[Q] HTC DNA Google Apps Lookup / Directory Search BUSTED - HTC Droid DNA

So I came from using a droid x running quite a few different ROMs. On the gingerbread and older ROMs I'd have to use the "Google Apps Lookup" app to do a corporate directory search on my Google apps accounts. When I would use ICS or newer ROMs it was just built into the people app. Seems to me that HTC has done a great job of busting or removing this feature from the phone. Am I crazy or can anyone else clue me in on how to get this to do the directory search and not just local/sim/skype contacts? Honestly I've google'd the hell out of this and RTFM attempting to figure it out on my own. HELP! don't want a great phone to be flawed for corporate use.
Thanks in advance for anybody's feedback.

I read about this feature in a thread about saving contacts to Google by default.

Talked with HTC
So I've gone through and checked every single one of those boxes.
It still doesn't search for directory users.
I called Verizon and they told me to contact HTC on the issue because they would be no help.
I got a hold of a rep at HTC who said he doesn't see that functionality being built into the HTC version of the contacts/people app they customized in sense 4+
He opened a ticket for me to see if there could be a future update to allow for this feature.
Keep in mind that my corporate google apps for business account has probably well over 50,000 contacts in it and I wouldn't want to sync all of those to my local accounts.
It's supposed to operate like exchange server does. It looks at the local accounts for contacts then reach out to the directory for additional users.
bummed out that this very corporate essential components not working.

Click on the arrow next to the Google one, still not there?

yup
Yup

Workaround
As a temporary work around I side loaded the gingerbread apk from the play store:
https: //play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.enterprise.lookup
I installed it on my DroidX from the play store and took the apk from it and installed it on my DNA
It ran and I can do the look up of the corporate directory searches that way for now. Yet is still really bothers me.

[Q] -1 email ??

Has anyone have this issue with the email app?
One of my accounts shows -1/0 emails.
What gives with that, when I have no emails in that account. I have totally cleaned it out of all emails but yet I get -1/0.
Is there a way to correct this.

Mine never disappears though. Its always at -1 unless I recieve emails. But after i delete them its back at -1/0. its been like that for over a week now.
Has anyone been able to figure this one out. I just cant seem to get rid of the -1 on my email. Its only in that one yahoo.com account. I have other yahoo accounts as well, but they seem to be fine. I dont want to completely wipe the phone and set everything back up again. I have the phone just the way i like it.
just deleta that one account and re-set it. that should do it

I would if i could but its the first account that was made on the phone which if you have a vibrant and try to delete it. It tells you the only way to do it is to reset the whole entire phone to delete the account. Which I think is dumb in a way that was built. Also to note to delete that account, the account may be associated with other things like apps or whatever. Which I have no clue to which ones they are associated with since just about all my email accounts are associated with many things that use multiple email accounts. So basically I guess the only way is to just wipe the whole entire phone and start new.
Email sync and notifications
I set up my hotmail on the email. And it does not sync the account properly and never gives me notifications for new email.
Even when I refresh it, it doesn't load up all my emails.
I have deleted the account and set it up again, but that didnt help either..
HELPPP please! I need email on my phone!

Skype is a very useful program to preserve us to communicate, in voice and video, with our contacts in the world, using our internet connection. In addition to this, you can also make calls and video group. However it has some limitations, unlockable by purchasing Skype credit.
This version is for mobile devices with OS Windows Mobile. This version is quite old, but it's the latest on the web, given that Skype has decided to withdraw all copies from the web and to abandon the project, at least for Windows Mobile.

Version info
Hello, could you please provide more information of this version and where it came from since development and versions have stopped by the producer of this software?
Thank you very much in advance.
Has someone tried this software?
@staurakis
Hello, the version is visible in the program settings (do not remember exactly, because now I have my HTC on hand)
The only thing I know is that programmers have stopped working on the version of Windows Mobile for unknown reasons and that this is the latest version. (but is not available from the original website ... you can only find if you look good in the internet)
@ggoogle
I personally use on my HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) and also my other friends have it installed, and no problems!

Stock email app question (or alternatives?)

I use the stock email app to check Yahoo emails via POP3. My question is: is there is any way to limit the range of days for the sync?
I hardly check my emails on my phone but I'm constantly sending emails out. My "problem" is that the stock app wants to download every email missing since the last time I synced, usually about a week's worth or so. And since it downloads from oldest to current, it can take a while.
Ideally, I'd love to be able to set the sync range to the last day or three days. I just haven't found that option with the stock app.
I've tried K-9 and another one or two that I'm forgetting (probably Enhanced), but I wasn't too crazy about them and stuck with stock. Didn't like Yahoo's email app, either.
Any suggestions?
The stock email app is indeed rather basic and kinda limited when it comes to certain stuff, so I'm not surprised at all if it can't do what you're asking.
I'm a little surprised you don't like K-9 though. Haven't used it personally (I hardly ever use any kind of email on my phone), but I have yet to see someone who was unhappy with it (or, well, at least until now... guess I just saw someone like that now, lol).
No suggestions then, since my suggestion would be K-9.

