted it and installed the Paranoid Android rom, but then decided to go back to stock rom as I couldn't access the play store.
Now here's the problem... I wiped dalvic cache and did a factory reset, but stupidly wiped the system at the same time.
There is no operating system on the phone at all now and my pc greys out the device when I plug it in.
Odin did recognize the phone, but I couldn't flash a rom to it as it kept getting stuck at 'nand write start' in all versions of odin.
When I try to start in recovery mode (volume up, power and home) I get the green android instead.
I read that it's game over if you can't enter recovery mode.
Have I killed my s3? :crying:
Possible you have damaged the NAND .
wiped the system at the same time>> then you just flash a stock rom via ODIN .
What phone have you what stock did you flash .
You have already posted this why start yet another thread ??

Sorry for the double post, I thought that the first one may have been in the wrong place, it won't happen again.
I never got to flash any stock roms at all because i'm new to all this and I assumed that doing a factory reset was going
to put me back on the stock rom automatically.
That's when I made the mistake of doing the advanced wipe and ticking the system box.
Excuse my ignorance... but is it possible to fix this even if I don't have recovery mode?
Thank you for your help.

Use Kies intilisation or whatever to chose your device and serial.
If that wont work flash recovery and then use recovery to flash a stock based rom.
i have a Developer IMEI now and no Signal after i restore my nandroid Backup.
how can i restore my original IMEI? i saw that in my nandroid backup there is a EFS Folder, but when i restore it i still have the same issue.
now i am back to 4.0.4 Stock Rom
i already tried the tutorial with root explorer and try to exchange the nv_data.bak but its not working for me.

Assuming you didn't flash EMG4
1) restore backup. No backup?
2) try return to stock (complete unroot). Still broken?
3) send for repair

Do hard reset with buttons, then use KIES emergency recovery and hard reset again. When I messed with some custom ROM happened me the same. I think 2 or 3 times I had to use KIES when finally was ok.
Also use KIES and tick allow storage and then click Update unsuccesfull. You'll get a recovery code within KIES. Use that code for recovery. If still fail, you can send it in stating that update damaged your phone.
i send it to repair service and they restored the EFS Folder.
Everything is fine now.

No idea really... but if you know how to flash a stock rom via ODIN you can try that. If flashing back to stock again doesn't help then you probably need to send to Samsung for repair.
No service as per the basic guides stickied in General section .
Please check your IMEI is correct if not restore your backed up EFS folder .
No EFS backup = no fix .

I've just falshed a official firmware rom again , and still no coverage but at least it recognizes the sim .. If I have this new OFFICIAL ROM , and Flash Counters are reseted , I can go with it to warranty ?
If you have followed all the steps in the guide then you will probably get a warranty repair .

Hi !
I'm sorry, , either you flashed it on Odin with "Clear EFS " box ticked, either you flashed firmware for wrong device. (Ex: i9000 for i9300. )
Anyway if you didn't backup EFS the only issue is Reparation Center.

you might be able to restore service if you flash an MG4 or MG5 official rom through Odin. This is only if you previously used an MG4 or MG5 rom and then flashed some other rom which uses an older modem . read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289

I don't think it will work.
alexalghisi, can you go in Phone Information and check if you have baseband?
If no, warrently, no luck.
In the black box the phone or modem is Mc2. This is an older modem than MG4. When a ROM that uses an MG4 Modem is flashed , it alters the files in the efs Folder making the folder unreadable for earlier firmwares. If OP had ever flashed an MG4 or MG5 ROM . than an MC2 ROM would not be able to read the EFS. as it can only be used by the newer firmware that can read it. If the folder has not been corrupted than it should work.

Can i restore .tar using Odin?
If your 'original' rom was before MG4 then no, it won't work.
Instead go forward, either MG4 or later, with your stock rom choice -instead of tinkering with your efs.
To my knowledge odin can only install a .tar if that container has a .img file inside. This depends on how you backed the efs up.

Well, here we go!
DL stock firmware and flash through odin. You will then have 'emergency numbers only' situation.
DL Philz recovery .tar from here and flash through odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002953
Have the XXEMG Radio on your sd card and flash it through Philz recovery. You have the option in Philz to install root, take it.
Download Triangle Away and use it to get rid of your flash counters.

That's it, you should be good to go and completely back to stock.

