Flash firmware in bootloader and put it on your ext sdcard rename PJ75IMG.zip
Also use the one minus hboot,kernel, and recovery

I have a phone to return and would like to know how to remove Amon Ra Recovery I used the All-In-One Kit to install the recovery but i want to go back to stock and re-lock the bootloader ASAP can someone please help me I need to send this phone back. BTW what does the Stock option under kernel do would it return it back to stock recovery thanks.
flash the GB ruu and your phone will be stock but you will still have to relock the bootloader

Sorry for asking but I'm a noob at flashing but where do i get the stock RUU and how and where do i get it and flash it. Is there any links on how to do this. Would going to recovery and unzipping a file do the trick in my SD card. Not sure if i hit the spot on this but thanks for the help.

Stock Recovery
I don't think you need to run an ruu to get the stock recovery back. search and you should be able to find a download link to get the stock recovery and you can just flash that with adb/fastboot.

Once you download, copy to root of micro sdcard, and rename to PH98IMG.zip
Then boot into bootloader, and it should detect it and flash automatically. note it has to flash twice. You must say yes, It will look like it rest and restarted, but it's normal.
Don't forget to delete or rename it after your done or

If you are on a stock ROM, all you have to do to replace amon ra is to do "fastboot flash recovery [stock recovery filename].img "
Then if you want to run amon ra again, just do "fastboot boot recovery [amon ra recovery].img"
Hi guys. Finally i updated to ICS from the OTA and i reunlocked HBoot with HTC Dev. Now i'm Unlocked again which recovery shuld i Flash? And how to root now?

I had previously relocked my phone and reverted to stock cause I could not get a kernal that would not reboot my phone or cause it to heat up on a custom ics rom. I ran the new OTA and unlocked the phone via hTCdec site. I am now on 2.89 w/ hboot 1.58 s-on. I flashed the 4ext recovery successfully. I want to go s-off just cause lol. will flashing Vipers OTA give s-off or is there something else I should do?
Yes i know 4ext is the best but you can not install it because you need root and to get root you need a zip file and a recovery first. My question is which recovery and SU zip file.

All you need is the img file and flash it through fastboot from a computer. After that just flash a rooted Rom or whatever you want

Agreed. I am not currently rooted just unlocked. I flashed the recovery via fastboot. download a recovery .img and place it in the same folder where you have your unlock files for the htcdev site. in the command prompt direct it to the folder where u have fastboot and your recovery files. type,"fastboot flash recovery "yourrecovery.img" Do not use the quotations I used and replace yourrecovery with the file name of your recovery.

I know with unlocked and 4ext recovery I can do most things a rooted phone can do, but I want to be rooted just for the heck of it lol. If I flash vipers stock rooted ota deodexed zip will that give s-off. or could I just push a SU flashable img?

If you flash Vipers you will not get S-OFF. Just a rooted system

No you can't. ROMS are flashed via recovery. Tell us more about how and what you tried to flash....also what was your original firmware/rom...

I got S-off and was trying to update the firmware. I was told I could just use a firmware file without flashing the whole RUU. I did it through hboot while on Newt's One XxX with the old firmware patch. My phone is refusing to reboot into the rom. Just stays on the splash screen. I can't use Volume down + power to reboot to bootloader and I don't know what to do next
You need to get the "new firmware patch" from the link I gave you before and flash it via recovery to fix your sd card mount points, that could be causing your problem.
Can you not get into recovery from the bootloader?

It doesn't allow me to get into recovery. I can use volume down + power to reboot into bootloader only when I have a valid PH98IMG on my SD card.
I finally got my phone back to booting with a S-off, a custom hboot and the latest firmware. It took a lot battery pulls, file renaming, SD card pulls... Thanks for your help.

You need to get that ph98img off of your sd card. Stick the SD in a computer and delete it. Then go to boot loader and select recovery.

You can get the ph98img zip from the amon ra thread and flash in boot loader. Super easy.
The file system is different than a RUU. Which files can I extract and use them as PH85IMG.zip to flash with?

Can I use it as the main installation? Meaning that if I have no Rom installed, can I still install it or is it only for updates?
I am running a rooted Rez with Amon Ra Recovery which is otherwise stock ICS. I have tried three times to install the latest Global OTA. Each time the install fails after an attempt is made to install the downloaded package. The phone reboots into Amon Ra and I see the following messages.
Installing Update
Wrong Task ID 221384E: Error in /cache/fumo/OTAPkg.zip
Status 1
Installation Aborted
Anyone know what is happening? Thanks in advance for the help.

Found out hard way: you can't just be on the last official RUU (3.14.605.12) to get the new update from Verizon.
ALSO dammit you have to have previously taken the small February update to 3.14.605.13. The update's name mentions
605.13 in its title. The problem is that you can't get that little update anymore!!!!
Those of us with only 605.12 may have to wait until the next RUU is issued. Gripes me.
You realise someone posted the full ruu zip in this thread. You don't have to get it from software update thing

In February, Flyhalf205 uploaded the 605.13 OTA.zip in another thread.
The one I could not find anywhere.
You take that little one, rename it update.zip, and flash in hboot.
Do a factory reset and it'll boot up.
Then you can get the current OTA from Verizon.

Download the PH98IMG.zip in the Attachment and put it on your SD Card
1. Flash the above file in Hboot and delete it after done flashing
2. Put the new update.zip on to your SD card.
3. Reboot into Bootloader and choose Recovery
4. It will flash the new update.
5. Download the new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip from HERE ,rename it to PH98IMG.zip and flash it in Hboot to get the latest Hboot, Radio, ......
6. Done

You can only use the official update with your bootloader locked and a non modified stock rom or you need to wait for a new RUU to come out.

-or- s-off if s-off and on the latest ota it doesn't matter if you are locked or unlocked. You will need to flash a custom recovery and su when the ruu is done but the update will complete. You can also downgrade the bootloader (hboot) back to a modified one such as vinyl freaks if and only if s-off.

You will need to relock the bootloader then run the 605.12 RUU and let that boot up and not modify anything then you will get the 605.13 update first and then the latest after that, that is how I got the update and had no problems at all.