K9 is the best mail app for POP and IMAP. EnhancedEmail is the best for Exchange. I have tried and compared almost all of the email apps.
I'll give K9 another shot as I can't specifically remember what problem I had with it.
I still wish I could just give the app a date range. I simply don't need to access every email I've ever received. The stock app on Palm's OS had this feature and it was incredibly useful.
Edit: I solved the problems I originally had with K-9, namely figuring out how to create a shortcut that went directly to a specific inbox instead of having to click around to get to it.
Cheers!
Maildroid is my choice after trying K9. K9 didn't let me change ports if you have an IMAP/SMTP hybrid mail account.

I use Enhanced Email and have had no complaints. Great for all account types imo.

You might want to look at Touchdown also. I've been using the trial version and so far I've been impressed.
I ditched stock for K-9 also.
The only reason I didn't stick with K-9 was it wasn't playing well with the exchange server at work. I've not had any such problems with Touchdown. But for POP3 K-9 probably would've worked fine.
I'll give Touchdown a try tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
I use AquaMail for my Yahoo mail.

(SHARE) (INFO) Apps that Provide Video Calling Support to our Ace

Ever wondered how to make Video Calls or Apps that provide Video Calling Support to our Ace!
Note: If you're already aware of it, then just help others here to know more about it rather saying it a dumb thread etc etc
Time to get on board
I came across two Apps providing Video Calling Support to our Ace using our Primary(Back) Camera.
01) Tango App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sgiggle.production
02) Vtok App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skymobius.vtok
The part i love is that these Apps helps us not to go for another Phone or PC to do Video Calling.
As there is a saying, nothing comes up without compromise We have to compromise on one thing though that's either we can only see the other party or show ourselves to other part(these are not done as in other Phones like seeing and viewing simultaneously) as these Apps uses our Primary(Back) Camera.
Don't lose your heart though, remember atleast this is possible. Something is better than nothing
Lets learn something about these Apps Now
Starting with
Tango which has Chatting and Calling Facility uses your Mobile Number to chat and make Video Calls. Tango requires your Mobile Number for signup. Tango requires both Calling & Receiving party to use Tango which is not required in Vtok. UI in Tango is something i really love in it. Use it and feel it

Going forward to
Vtok which is completely based on your Google Account helps you to make Video Calls. Its not necessary for both the parties to use Vtok. As you're using your Google Account for signup, Vtok allows you to chat with your Gmail friends having Google Account. They can chat with you using their PC
Let me know your experience after using it and if you have any other App which helps us then feel free to share it with us here
video chat
download yahoo messenger from market. and the messenger video plugin it will give you video calling but u need a mirror .
Tango works fine on galaxy ace.
suggestion
stand in front of mirror and use skype haha
hit thanks

Dude, we need mirror when using the above mentioned apps too. Skype does not support Video Calling on Ace. Tango & Vtok supports Video Calling on Ace. Have not tested Yahoo so far.

[Q] Viber no longer works on any android phone

I hope someone here has seen this issue so they can give me some advice as viber support has been very slow and next to useless.
Basically I have a just came from a Xperia Z1 (Viber working) to a Nexus 5 and put on my defacto apps of which Viber is one of them and straight away after entering the phone number it said waiting for sms activation and a couple of seconds after it pops up with 'error' on the screen and that is all it says.
Prior to this I have had many android phones and never had an issue with activating viber.
Troubleshooting wise I have tried all of the below and nothing so far works.
1. Tried activating on wifi and 3g
2. Tried my wife's number on my nexus 5 which gets past the initial country code and phone number screen and tries to send an sms
3. Tried my number on my wife's phone and get the same lovely 'Error' popup
4. Placed my wife's sim card into my phone and activation works so proving this issue is number specific not phone specific.
The screenshot of the 'Error' is below.

Viber support seem to of gone very quiet and it looks like a Viber rep does lurk around here so bumping the thread to see if they can help me out.
Word of warning guys if any of you like myself installed the Android SDK and emulator to try and teach yourself programming then make sure Viber does not get installed if you login with your google account.
Basically this triggers their 'system' into thinking you are a spammer and they then block your number so you are unable to use Viber ever again on any device you own.
Viber support are next to useless and it looks like I will never be able to use Viber again despite doing absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever.
Viber support is blocked your GSM number
Viber support is blocked your GSM number, because of Viber spam politics, or something like this. I have the same problem with one of my GSM numbers. From Viber support answered me that they will never UNBLOCK this number (Viber politics and rules) , I already change my blocked GSM number...
