You can try a normal factory reset in settings or CWM, or super wipe. In addition there is mega wipe which deletes anything, so be careful. You can find both flashbacks flashable zips via search function.
Also check if you backup some data, eg Swype lets you backup all settings and restores.

Factory reset after root?

My software on my droid x2 isn't doing good. From what I have seen something will happen in the background that causes all my system apps to restart, only they never finish restarting which begins to devour my memory and eventually leads to my phone freezing up. Also the ringtones like to change randomly to default (alarms set in third party apps too).
I was hoping rooting and getting rid of bloatware would solve this problem but it is still persisting. I thought I could restore backed up system apps with Titanium Backup so I was removing the apps. I'll leave them "restoring" for 45 minutes with no luck (I tried both just restoring the app and restoring both apps and data). So apparently it doesn't work like that.
My question is if I do a factory reset with my phone in its current condition, will I have an issue?
If u diddnt freeze the apps then you might. Did u back them up before u removed them?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Yes I backed up all of them, but when I go to restore them it doesn't work. It just keeps restoring them eternally. I waited 45 minutes for app only restore and it wasn't done.
If I am just clearing data in the process of a factory reset, can I maybe wipe data manually or with a tool that wipes data?
Anyone know the answer to this? I tried installing from the apk pack of services, but not all of them would install. My phone really needs a factory reset, I'm getting a lot of software related errors.
Could I maybe manually wipe certain apps? If anyone happens to know which built in apps are okay to wipe I would like to know.

Not all the apps in system can be installed via tapping on them. They need to be manually moved to system/app then change permissions. You can copy all over using root explorer

All you need to do is swap internal and external mount points. My Eclipse ROM has this built in. There is an init.d script that is floating around here that will do it as well.

Can't Restore Nandroid backup. What shall I do?!

I created a backup because I wanted to try a mod ,I didn't like the mod because it messed up the system UI.
So I tried to restore the backup however I ended up with the Samsung logo flashing?
I advanced restored the boot image and the phone started but all my apps were force closing , then I tried the full restore however the /data section wouldn't restore because it was corrupted
what's my best option? I've currently decided to boot to the nandroid menu and go on wipe data/factory reset , the phone has restored and I'm restoring using Titanium Backup. This will bring back my user apps I think?. But is there any way to restore wifi passwords and bookmarks and calendar appointments?
Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance
I am pretty sure that by signing into your Google account it should restore your WiFi passwords and bookmarks automatically

Before flashing anything.. go to recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache, when done "fix permissions" ,this option is located in advanced menu in recovery. Now reboot.
Use "titanium backup" to backup BT WIFI and other settings.
Ps. Don't restore system apps, only the app data if absolutely necessary.

I've used Mobile Odin to flash the stock LFB .I've done this before perfectly.
But this time once I load the file the:
Kernel,Recovery,System,Cache, Modem and Hidden are filled in
Param and Data are clear.
And I tick:
Enable everroot .Inject SU ,Inject Mobile Odin.
And I select
Wipe data and Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Then I select flash firmware.
the mobile Odin screen pops up and it shows the progress when it flashes the
kernel recovery system hidden
and wipes the dalvik cache
However the Message App still force closes!
could somebody please help me out ? I'm getting proper stressed now

Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
jje
Did u download the additional file beside the app itself. Either from mobile Odin thread or if bought it from market, then turn on wifi and open Odin again and u be asked to download additional file.
remember to grant superuser permission.
Update from the idiot, partial success achieved .
I ended up flashing the stock rom using odin on the desktop then I flashed CWM recovery rooted supersu etc
Then I started the phone, memory card is intact, however phone memory was wiped. Luckily my titanium folder is on the memory card. So luckily I was able to restore the apps and data. No force closes now
The stuff I lost on the internal memory was music (now restored) camera pics (most restored thanks to dropbox) ringtones and bookmarks.
However I have much more free internal memory than before, so I was wondering whether I could be missing an important folder or something than may cause issue with apps or is there anything important I might have lost?
Thanks once again for helping an idiot out

Important in fact when your phones internal storage was wiped it very likely got rid of the traces of any file that could cause problems.

How long does it take to full wipe, install new rom and restore apps+data?

Hey guys/girls.
How long does it take you to do a full wipe, flash and restore? I've only ever installed one rom and was wondering how long it takes.
Also what is the process invlolved in how you do it?
Is it backup with titanium then go into cwm and Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache, Format System partition and Install rom. Then get titanium and restore everything?
U can use TitaniumBackup to backup apps and restore them when u flash new rom. I rarely use it. I do cwm backup of complete rom and then install and try new rom from scratch... U can do whatever u like.
Averege time for things u asked is aprox. ~10-20min..

In my experience, Titanium Backup should be used sparingly, It IS totally brilliant, but, depending on the ROM you are flashing from/to is like trying to shove a square peg into a round hole, it will go in, but it ain`t happy about it.
Also the amount of time it takes depends on how many apps you have installed.
Before you actually use Titanium, it is a wise idea to go into the preferences, and make sure the "migrate system data" and the "restore app external data" boxes are ticked. (should be default setting IMO)
From a fully app`d ROM do a full backup of sytem and user apps, but when it comes to restoring them, restore the apps only, the restoration of app data should be done selectively, and the most common system data(contacts, call logs, sms history etc) are usually highlighted green.
Then just use your phone and any time you come accross an app that is missing its data, restore it on a "per app" basis.
All this may take a bit longer than the 15-20 mins quoted, but rarely more than an hour.
This has been a reliable method for the 50 odd times I`ve flashed my SII, and the 20 odd times I`ve flashed my SIII....Hope this helps
I was just on I9300XXDLI8 and due to missing picture and music I decided to wait for the official.
Odin the Original Image 5 minutes
Wipe Data 1 Minutes
Phone Initial Setup (with usual play and gmail account) 3 minutes
FULL restore from Kies (119 apps and all other data) 35 minutes
Usual Play Store update for out of date apps 10 minutes
Took a total of 54 minutes.
AJW
Use Go Backup. Titanium fails to do auto restore often, resulting to a manual restore of all your data with Titanium backup using install, enter, done, install, enter, done' repeatedly.
Go Backup restores all without a single problem

A little cautious here maybe, but TB backup, boot into clockwork android backup, format system and data wipe cache / dalvik. Flash rom, restore apps but no data from titanium then restore data for a select bunch of apps (banking apps which require authentication and similar) restore call logs, sms via TB. Total time approx 1 hour.

Good job I saved contacts to SIM or it would of been annoying, thanks everyone!
I thought I bricked it last night too lol, I was flashing "UltimaROM" and was instructed to wipe the phone with his custom installer using Super Wipe. I did that and it just froze, was making no progress at all so I turned it off. It kept rebooting over and over and wouldn't get into recovery mode for ages but it eventually did.
Can anybody answer my kernal question? Is it safe to flash a custom kernal after ROM? I only ask because I read somewhere certain kernals/rom flashing causes a "brick bug" or something
