[Q] how to set custom notification tone - AT&T LG Optimus G

first of all I went through more than 5pages of the q&a thread but
no one had asked this question yet
for some reason I couldn't set a custom notification tone no matter what I do...its only in mp3 format and I even tried converting it to ogg format but still didn't work, I also tried putting it in the system/media/audio/notifications and tried to change it in the settings but it would only see it but not set it, when I select it - it would just go back to default tone.. my phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked, any help is greatly appreciated.

[Q] Alcatel OT-997D : Custom Ringtones Keep Losing after Restart or Mount

Hello
I have an Alcatel OT-997D. I have a problem with my custom ringtones. I have a folder ringtones or in other cases \media\audio\ringtones (in phone storage and not SD). When I mount the card, or when I restart the phone, or in unknown cases, the ringtones go back to the default, the contacts associated also are lost and revert to the default. I have seen other people also had this problem but all the solutions included rooting of the phone (so to gain access to system folder) something that I want to avoid. Is there any other way to solve my problem?
Best regards
Akis
Is there any way to treat different ogg to mp3's?
It seems every of my efforts to find a solution have failed. I have found that Samsung Nexus S, HTC Evo 4G, HTC Desire C, Sony Ericson Mini, Motorola Droid2 and others are having this problems and everyone had to root their phones to fix it.
It seems all the 997 phones have this problem. I am informed that within January there will be another update that will solve this problem.

Well only way that I can change a ringtone is to Root, and place a file named as one of the default sound ringtone files in system/media/audio/ringtones
If i do change it in a regular way, my phone just restarts. I am rooted so maybe thats is the case... strange anyway
You mean that if you use an application and then "Use as Ringtone" it restarts????
Adding them to the system folder it solved the problem?

[Q] Adding RIngtones/Notifications to Korean JB ROM

I'm running the Korean JB ROM, but can't add ringtones/notifications. I used Zedge to download the ones I want, but get an error message in Zedge when trying to set them. I then tried manually moving them into the ringtones and notification folders via Astro File Manager. Still no luck. Also tried renaming them to m4a from mp3. When I go into Settings/Sound/Phone ringtone or Notification sound, they never show up in the list.
Any way to get them to work?

[Q] Ringtone Changes to its Original one

Dear all,
I have a Huawei mediapad s7-931u and I wasn't happy with its firmware, so I downloaded the new update from the manufacturer's website and upgraded using the SD. then I rooted my phone. after that, any change in the phone apps or connecting to Hisuit would result in changing my ringtone to phone's original one. what's really funny is that that ringtone cant be found anywhere and I have searched system/media/audio three times and I could not find it. and also, the name of the ringtone in the settings/sound is the one I have chosen but that does not ring! even other ringtones of the phone do not work.
now I have unrooted my phone which I thought would be the solution. But IT IS NOT. the original firmware is deleted from the Huawei website and I don't have a back up. the problem is still bothering me. I would really appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks.
Regards,
Mohsen

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100, ROM Resurrection Remix® 4.4.2 v5.0.8
That happened to me on SlimKat, and the only way to fix it was full format ( phone and sdcard ), factory reset. Just reinstalling the rom was not helping.
What I think happens is that media scanner get's stuck on some corrupted file and just can't locate the ringtones.
Given all the kitkat related SdCard issues I went back to using 4.3 JB. I'm not saying you should do the same, but if you have a sdcard in the phone and you don't want it crashing every 2 days or so it's something worth considering.

Hello There
OK, i did it all over again.
I have formatted the memory cards, delete all cache and factory default and re-flash the ROM v5.0.8 and same as 5.0.9.
I still have that problem, cannot set notification ringtones.
I think that it is a bug in the ROMs. in v5.0.7, did not had the problem.
is there a way to send the group a system log for they could see and fix the problems?

Keep losing ringtone and notifications settings on reboots

Nearly every time I restart or reboot the phone, including from recovery, I lose the settings I have for ringtone, default notifications, and for tones for various messaging apps and I have to reset them. This is a big annoyance . I am using a custom KK ROM, in this case NeatROM, What is weird is that when I first migrated to CyanFox at the beginning of the year, it didn't happen. Then, one day it started and continued with the other KK ROMs I used - which are NeatROM and Mokee (though it happens less on Mokee). At first, I thought it was the media scanner, so (thank you, Sale) I disabled it in NeatROM and tested that. Nope. Not the cause of the problem. I also thought it might be because the notifications and ringtones I use are stored on my external SD card (formatted for exFAT), but when I moved them all to the internal SD, the problem remained. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.
A little update. I thought I could fix the problem by moving my preferred sounds to /system/media/audio. For good measure, i converted them from mp3 to ogg format. But moving them didn't do anything. The problem persists.
Try working with default ringtones . When you say you loose ringtones do you mean it turns to default or none ? I had a problem and I used to disable media scanner via an app . When I reboot my ringtones and alarms would turn to none ( it said none or smthing close to that in the settings ) . Else it might be a bug in the rom . Factory reset and changing the rom is always a sure option .
The ROM has defaults for the ringtone and notification tone. When I lose my "customized" settings in reboots, they are replaced by the defaults. This happens on all 3 KK ROMs I've used, but not on stock or rooted JB. I've tried factory resets, dirty installs clean installs, fresh installs from stock, reformats. Nothing fixes it. I am beginning to think the phone itself is deteriorating.
I discovered that the sounds settings are preserved if i do a soft or hard reboot from within xposed installer. That's pretty weird but maybe points to a solution to the problem?
