Just wondering for those with unlimited data plans what the average usage is.
When I got my note 2 I added a ghost line so I could upgrade and keep unlimited on my original line. The tech told me my average use was a little over 2gb a month.
This month with rooting, unlocking, watching how to videos and downloading 3 ROMs I have used over 12gb and I'm freaking out.
One guy on Rootzwiki says he burns through 80+GB a month. To me that is an insane amount.
What's your average?

It isn't hard.
I guess if I was a kid and bound to home, school, work, and friends' houses, it would be different. As an adult, I find myself in many places where there is no wifi available.

With sprint I was going through about 20gb/mo but I was constantly downloading movies to watch since I don't have internet at home anymore but since I switched to verizon it's been maybe 1gb/mo

With 2 lines we use about 140 a month. I don't have wifi every I go. We don't have house internet so we tether everything we need.
I tend to use around 2GB a month and the most I have used is 6GB in one month.
At work we have a 1Gbps connection and I have a 50mbps connection at home, so I always opt for WiFi.
According to Verizon I use an average of 14gb a month, my high was like 30 something. Alot of that is downloading and cracked flashing ROM lol.

I'm paying for the data. Should be mine to do as I please (within legal restraints obviously). I hate the misdirection about unlimited too. Unlimited as long you stay within a certain limit isn't unlimited. Should be black or white. Not grey with tons of fine print.
luckily ive been with tmobile for a looong time and i still have the true unlimited plan.
I use AT&T and I wifi tether on a Vibrant. I feel that wifi tethering is fine because we're paying for data anyway. Not our faults they invented something smarter than what they can control. It was those phone brands that decided to put that function into the phones. Whatever our phones come with should be made available for us to use. It's like what's the point of a front facing camera (besides camwhoring) if you cant Skype with it.

Ya I have unlimeted messages but it doesn't. Stop me at 3000 and I also have unlimited data it is unlimited but it slows down past 5gigs so that's where they get the right to do that not worth paying for "unlimeted" if it will slow down at 5gigs.

Was in DC for a few days and holy crap is it fast compared to 3G. Looks like Myrtle Beach is scheduled to get it 5/17 with the Rezound POSSIBLY getting ICS shortly thereafter (???). Could be a good month.

my city recently got 4 g and now my phone is blazing fast but it runs through my battery like crazy. But luckily for me when I went to my local verizon they have a half off deals on the extended battery.

I love 4g. My brother will ask me to do something for him on his 4s. Talk about slow. Takes him 5-10 minutes to download an mp3. I can do it in 20-30 seconds. Watching YouTube videos I run full HD and never stop to buffer. He runs standard definition and has to buffer every 30 seconds or so. I almost bought the 4s, but the screen, processor, and 4g that the rezound has is just no match.

I thought people were exaggerating until I moved from Sprint to Verizon in Los Angeles. Ridiculously fast.
Im loving 4G right now but once the Iphone gets it...... Lol. Done. Hello congestion. Unless it works differently for 4G.

That is true. When the iPhone gets it, I fully expect a big drop in speed. All those iPhone jerks, using up our bandwidth.

Well with the data caps and how locked down iPhones are I doubt it will be a big impact

From what I have noticed even with those limitations iPhones seem to use a ridiculous amount of data even when your doing nothing.

Agreed. My sister has a 4 and she used about a gig of 3G about 2/3 through our billing cycle. Over 3G that is alot of background data because she doesn't use the phone "that much" if you know what I mean. 90% of her use is texting, calling, and light browsing of memes.

Agreed. I just hope if they pull our unlimited, they give us much higher caps on the new plans. 10GB's would seem reasonable to me.

Ummm..I have a plan. It has unlimited data. I use it as I wish. Same with texts. If I pay for unlimited then I get unlimited. Since you want to play the Blame game...lets play.

If you had a termination fee that means you left sprint, therefore you'll have a higher monthly bill no matter where you go. Also, you'll have a metered internet cap with your spanky new 4G LTE phone, and therefore you've also opened yourself up to an overage bill on the internet if you are a moderate to heavy user.

