I'd like to bring again into attention this lack of functionality of both Android and WinMo devices.
As far as I know, with the exception of Nokia and some Sony-Ericson devices, no others notify about receiving a call made on a diverted phone.
That is, if I have 2 numbers (A and B) and A is diverted to B, if I receive a call on A I don't see a "diverted" icon (or sign of any kind) on the phone with number B.
Still no solution or software for this?
P.S. Also when you call somebody and you are waiting on line (the other party has "call waiting" activated), there is no "waiting" sign to notify you.
This call waiting issue is also present on iPhone. I don't understand why these two functions are not present in smartphones (except Nokia Symbian) and at the same time the cheapest dumb phones have them
Actually, call waiting works for me. Whenever I am on a call and someone else calls, I hear a beep and I can see on the screen that I have another call. If I don't answer, the other call stays in my call history as an unanswered call.
About the first issue, I wondered about that too. I had a really dumb Sony Ericsson phone which supported this feature.
P.S. I misread your call waiting issue... Whenever I call someone who has call waiting I get a beep that tells me I am waiting... However, as far as I know this is an operator feature. On another operator a voice actually tells you to wait because the other party is talking.

I didn't switch to another operator, I just switched from Nokia E66 to iPhone and later to Legend when I lost that feature.
i get another issu too !!
and am sure you all get it ..
in (smart) dumb phones when i call my manager (and my manager is already talking in a call with his wife for example) it gives me different call sound tone, to notify me he is in a call so i stop calling and wait to call again later ...
in (stupid) smart phones, Windows Mobile and Legend !
if i call my manager and he is already in a call, i never hear anything to notify me! so i dont stop my call , and it really seems so stupid and disturbing from me sometimes !
the reason is what ?
i dont really know ....
is it that much hard to put these simple options ?
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11026
... suggests that the functionality is within the stock Android dialler, but not in the HTC dialler. Use a ROM that allows you to install the standard dialler and use that by default?

I was talking about "call waiting" notification when you are calling someone that has call waiting function, not when you are the one that is called and you're notified about a second incoming call. biomy explained better the idea that I was talking about.
And no, there is not about the operator. You can have a nokia on any carrier, it'll work the same. It's just the way the phone or it's software decodes the incoming call signal. As this is received by all phones the same, I presume any phone/software can decode it in the same way nokia is doing if it has this implemented. As far as I know though, there is no application on the market (paid or free) that does this simple thing. I'm sure most of us will even pay for it.
Same here.. All calls from my boss diverted to my number if he didn`t pick up phone in 10 seconds.. My old Nokia 6233 show green arrow for diverted calls, but no any notification about it with my Samsug Galaxy Spica and Samsung Galaxy S.

Any updates on this please?
I have the same issue. No diverted call icon when an incoming call which has been diverted comes through
No update...seems like nobody has found a solution to it. Still waiting, pity we don't have such thing
Maybe we're not so many that needs this, in order for someone to start looking and develop something. My hope is that a developer will need this feature at some time and he'll start doing it. (or we should find a Nokia with Android )
If some android phones have the diverted call notification (galaxy s on 2.1) can the code be ported to other devices?
I divert calls from my work phone to my personal mobile, and really need to be able to tell when I'm receiving a diverted call from my work number
Samsung is the second phone brand that includes this in all or most of their phones. Doesn't matter if it's Android or not, Nokia and Samsung has this feature (and as I know they're the only ones to do it).
Maybe there is hope if an Samsung Android phone (Galaxy S) has it...maybe there will be a developer that will try to find a way or reverse engineer the ROM to find the code for it. I am willing to pay for it for sure and I'm sure some other will as well.
Diverted Call Display app for Android
After the issue bothered me enough, I have made an attempt at detecting incoming diverted calls.
The app is using the device log to find out if an incoming call is diverted, and thus needs READ_LOGS permission. READ_PHONE_STATE is needed to get notified about incoming calls.
So far the app has been tested on CyanogenMod 5 and 7 on GSM/UMTS phones. It probably won't work at all on CDMA devices and neither on devices which already implement any type of diverted call notification.
Please test if it works for you and tell me your Android firmware version (and if it's an AOSP-based community firmware).
Nexus S 3G i9023, CM7.1.0-NS - works well )) Thank you.
Xperia Arc 2.3.4 original rom OK.
I would like to be saved in the call log.
It works perfect in HD2, HyperDroid-CM7-v5.3.0 [CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.7][seader_R9].
Thanks
That's a great thing, you've made...alot of people happy.
Unfortunately, I've changed my Legend and replaced it with a Desire S. Playing with other ROMs, I've finally installed a MIUI ROM and it seems this "diverted notification" IS integrated in MIUI. So for me the problem was solved by having a MIUI ROM. Though I'll ask my friend who's now the owner of my ex Legend to test this...he's still using CM 7.1 on it.
Works fine on Motorola Defy with MIUI 2.3.5.
Thank You very much Ge0rG for such a beautiful solution of that problem.
Can you please add to your application notification for "call waiting" and "on hold"?
Because Motorola's and HTC's doesnt have this features.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
P.S. I was talking about "call waiting" notification, when you are calling someone that has call waiting function & you call him on the second line.
Brilliant... Works a treat for me...
HTC Desire HD - Stock (Orange UK) ROM.
Android 2.3.3
Kernel 2.6.55.10
Thanks - brilliant idea and well implemented - congratulations.

