Samsung should have implemented some sort of feature similar to this app in the first place. What were they thinking when people had to reach over for the Home, Back, and Menu buttons while using the S Pen?

OP what theme is that?

Apex theme, dark holo grunge, clock is "one more clock" from play store and the wallpaper is from zedge
Tapn from the 4TH dimension........ Where their are no i-phones!!!!!!

Just a suggestion, but you might want to try the free Ring Weather widget.
It looks identical to the one you're using except the weather is perfectly centered in the weather ring instead of on top of everything.

Also a great one is lmt v1.7 found on xda.

Wow, this thread just totally changed how I use my phone. Loving it so far.

Is there a way to havean ap open when the s-pen is removed? To be specific, it would be nice to have button savior only active when the pen is out.

Not that I know of. I just make the pull out tab almost transparent and hit it when I need it
edit- you might be able to set up tasker(app from the market)to do just that.

I really don't see the need for this app. I know a TON of GN2 users like it, but I can't thing of any scenario I would actually use it. We have the physical menu, home, and back keys. We can get to the list of all open apps by double tapping the home button, and the "X" key seems useless to me. Just hit home or switch to another app? I'd love to know why you guys love this app so much.

Because you can't use the S Pen on the capacitive buttons, which really sucks if you use it a lot. LMT launcher is my absolute new favorite. Kill apps, set long press actions and activities, and it looks cool as s**t. It's all personal preference tho.

[Q] Drop Down Toggles

Does anyone know if it will be possible to have toggles for wifi/bt/gps/silent/data in the notification drop down like other phones have?
You can download Widgetsoid and when you make a Widget it will give you the option of adding it to the notification bar.
When it's there, though, and you click on something it will open a new little popup window to press the buttons..kinda weird, dunno why it does that.

This prevents notification bar widgets from directly controlling phone functions then? So it's safe to assume Extended Controls would do the same?

i don't think that does what the OP wants, which is toggles within the notification bar (ala Samsung phones).
as far as i've seen, we can only have the clickable pop-up widget version that was described above.
This has come up before..
This is good as your gonna get Notification Toggle
I use BATTERY GAUGE. it has a drop down menu when activated and shoes me battery percent. A must have app IMO

Yeah I guess I was spoiled with my samsung (before this thread I was not aware this was a samsung only feature). I really miss this feature... wish it came standard on all androids. The closest one to what I want is notification toggle, but it's still more clicks to what I want.
widgetsoid is closet that I can get,I too hate how we have to do at least two clicks instead of one like on CM7. But at least it's close and looks clean

Note 2 multitasking on S3?

So heres the new release video for the note 2(which i might say looks very impressive)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOX3HYDwTCY&feature=player_embedded
The hardware is great and all, BUT what i found to be very impressive is the new software it uses.
Watch the video and look at the new multitasking UI at 2.04
The question I have is, do you think this multitasking interface will be ported to the galaxy s3?, it has the power to handle it, but the screen size might be a small issue
If not I might actually trade my S3 for the Note II. It looks great!!!!!
It looks great, but I can't see any real world use for that. Multitasking on Android was tried before with the name Cornerstone. I tried it on my Xoom, which is a 10" device, but I quickly found out it's not any better than normal way of multitasking, which is one app at a time. Humans can only concentrate on one thing at a time, anyway.
What Samsung really needs to do is get rid of the stupid physical home button, or at least put a separate multitasking key. That idiotic home button is hard to press even once, let alone press and keep holding to get recent apps. I find myself often relaunching apps from launcher rather than keeping home button pressed. That's the number one thing hampering multitasking on Samsung devices.

I agree, an individual button for multitasking is really needed in the Galaxy S series, HTC succeeded in implementing it into their One X

It does take screen still, the nexus has a slightly lower resolution at apps, because they need to be cropt to gain the space for the software buttons.
A capacitive button would be the solution for my opinion. About the multitasking button, almost every rom at the one x or one s (at least afaik), has the buttons remapped to make the multitasking button a menu button.

