Issue: Can't reinstall application - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone help me please; when I'm trying to install an app that I've previously uninstalled (because it didn't work), I'm getting error that I don't have enough space, altough I have more than 3 GB of free space. I've tried to boot CWM, wiped dalvik cache & fix the permissions, but that didn't helped.
New applications I can install with no issues, only old apps are bugging me.
I9300, XXELL5

What app is it? If it is a system app, that'd mean you'll have to push the apk

It's not the system app... First app is AfterFocus, second is game called Patchworkz. I tried to install older version, newest version but it just wont install...

[Q] Package file invalid on all packages

I don't know what the issue is, but I cannot seem to install/update anything from the market. I keep getting "Package file invalid". I wanna say the problem is s2e, but I have no idea.
I have the download cache, apps, and private apps moved to sd-ext.
I have an LG Optimus V running IHO.
clear data and cache for the market
and force stop it
and try download again, should be work

That unfortunately didn't seem to do anything. Still getting "Package file invalid" on new installs and upgrades. ='(
It's weird, some new apps install, but most don't. Also, no updates will install. =(
Try reinstalling/trying another *2sd script/app.
By the way, if third party content (Non-market) is installing, try flashing the latest GAPPS from ROM Manager/here.
Or reinstalling market (It's easy to manipulate system apps with Titanium Backup). If the market is installed as a user app, it will cause problems.

According to Titanium Backup, the market (version 3.1.3) is installed as a system app.
So, what apps2sd app (script) do you suggest? I have my apps installed on my sd-ext partition, so I don't think I can just use Cyanogenmod's built-in one.
I've tried re-flashing gapps, but that didn't help ='(
I /could/ just re-format my phone, and re-install the ROM, but I don't feel like it (I have backups of everything thanks to Titanium Backup).
I updated my market to 3.3.11, and that seems to have helped. Kinda.
I can install new apps now (well mostly, I still got "Package file invalid" on one or two), and I was able to update some apps (some still gave "Package file invalid").
I had to uninstall/reinstall to get some to update, also. The new market helps, but my problem's still not 100% fixed.

[Q] Market says: Insufficient Space

So here's my problem, when i try to install a huge app trought the market i got the message "Error [...] insufficient space on the device" or something like that.
I tried the EVS Market fix app, Cache Cleaner, wiping cache and dalvik-cache, but when i try to install for example "Where's my watter"(22MB) i got the error.
But this only happens with huge app, i can install any other app, i tried one of 4MB and worked fine.
I'm using Link2SD, partitioned SD card, and i got 110MB of free space on my internal memory.
And the ROM i'm using is on my signature.
Thanks in advance.
Its not abt ur internal memory...its the prob with cache..

I had that same problem a while ago. I saw that wiping data and cache of market app solves the problem for a while but after a couple of days it would come back again. I did some research and found(cant put url in here): search in market for MarketFix from Felipe Aron.
It worked for me. Hope that helps you.

1. update to stock ROM
2. Root your phone

4.backup Market app!
5. Go back to ur custom ROM
6. Just restore the market backup

I already tried wiping the caches, i'll try this MarketFix from Felipe Aron, and maybe someone has the link for the market app from stock rom?
i faced the problem b4! i have no choice but to chg to another custom rom.. ><
Unistall updates
Once I faced this problem too, I uninstalled the updates and got older version of market it worked fine and it got updated again and I never had the problem again
Just clear the Market cache. Don't do any other unnecessary steps.
Already tried that @SuperAce609 and didnt worked.
Ha, it's funny...
I am having the same problem and am running Grif's CM7.1.
I have tried uninstalling the Market updates and clearing it's cache and data (didn't help)
I have tried wiping Delvik Cache from CMR and no dice there either.
Tried the Market Fix app from the market and no fix there either.
I am thinking about starting fresh and re flashing.
Any body else have any other thoughts?
You have the same issue? Only with large app's?