Works on Nexus One with actual cyanogenmod nightly (cm_passion_full-253, 7.2.0-RC0(?)). Perfekt!
It will be great, if this could be included in cyanogenmod directly.
Posting this to see if anyone else has this, and if any one knows how to make it work.
I use Google Voice for my international calls, but after the upgrade the dialer takes over, Google voice can not be used to "only make international calls"
i have to use "ask for every call" which is not the best solution.
[EDIT] that option does not work either
I'm having the exact same problem.
I even made several international phone calls, thinking that maybe Google Voice was running in the background... now I'll get hit with the charges for international calls from AT&T :s
Any solution to this problem?
I'm using the X10i 2.1 Global firmware on a X10a (AT&T)
hope this helps

I found a way to make calls by google voice. I went to the browser, went to the google voice website, and from there, I placed the call. Then I received the phone call from my google number, and it connected me to the number I was calling.
It's more troublesome than just using the app, but it is a workaround.
Any other ideas or solutions?

When you do that, aren't you still using the GSM network and your sim card to have the call connected?
I am having identical problems (2.1 Nordic) and trying to use google voice over WiFi to avoid using network minutes but Sony's dialer takes over... hopefully sony or GV will update and fix this real soon... very frustrating

I use Google Voice for international calls... so I'm still using my GSM minutes, but just as a local call, not with international rates.
Have same problem. Cost me one expensive international phone call.
Generic FW, Build 2.0.A.0504 - X10i/ATT USA
GV screen comes up, then native dialer takes over. Have used workaround posted above, but naturally would just like to be able to use it as intended.
Just a heads up to anyone who has updated to 2.1.
I have the Rogers 2.1 and using AT&T as the carrier. GV does not work for ANY of my outgoing phone calls even when I specify to use GV only.
If the issue is SE's dialer, is there a way to revert back to the generic dialer?
Thanks
I'm also having this issue, only after recently upgrading my X10 to the generic 2.1 software. I wonder if anyone has found a solution yet?
I've had this problem since day 1, since I'm from Canada and use my GV to call my american / long distance friends. I have had to use the website workaround since day one, and it really bugs me. When I was working from the iPhone app, it worked properly (call me, then call the number I'm trying to call). Since switching to my X10a, I can't have it just call me, it uses the dialer directly.
So, I use up about 100-200k of my data plan to make the call. Not a big deal, just kind of annoying.
To those of you who have already got a hand on the phone - Does it support Google Voice outgoing call interception (on Huawei's EMUI stock ROM)?
I use Google Voice so I want my outgoing calls to display my GV #. What I figured is that the Google Voice app will intercept the outgoing call intention and then dial a different number. Then the receiving party will see my GV # as the calling number. This works on almost all Android phones until I got a Huawei MediaPad X1. Huawei's EMUI broke GV's call interception: the phone will ignore Google Voice app's call interception request and just directly call out. Receiving party will see the cell phone number but not the GV #.
Is Honor 5X still the same way or not?
Thanks.
Good question, i would have just assumed that GV worked on it. But the fact it doesn't work on some Huawei devices makes me wonder.
Yes, it works just fine.
I can confirm it works on the US model
Thanks much to the confirmation!
Someone left a bad review on Amazon saying how they cant get wifi-calling working on their Honor 5x. I assume they are referring to Tmobile wifi-calling since AT&T only has that for IPhone users and this phone does not work for CDMA users.
Does anyone know of any AOSP roms with working Wifi-Calling yet? This webpage says its open source and is possible.