Transfer the zip file to the root of your internal storage or external sd card.
Turn off your phone then boot into Philz recovery.
Select install zip
Then either choose zip from sdcard or external sdcard depending where you have put the file.
Select xxemg4 zip and do the install.
When install has finished, back out and reboot system.
Do a couple of reboots just to bed things in.It will probably take a couple of hours for the radio to settle down..
Just an afterthought, when you have finalized everything, go into settings>app manager and uninstall Triangle Away. Then use My Files to navigate to internal storage or external sd card and remove any files relating to Triangle Away.

Sorry it took sometime for me to check and update again my S3(been busy these few days). Ok the good news is almost everything works.Imei and signal is back with stock rom.Now the bad news is,i cant get it back to normal status,it just says modified.I flashed back to stock and yes the status is normal but its back with the Imei problem.I guess theres really nothing i can do but let the phone stay rooted if i want it to work or maybe flash again a stock rom but from another region(atleast the phone would still get the official sammy update). Or probably wait for 4.3 official Rom. After this horrifying experience im just keeping my note 2 stock but rooted.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
That's good/bad news! At least you now know that you can get back up and running again if you hit problems. I would suggest that you now back up your EFS partition and keep it somewhere safe.
So your current status is, stock rom installed, stock recovery installed but the bootloader screen still shows modified, is that right?
Try running Triangle Away again, it may or may not work, and see what happens.
I'm running the JB 4.2.2 official leak with Philz recovery installed. Just to check, I ran Triangle Away again and got back to Official in bootloader. I then flashed the stock recovery through Odin, done a reboot and booted into BL it is still showing official with the flash counter at 0.
So to all intents and purposes, I am now completely on the official stock rom and should a 4.3 update come through I should be able to install it.
Anyway, if you install any roms in the future, you know that installing the xxemg4 radio will get your status back to normal.
Remember to back up your EFS partition.
Im still on philz recovery even after i reset the counter.Do i have to manually flash stock recovery through odin after reseting the counter. But i noticed the first time i reset it,it did show official on recovery but as soon it booted to samsung i checked thr status under about it said modified.Do you think if i flash the official recovery it could make a difference. And oh i did a backup of my efs(quite a few of them)but it wouldnt matter right?as the partition format for MG4 is now different. If only theres a way to put back the old partition. Thanks a lot for the help man i appreciate it

My question is: in order to fix this problem, should I worry about the IMEI? (when I did the wipe data i didn't do any backup...:silly.
Any help is welcome. Please have in my mind that I'm a noob...

Thanks for the suggestion... Should I root Android before patching it?

Yes root it then install cwm recovery then download zip file and put it onto your internal sdcard
Then reboot in CWM and use "install from zip".
Well, guys...
I did what you said... didn't succeed. I installed those patches, but it still says "not registered on network".
I wonder if it is an IMEI / EFS folder issue... As I mentioned on the initial post, I don't have a backup EFS folder.
Should I try to flash the stock ROM (I mean, the factory native ROM) so as to try to recover the IMEI?
If so, I don't know what was the original firmware because I got this mobile from a friend.
Any ideas on how to figure it out?
Thanks in advance.

I'm really thankful for the tips... but is there any tutorial on how to flash MG4 modem?
I've had a quick look on the net, but I couldn't find any 'step-by-step'...
I mean, do I have to save those 2 files (modem MG4 + kernel) in the SD card and flash using CWM?
Where can I download it?
Thank you all.

U can try these patched modems
https://drive.google.com/folderview...usp=sha+ring&tid=0B6MIUd7HJudAbU5YaGkzOUowMG8
these are released after 4.3 upgrade with the issue not registered in network
Flash
I would go back to an older version of standard rom. See if that restores imei efs back to version 1. Sammy mobile unbranded uk is version 2 so use an older version than that. I have gone back to this from version 4.3 stock. If phone boot loops after flashing do full factory reset. Then check imei. If still not ok. Install kies and it will upgrade to 4.3 and imei will be back.

Koj,
Could you please post the link for the older version of standard rom? After flashing it, how can I check the IMEI EFS version? I just want to be sure I'm strictly following your tips.
Just to remind you, I got this S3 from a friend who had bought it in USA, and now I'm trying to use it in Brazil.
Thanks in advance. Greetings from Brazil!!
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=ZTO These are a list of Brazilian roms choose the september 4.12 version. You will need to register before you can download. To check imei go to about device then status or from phone keypad enter *#06#