Hello,
Thanks to being able to bill to my account, I ordered a 64gb iPhone 5 today. I am honestly not sure if I am going to end up keeping it as I have been using Androids since 2.1 (Eclair) and I really like the platform. However, I am frustrated that Sprint frakked the Photon 4G replacement and I am not fond of Samsung (too plasticky) and to a lesser extent HTC.
I was honestly praying that Sprint would get some sort of version of the RAZR. The Intel Atom powered RAZR looks amazing, but has only been announced for Europe and I think Asia.
Being with Sprint since 1999, I really am conflicted about the iPhone in general. Thanks to Sprint having to pony up Billions of Dollars just to offer the bloody thing. they have done away with the Premier Gold Program replete with 12 Month Upgrades, the ability to bill equipment to your account at any corporate owned Sprint Store, and far less understanding Account Services actions.
That being said., it will be nice to have tons of options for Accessories where with the Photon there are hardly any. Still, I am hoping a flagship Android Phone is announced by Sprint in the next month.

My wife just got the iphone 5 and it's pretty impressive. I don't understand why people here sound so indignant that a photon user would be jumping ship. There is a market for the iphone obviously. I find it a foolish exercise to try and compare phones and platforms. At the end of the day they do the same most of functions. At the end of the day
Choice of device is a personal one. If on the day I told myself I now longer care to think about my tech I might move to a different platform as well. People have reasons for moving to ios, and are better for it in many cases.

meh... i just needed to get that off my chest. I mean i stream music for about 1-2 hours a day and maybe :30 to 1:00 of YouTube a day and probably watch a couple movies a month with a few TV show eps and i don't usually go above 4gb monthly usage. That's just when I'm away from home. The rest of the time I'm on my home Wifi. People like that are trying to use that much data.

Im proud that I can do work on my ROMs while away from my home's router. Push updates at any moment. Download things to test at will. And never have to worry about going over my limit.
Ever think that I do use Wi-Fi when I'm at home but have no access anywhere else? Ever think I don't use data like a normal user? Ever contemplate the fact that I didn't use any of that 51gb to stream anything?
Go cry to someone else about your inability to keep your unlimited data plan. Nothing you can say is going to make me feel bad.

This. Verizon's leadership would like to thank us all for their fat bonus checks since the change. Ditto for all the campaign contributions paid to certain politicians to keep the 2gb or less average user BS rolling. They used historic data HEAVILY biased with 2g and 2.5g data usage in those numbers. Though not counting recent or forecasted usage based on bigger apps, cloud, HD streaming data (that the carriers are pushing) and devices with no sd cards for storage (the DNA as example had no card for a reason).
Common sense is that 4g with low data caps is absolutely pointless and counter intuitive to the premise of usage. Just a few HD YouTube or less than two movies bust past a 2gb cap. They LOVE it when our kids bust past the caps "by accident" and we pay $10 more increments. Why do you think Verizon does not set up an allocation lock down option as standard, for account holders so they can prevent this from happening? Surely you do not think they think the warning texts we get are the best solution to avoid cap busts. Their bonus system depends on cap busting. Feel the burn! Yowsa!
Sorry, but I have corporate friends with VZW and that is where I get insight from. I am in business too, so understand their practice. From a cold business side, bravo, but as a consumer, it sucks real bad.
Added: Until consumers push pack, we shall remain perpetually screwed. Heck, even some broad band providers do relatively low caps. Good luck with them PS4 and especially Xbox One consoles with broadband data caps. Yikes.

If someone has unlimited data, they should use it completely (hell they should even tether their entire house). Exploiting a business is the job of the consumer and vice-versa. You would only be helping out Verizon; consumers should never help out a business, especially one that persistently tries to scam its customers.

Also, I'm not trying to exploit anything. I'm actively working on projects that require downloads and uploads. I have unlimited data. And there is no reason to sip what I have. Next month I may only use <1gb. It depends entirely on what I'm working on.
I'm not really even sure why I'm trying to justify my usage. Im out.