It is possible, but quite hard without the stock rom having wifi calling already
just gonna have to wait for marshmallow i heard it comes with wifi calling integrated into the os, and people have tested it on the nexus devices and it works just fine.
Can someone confirm if it works on any model other than L24 (US)? I have a Mate 8, and am trying to figure out if it doesn't work because of hardware or software
Google voice calling is not working for me on this phone (I have the L24). I get "call not sent" message and then it uses my mobile #

I read online the new december patch that came out, made changes to the AOD. I just noticed.. that when a notification comes in, its like a rain drop. The app icon drops from the top of the screen, and bounces into position.
Is there anything else you have noticed.
It fixed the imbalanced and distorted speakers of the Pixel 3 XL
Apps persist in the background longer so switching is smoother.
Does anyone know if the update fixed the issue with the pixel stands and audio notifications or lack there of?
I noticed that battery life is really shorter with december update...
It fixed a few things for me:
- I used to have phone call problems like people suddenly can't hear me - this seems now resolved.
- the usb-c headphones are now detected every time when I plug them in - before it often wouldn't detect them
- phone seems smoother

Seems normal to me, it just takes a day or two for the system to adjust caches and optimize the battery again. They probably tweaked the battery AI as well.

It doesn't beep on your side, but it does beep for your recipient, and it's also provider dependant. Tried using EE SIM, no beeping, then put back my Vodafone SIM and beeping is back. This article here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/call-recording-tone-implemented-android-t3876483 did say the tone will only be activated if carrier wants it. Damn Vodafone, wish I knew it before signing 24 months contract with them. Now my only hope is that someone with Vodafone and brains good enough will find how to deactivate this new Android feature...

I can't answer that. I didn't use it on other phones, and haven't used any other call recorders on the Pixel 3, so can't compare it. I just checked my battery usage and it doesn't even show up on the list of apps using battery, so certainly not a battery hog when not on a call. I don't make many calls so haven't noticed any abnormal battery usage with it installed. It has a visible button on the call screen so it's easy to start or stop the recording if you want.

It might have been November's or previous update, but it's one of those released after the article was written (February if I remember correctly). The fact that you don't have a beep means your network carrier did not activate this new Android feature. Vodafone did :crying:

Ok. Can't dispute what you're saying. Seems odd that Google Fi wouldn't conform to Google's Android spec, but I'm not complaining. Might be related to Google Fi using other carriers, Sprint and T-Mobile, in the US since it appears from your observation it's carrier dependent. Our call recording laws vary by State as well which could complicate implementation here.

I do apologize, english not being my first language I sometimes do struggle to make sense :cyclops: It's weird that the article won't open though
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-p-call-recording-tone-support-record-phone-calls-lawfully/
Android P will add Call Recording Tone support so you can Record Phone Calls Lawfully
Android P will be adding support for a call recording tone so users on certain carriers will be aided in recording phone calls lawfully, according to a series of recent commits. This is not native support of call recording being added to Android P which already exists but is not implemented by most OEMs. This is simply so that a user on the other end of a phone call can be made aware the phone call is being recorded, and will only be enabled if the carrier wishes the device to play the tone.
The tone is a 1400Hz note that will play every fifteen seconds if the carrier enables it. It works by detecting the package name of a call recording app using the previously linked API. If any such package is detected, then the outgoing call will have the tone played to warn the other end that their call may be recorded. The tone will be automatically played depending on carrier configuration, which is determined by the SIM card.
According to the commits, Vodafone Germany is the only carrier that this call recording tone support will be mandated (for now), as the MCC/MNN combination mentioned in one of the files matches Vodafone’s carrier identity: 26202. This was likely done because Germany is two-party consent when it comes to call recording, not one party like some other countries. This means that the person on both ends of the phone line needs to know that they are being recorded, and calls may not be recorded without each party’s consent.

I'm in the UK too. You must have some app recording, because as soon as I switch off ACR, beeping stops. I've lost my hope to find a solution as issue is isolated to one carrier and not too many people will care, wish I didn't sign up with Vodafone for 24 months now...
I allowed a security/software update to install on my phone the other day. Now I am unable to make any calls. It doesn't even connect to voicemail just goes to call ended. My service provider isn't having issues and tech support isn't able to help it seem. I'd like to know if anybody can provide a guide on how to roll back the update.
Thanks!

I called them already and they didn't really help, called service provider too and that didn't really help either.
Completely different phone but I had a nearly identical problem with my Samsung S9 (960U1) on AT&T. Happens fairly frequently, or did. Come to think of it, it's been a few weeks or more, at least, since I've had the problem. Only way that reliably "fixed" it was a complete reset of Network Settings.
