hi guys;0) i got an rogers note today I717R. I rooted it all worked but: i cant flash clockwork mode. device is not listed on rom manager i tried using the at&t one but didnt worked. When i try flashing it goes to 100% and then stops. How can i flash ? i would really like to use custom roms.
when i try Goo manager it says No recoverys were found
Sorry for this questions but im looking for hours now here online cant find a fix

When the Canadian Notes are updated via OTA they have a a file that prevents the installation of a custom recovery. Check out this thread:

[Q] Unable to install ROM Manager --> unable to flash Cyanogen

Hi people,
So I managed to root my Legend yesterday, and I am now eager to get Cyanogen on the phone. Here I thought "flashing a ROM" would be a walk in the park compared to the hell I've been through to successfully complete the rooting. Perhaps it is a walk in the park, but I'm not convinced - I'm confused :S
After spending ~5€ on ROM Manager Premium (which turns out to be nothing but a required licens in order to use the basic one), it seem like the free ROM Manager isn't compatible with Legend (??). After, slighly hysterical, reading through various threads regarding this, it seem like i might have to install Clockwork Mod Recovery manually...which seem a bit more complicated.
Is HTC Legend really incompatible with ROM Manager? When searching for ROM Manager at Android Market I can only see the premium version, the free version doesn't even display. I also tried to get it through AppBrain, but when installing it from there I receive error msg that the file doesn't exist.
Is it possible to install ROM Manager in any way? Perhaps my Legend needs some kind of update/configuration? I got the following software:
- Firmware version: 2.1
- Build number: 1.31.40~~~~
- Software number: 1.31.40~~~
====
If ROM Manager cannot be installed on my Legend. Does anyone have a proper guide on how to manually set up Clockwork Mod Recovery for Legend?
Thanks in advance
Hi byxl,
On a rooted Legend with firmware 2.2 (Froyo) the Rommanager works.
You can use the Clockwork Mod Recovery without Rommanager, just rename it to update.zip and start it via recovery. You can download it here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969076
I think, with Cyanogen you can install the Rommanager.
Good luck!
Hey alligator_asl & thanks for the answer,
How do I update my rooted HTC Legend to firmware 2.2? And once I have it, will I still be able to run Cyanogen from it? Is there any difference between firmware versions when it comes to possibilities with a rooted phone?
-->>why not add another bunch of newb questions when I'm at it;
---> Is there any way to loose my root access, other then if I'd unroot it? E.g. by upgrading to another firmware.
->> And am I able to flash my device to Cyanogen regardless of what Android version I'm running?
?
I had the same issue and could not find clockworkmod in the market. I found one off the web and installed using HTC sync.
Have a look at this thread. It has a link but I never used it so not sure if it works. If it dont then mail me and I will send u the file.

Hello byxl
when you have root, you dont need to update to 2.2 first, you can directly flash cyanogen, look here wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Legend:_Full_Update_Guide

Yes, if you run an official firmware update from your provider or if you flash an unrooted rom

Yes, but dont forget to wipe before
Alligator_asl;
The Cyanogenmod link isnt helpful. I get a "file not found" error when i try to flash image, despite having copied the file to the platform-tools folder.
Help !
Hey folks,
Thanks for the answers.
I managed to solve my issue by running a fake-flash update.zip and access clockwork mod recovery. From there I could flash cm7

[Q] Samsung Exhibit 2

How do I put a custom rom on this phone? I tried using ram manager, but it doesn't have my phone listed.
Sigh, please use the search function as this was already posted, but I'll help you anyways...
Usually for this phone, ROM manager might not even support it. The first thing is that you must root the phone before anything can be done. Then after you would install clockworkmod recovery to flash a custom ROM.

Stuck in Odin Mode!

Hi, I am very new to the android world and Have done something stupid
I am rooted and I was looking up how to install custom roms on my device. I learned that I had to have a custom recovery installed on my phone so I installed installed Goomanager from the play store and when through the steps to install a custom recovery on a youtube video I found. I went to boot into the custom recovery mode from Goomanager and all of the sudden my phone boots into Odin mode and now I can't get out of it!
I realize this was stupid, and now taking out the battery or trying to boot into normal recovery doesn't work!
HELP ME PLEASE!!! :crying:
P.S: I running latest stock Firmware for Verizon Galaxy S4 ME7 build and I rooted through and SD card as the old way didn't work anymore after I updated about a month or so ago...
P.P.S: Above product name and where it says "ODIN" in the upper left corner, there is tiny red writing that says "Could not do normal boot"
If you would have read about the new me7 update you would have known you can't install custom recoveries or ROMs on it. That's why there is a bounty thread with a pay out in the thousands.

[Q] Corrupt Recovery Mode

Hey guys... So I'm REALLY new at this whole rooting thing, so please forgive me if I am not aware of any terms related to rooting and such.
So basically what happened was this:
I decided to root my Galaxy S4 (sgh-i337 --- AT&T) using the towelroot method. I had to use this method because my phone is currently running Android 4.4.4 KitKat (TouchWiz) and it worked fine. SuperSU was installed, Root Checker said my phone was rooted, it was good. I tried to install CWM using Odin, and I got the "RESET" or "PASS" from Odin, which I thought that it meant that it worked. However, when I tried to go into Recovery Mode, it went into Stock Recovery Mode. I started to look at other tutorials, and I came across another one that involved flashing your phone's respective CWM .img file from your phone itself (transfer the .img to your phone's SD, and then flash it from your phone using the app, Flashify). But when I tried to go into Recovery mode to see if it worked, it gave me the yellow triangle with an error message, "System software is unauthorized by AT&T" or something like that. I tried to look at other posts, and there was a general idea that I needed to flash the stock Kernel. Now, the way I rooted the phone in the first place, I already had two different ones downloaded. One was flashed, towelroot was used, and then the second kernel (which was the one that originally on my phone before rooting) was flashed. After that, it was rooted. So me, being the complete noob I am at rooting, decided to re-flash both, in order, to see if that cleared up the error message when trying to get into Recovery Mode. This did not solve the problem either.
Again, I would like to apologize for my lack of knowledge on rooting and such, so please forgive me for my incompetence. And yes, I know that there are other threads on topics like this, but I have tried several things and it has not worked. Any help on how to fix this problem (and how to install CWM properly on my phone - since it is updated to 4.4.4 TouchWiz - or if I should use TWRP instead, because I intend on downloading the Kangapop GPE ROM(and how to install that for my specific model/software version)) is greatly appreciated, thanks!

[root][twrp] need an up-to-date guide

I owned an i9100 back in the days, had some fun with it, but then it died. Now i got in possesion of another i9100 and can't seem to find anything i remember doing, like rooting and flashing recovery via odin. Also there are some dead links and things i cannot understand in guides i've seen. I did not quite focuse on them, just took a look, but there was nothing like "flash this and that via odin".
I've seem something called heimdall(?) in the twrp 3.3.x.x guide (is that the alternative to odin?)
The S2 is running on lastest stock JB. How do i get it rooted and flash recovery?