Yeah dude, I am having exactly the same issue. I can install smaller programs, but I just tried installing Where's my Water and I get an error saying that there is insufficient space on the device.
I still haven't figured it out yet and I think I may have eff'ed up my Android Market in the process. I uninstalled updates and tried to download Where's my Water again and while that didn't work, my market is no longer updated even after I took the freeze off.
I am getting very frustrate.
If no solution, I am going to reflash and see if I still have this problem (but going to do it on the weekend).

Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available :(

Hi, I'm on Foxhound's Revolver Ocelot ROM and I keep getting these two messages whenever I try to download anything from the Play market;
Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available
I cannot download a single app from the Play market.
Please someone help me to resolve this, preferably without a factory reset.

Update
I've wiped cache and dalvick in recovery, but still the issue remains.
I've also wiped cache and data in Google Play Market and Download Manager, but error is still there.
Help, someone.

Try to download apps using another network connection. Sometime it many be a temporary network issue. Also try these methods http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html
try what MyLifeRocks10 said: "go into either the /system/app/ or /data/app/ directory and delete the odex file that has the same name as the respective .apk"
I'm trying to download Sports Car Challenge and am getting the same problems.
First it was insufficient storage space, so I rebooted, same problem. Then I unmounted sdcard, app cannot be installed in default location, so I remounted sdcard now I get package file invalid.
AAARRGGHHHH !
I've tried clearing cache of google play store but no difference.
I am running standard XWLPG firmware with CF-root.
Solved. Sort of.
I've spent two days prowling the web searching for solutions for the "package file invalid" error. My problem was that maps would not restore from a backup or install from the market. I did one of everything in an attempt to solve it, I'm pretty sure. Since it looks like the cache is simply jammed up, preventing the install of large Google apps, I used a Titanium Backup filter to list all my apps that reside on the phone rather than on the SD card. I uninstalled a few of the bigger ones (actually just three of the biggest) and then went to the market to install maps. Came through without a problem. Strangely, using Titanium again I was able to restore all those apps I'd uninstalled to make room for maps. I have no idea why that worked – it seems spatially impossible – but for now, at least, problem solved. What a total hair-puller the invalid package error is.
Hi.I have a problem..

[Q] Lucky Patcher Screwup

So I have a Galaxy Player 4.2 USA,
I went into Lucky Patcher to try to remove google ads and disable MXPlayer from creating ad storage and such.
I changed permissions and chose to Rebuild and Install!.
After about five minutes, nothing happened, and then the program quit itself (either or was closed by RAM manager)
So MXPlayer is now uninstalled and nowhere to be found. I tried re-installing from a backup APK I had of the app, but then I get
"Insufficient Space on SD Card"
error from not only the APK but also from the Google Play Store when I try to install this app specifically. I have plenty of available space so weird I'm getting that error.
Obviously I screwed something up, and I really don't know what to do. I read to delete Market cache and possibly even dalvik-cache,
but I don't know what's safe and what to do.
If someone could please tell me what the best option to do would be, that would be great.
Also yes device is rooted, running 2.3.6 Gingerbread, I have TiBu PRO installed and Root Brower.
Thanks!!

Usually Lucky patcher itself can fix that kind of problem i think. If you run Lucky patcher, it will automatically delete unused odex (patch files) which will prevent you installing original app. Wiping dalvik cache is recommended, for I never encountered problem by wiping dalvik cache.

Some off-market APKs won't install, but others will

Hey all,
I tend to download off-market apks quite a bit and this is the first time I've run into this issue. I'm trying to download the TomTom Go app and it keeps saying that the app package is corrupted. Whether I download it from a random site, Aptoide, or ACmarket, it doesn't matter. However, I tried testing it with a different app (AccuWeather) and it downloaded from off-market sources just fine and installed. I can't figure out the reason for this, since I tried several sources and all of them had the "it appears the app package is corrupted" error. If it helps, I'm running a rooted phone (RS988) with magisk and Xposed, with a TWRP recovery.
Thank you for any help you can give me!
Edit: I have tried wiping the data/cache of the package installer, I've tried moving the APK into my /system folder and changing the permissions, I've tried resetting the app preferences and I've restarted the phone. The next thing I'm going to try is wiping the dalvik cache and see if that fixes it. Also, quick sidenote, I can install any app I want from the play store.
