[Q] Unroot Phone from Backup - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings All,
I rooted my phone a few months ago with the help of GalaxyS2Root on YouTube. As soon as I rooted it, I made a backup. I flashed the SuperNexus ROM and now the Resurrection Remix ROM.
I have attempted to restore the original backup I made prior to flashing the phone to the above ROMs and it succeeded (after altering the md5 file). I noticed that there's still the yellow triangle at the boot sequence which states that the phone is still rooted. How do I unroot a backup? Do I have to download an official ICS ROM or can I simply flash a file through Odin?
Some Details:
- Purchased Samsung Galaxy S2 in the Philippines UNLOCKED (i9100)
I apologize for the newbie questions.
Awaiting for your replies

Are you going to unroot? Well, you can unroot a backup. If you are going to unroot, use triangle away then flash an offical rom.

What do you mean by FLASH an official ROM? Through Odin? Are you talking about the ICS Official ROMS floating around? Wouldn't that wipe all my data?

Unroot/Restore to stock

Hey I recently rooted my galaxy s2 using the zergling program, then flashed Resurrection ICS Remix v1.0.
Just for future reference if I ever want to restore everything to stock/unroot I just need to factory reset, flash stock kernal (XWKI4) and flash stock firmware (XWKI4) using Odin? If not what exactly do I need to do to restore it?
I couldn't really find a definitive yes or no answer so I'd figured I'd make a thread .
Thanks for any help =).
Yeah just flash back to a stock firmware. Use a USB jig to reset flash counter.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
If after using the jig your flash counter isn't restored, you sould flash via odin an older bootloader then use the jig again and finally flash the new bootloader.
search at this thread for "bootloader".
Thanks for the info guys

Fix a bootloop problem after trying to unroot.

Please help, after I rooted my Galaxy S2 (international version) with a CyanogenMod 9 Resurrection 4.0.4 ICS, I wanted to unroot it back to official 4.0.3. I've already read a few threads and have done some of them but nothing seems to work.
ps, i used odin's option PDA to root my phone, and according to the threads i just read to unroot it i have to download an official rom and use the PDA option to unroot my device. But all it did is to bootloop my phone. help please, im new at this.

What you need to do is to first reboot into recovery, format /system partition, THEN flash the stock rom by Odin...... hope I helped

This happened to me
I had the same problem when I first unrooted. Go into stock recovery after flashing the official ROM and do a factory reset.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Stock Rom

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is somehwere I can download the Official rom from.
I installed cyanogen mod 9 on my S3 using clockwork recovery mod and it wiped my backup.
I have tried sammobile but the problem is I need it for version: I9300XXLH1. I am located in Australia.
While on the topic, I have a friend who is using a S3. Could I possibly install CWM and copy a backup off his phone?
Please help, I miss all my features haha.
The official stock rom does not exist .
Many official roms .
CHECKFUS is probably your best method .
Could I possibly install CWM and copy a backup off his phone?
Probably .

Why don't you just flash the JB rom with Odin that was released yesterday.
After that, go into stock recovery and do a wipe data/factory reset and you're good to go.

[Q] Upcoming official 4.2.1 update

Official JB update for SGII wil be 03.03.2013, and I wanted to ask a question.I have a rooted phone with Siyah v5.0.1 kernel, with orginal ROM. Can I update my phone to official 4.1.2 with a rooted phone with Siyah kernel ? Or I must unroot my phone and get my stock kernel.
I now it may sound like a noob question but I'm new here so better I ask someone.
Thanks.
the easiest way is to simply flash the Rom with odin,
worst case scenario is that you have to wipe data/Factory reset after flashing,
so make a nandroid and a backup with titanium backup or something similar.
just so you have a cliff to lean back on.
unless you flash with mobile odin you will lose root though,
but then youll only have to flash a new rooted kernel and you should be good to go!

Thanks for the guide, So only to be sure.
I donwload the official ROM, then I flash it with odin and then if I want to root my phone again I must flash a rooted rom.
And the official update contains the stock kernel ? Because I got alredy a backup done with CWM and when I flash the official ROM and it will replace Syiah kernel with CWM and if somenting goes wrong then I can't restore it .

You can thank me if i helped you
Well, I erased the wrong nandroid and wiped out my stock ROM. So I can't revert to stock and unroot ready for the official ota without using Odin (which I have NO intentions of doing lol) but then, I'm currently running 4.2.2 anyway...so I'm not sure I would....even if I could.....
And tbh.....I like not having all that bloatware......

I would not unroot the phone. Just use Odin for flashing the new firmware and after that you can root it again. For me it's much saver than using buggy Kies...

I've got a nandroid backup from my stock ROM in PC and on USB so if somenting goes wrong I just copy it to phone.
But my question is when I flash the official rom 4.1.2 it will unroot my phone and CWM recovery mode will be deleted because of new kernel, and if there somenting goes wrong how should I backup it when there will be no CWM recovery mode .

If there will be no cwm you could flash a different kernel from Odin

Hello,
Find your JB firmware from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
But don't forget to make a full wipe, before flashing anything.