Gesture control requires root control which i prefer to stay away from, beause i had a bad expierence with my s2 doing it

I just use it for all apps because I like the way its designed. I am using swipe pad for almost everything but after discovering LMT, I am wanting to get the most out of that
Were you ever able to get gestures to work? I cant get mine to work... wondering whats my problem.

Oh man I thought I was going crazy for not getting it to work... Glad to others have the same issue.
Sent from somewhere between being awake and asleep.
LMT does have a pretty high learning curve. I can't get it to bring up the phone dialer. When I assign the "phone app" to a pie piece, the screen just goes blank after I select it.
I did find that making the piecontrol activation area thickness a lot wider than default makes it much easier to not accidentally get the Apex/Nova launcher menu.

[APP] LMT Launcher (Pie control)

This is cool !! Similar to Pie control on PA roms.
Watch the video to see what it does - if you like it, get the latest version and follow the install instructions.
Once installed, go to menu - Set Gesture Input and check number 2 (Nexus 4, etc.)
Reboot may be required, after that it is smooth.
Please note the OP says you must go completely to the edge of the screen to activate and can be a little tricky at first if your phone is in a case. Enjoy !!

I know on Apex (and I'm assuming Nova) you can set a gesture in the home screen to open the app drawer.
I always set mine to swipe up, like the old school android app drawer.
If you can still use your hardware buttons, you can also set the home button to toggle the app drawer/homescreen in most launchers.
Been using this on and off for a almost a year now. Sometimes I'm in love, other times it gets in the way.
I'm using LMT along with Swapps (free on play store), which is a perfect combination. Now, I have no reason to open the app drawer and my homescreen only contains a weather widget.
thanks

[How-To][CM10.1] Disable HW keys, and enable softkeys

Not sure if it has been tackled here yet, but it just took me half an hour to figure this out. So to make the world a better place, without further adieu: How-to disable your galaxy note's capacitive Hardware keys, and enable soft keys on CM10.1.
1. Go into your build.prop file with a text editor, which is found in your system folder on the root of your internal memory.
2. Go to the bottom of the file, and enter the following without the quotes "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0", save the file. (This turns on softkeys on reboot)
3. Now find the melfas_touchkey.kl file, which is found in system>usr>keylayout. (This turns off capacitive keys on reboot.) Delete all the information in that file, it should look like this before the deletion:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Back out of the file explorer, go into the settings app, click advanced, move over to sensors and uncheck "Enable keys backlight" (this turns off the backlight when you touch the screen)
5. You're done, reboot your phone, and enjoy your new softkeys!
Best part about this is that the capacitive key notification lights still work!
To reverse any of this, do the exact opposite of this guide (re-enter the info in that touchkey.kl file, remove the qemu line in the build.prop and turn the capacitive backlight back on in settings)
Anyone know how to do this with the Official Jelly Bean ROM. I tried to do this with Official ICS as well with poor results.
Inputting
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Will result in having on-screen keys but the back and multi tasking buttons are reversed.
I can find Melfas under the key layout...
And how to disable backlight of the capacitive buttons cos there isn't that option in settings.
That's strange...the screen shot didn't show my on screen keys??
It is menu, multi tasking, home and back on this screen.
Of course when back inn the home screen it reverts to three buttons: multi tasking, home and back button. I'd like it to be in this order: back, home then multi tasking

I've been using this for a while on jamies super nexus rom. You might need to use exposed because the buttons don't show on landscape in some layouts. cool to know it works on cm that means it should work on jamies chameleon os rom. I also Use jamies disable captivate lights to make full use of the nav bar.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Just out of curiosity.. what is the point of this? I've seen a bunch of people doing this, a bunch of custom roms support this. To me it just seems like you're taking up more screen space for buttons that are already built into the phone. Is there some added functionality I'm missing?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Its mostly personal preference unless you have a device with broken hard keys. I dislike the hard buttons and disable them. I know in roms like jamies supernexus its the only way you can access the recent apps menu. You only lose like an inch of screen not that big of a deal imo.
