Hi,
If I put a memory card with data on it like from my ThunderBolt. So I can restore some data from titanium backup. Will the note 2 automatically reformat the thunderbolt memory card when I boot up with it. I don't plan on leaving it in the phone just want to restore some user data like game data.
Thanks,
Bryan
It will definitely read your card but if you want to keep some data from your card to your phone you have to move files from your card to your phones internal memory. Or you can always put your card from your thunderbolt into a card reader, connect your gn2 with new card to your pc and transfer data that way. But if you just want to transfer game data from one device to another, check out wwjoshdew in YouTube, his tutorial on titanium backup with transferring game data from one device to multiple devices is hella cool.

I have never had to swap out or change an SD card so I've never had to deal with this issue.
When my EVO LTE comes I am passing my 3D onto my daughter, who has an EVO Shift. She wants to keep her SD card and use it in the 3D mainly because of her games and game files. I can't just pop the SD card out of her shift and put it in the 3D, can I? And aren't there files on my 3D SD card needed to run things on the phone?
And if I want to use the SD card out of the 3D for my LTE, wouldn't I have to format it first?
Nothing on the card needed to run the phone. Except for the green hornet file. I don't think they install to different locations but just to start fresh id backup both of ur cards. Then install hers in the 3d format have here install all her apps and then from the backup u made replace the app data on SD so she has her saves and what not. And don't forget to backup pics and music to. As for ur card in the LTE a format isn't necessary but it won't hurt help u stay organized I'm backing up my card reformating it and putting it in my LTE fresh. Hope some of this helps haha

Yes, it helped a lot. Thank you
When I connect the phone to my PC and use Media Sync it says phone and card. I am not used to this with the OG Evo everything was on my sd card. Can someone explain what is the difference between the phone and card? Why are some of the apps data being stored on the phone rather than the card?
Phone is the internal partition that is /mnt/sdcard/, while card is the microsd card mounted as /mnt/sdcard2. The reason why everything on the evo goes to the microsd is because there was no internal partition to store data. With devices that have internal memory, that internal memory is the equivalent to the microsd on your evo.
What this means is that all the apps that have no ability to define a storage location, such as gps apps with local instead of net-based maps, games, and most newsreaders will save their cache data to the internal memory. You can redirect the storage location to /mnt/sdcard2/ for programs that support changing download locations, and that will work like it used to with the OG evo.
I still store my videos/music/photos in the external microsd, but without some rooted magic i don't think you can change the default mapping to the microsd. Finally, while the camera app allows moving to storage, i find that my lexar 32gb class 10 card is not fast enough to keep up with the burst mode, so i left that to internal storage.

I am using an SD card in my note that I originally used in my HTC evo. I just backed the card up to my computer and formatted it. I know stuff like pics and music, while not important to the operation of the phone, are things I want to keep. But is there anything that is needed? I would assume no, since there was nothing on it to start when I used it with my evo. And I have used my note without an SD card before. I'm just wondering if I should leave it empty(with the exception of pics and music) or if I should copy anything else back to it.
Does the note put nandroids on the SD card or internal memory?
My phone puts my backups to my cwm folder on my internal storage. I only have my music and movies on my SD card. I also have my phone set to install to internal memory so it doesn't mess with sdcard. I would think our good. Just double check your folders to be sure

Is there any app that automatically backs up the internal SD card to the external SD card?
I'm on ICS (CM9 nightlies), but I'm switching back and forth to other ROMs like CM10. My internal card is getting cluttered and I think I'll have to wipe it, so I want to make sure it is backed up all the time.
I want to save what's on the internal card, since lots of apps will only back up or store data on the internal card.
Any ideas?
I used to use... Ummm ****..... EsFileExplorer's multi select to copy and paste, but that's a by hand method and not really helpful to you. If there was such an app I think i would've stumbled on it by now

Hmm, I guess the only thing I can think of then is using Foldersync to sync the internal SD to Google Drive or some other cloud service, then sync back to my external SD.
Seems crazy to have to do this.

Is it possible to transfer apps and photos from SD card to phone (rooted), if so how is this done.
File manager should help you transferring photos.
But what you mean transferring apps from sd card to phone?

There are a couple of apps I didn't back up with titanium, but they are my SD card. Just wondered if I could get them back on the phone without reinstalling from play store.
Not a major problem really, just curious.
