I have an HTC Amaze.
It boots fine although I see no logo or anything until I have to press the power button to turn screen off and back on to see lockscreen.
Tried the AIO kit to unlock bootloader and all that jazz. I get nowhere, says everything is done and then nothing is different except on the first
reboot it shows a green circle with arrows then moves to a red traingle with an exclamation point in the middle.
I have tried to put the RUU on the EXTERNAL SD and boot into HBOOT. Guess what, HBOOT is NOT there somehow. I can hold the volume down button and the power button down for the whole Obama administration and still get no HBOOT, not sound, boot, or vibtration, I can press these buttons in any combination known to man and still get no HBOOT. The AIO kit cannot boot me into HBOOT either.
I have tried the unbrick project instructions using Linux and my phone is not recognizeable apparently becuase it is not bricked per say.
All I want is to unlock this bootloader and load a custom ROM to improve some things like EXTREME lag and horrible battery life.
I have completed the AIO kit STEP BY STEP, HTC DEV UNLOCK ID and ALL....... Does anyone have any solid firsthand experience with these issues? Is my screen simply not working? If that is the case can you let me know which button combinations are required to have this RUU read and loaded in HBOOT if it is simply from me not being able to see the HBOOT screen.
Wrong section this should be in Q/A

Pull the battery out for 10 seconds replace and try again? It wont go back to the bootloader if you dont do that first.

The screen goes black. I am not sure if this is a screen issue or what?

Do a 60-sec battery pull.
Then WITHOUT pushing ANY buttons (incl soft-keys/touching the screen), put it back together & charge it. Overnight. With an AC-plug adapter.

I have completed this as well, many times at this point. I REALLY appreciate everyones help and now you are starting to see why I am so frustrated.
Hook it up to the computer and try installing hboot using adb
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
what he said! honestly bypass any program and do adb commands to see.
I'm a electronics tech. and I've noticed a problem like that before. one of which was water damaged which was shorting out 2 pins on the lcd connector.
The other would only enter bootloader when using adb only

So your phone is 100% charged?
Because there is an issue with the Amaze that causes the exact black-screen behavior you have, caused by a dead battery getting stuck in a deadlock-condition between the power-on routine & the charging routine.
Yes 100%. How do I install hboot using adb? Any step by step process I can follow? Thank you.

Jvamps, the water damage sounds like a possibility. It's like everything is perfect but I just can't see hboot. When I boot normally I don't see anything until I notice the soft key bleedthrough then I press the power key to turn off screen and press it again and voila the lock screen. I don't see the boot screen at all.

you can actually plug in a mouse into your phone, from what i understand. if you have the right adaptor. But it doesnt matter too much anyways, take your phone in and the sprint team can fix it for you, they will most likely flash the RUU if you are honest with them, or give you a new phone. I have never had problems with my store so far, if a phone is physicaly broken, as in the battery wont charge, the buttons dont work, the screen is broke, they give me a new phone or new battery, what ever is needed. and they tell me
your phone is rooted, so we couldnt run our normal diagnostics on it, but if you have any other problems let us know.
that is the BIGGEST reason i stay with sprint. kick ass customer support.
I was running mlk's ics release on my evo 3d. I had hboot 1.40 and s-off. I had no problems flashing the rom and I was using it with no problems.I have been using it since it was released. No issues. Yesterday, I just went to reboot the system through the advance power menu. The phone went dead immediately, mind you my phone is fully charged. I tried going into recovery using the usual vol down + power, phone doesnt respond. I plug in the usb cable and tried it again, no luck. So I tried pressing all the buttons (power, vol up, vol down and camera button) the phone flashes the htc screen then shuts off. That is the only response I get. When I use adb devices it lists this:
"HT16FHX07713 recovery"
I can get the phone to do the same thing as mentioned above when i do "adb reboot recovery", it just flashes the htc screen for less than a second then goes off while still showing that it is charging.
Can anyone shed some light on what I can do to fix this? If you need any info, let me know and I'll try to provide what I can. Thanks
I see that you tried adb reboot recovery but have you tried adb reboot bootloader?
Thanks, that was the only thing I didnt try. Tried it just now and the bootloader just loaded up. What should I do now? I'm kind of rusty and that its been awhile since I flashed/rooted an android phone.

Hey everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.
So randomly yesterday my phone just turned blank and it started vibrating every 1 minute almost like its trying to boot up but the screen stays black. Its been on the charger and I am not getting any lights to pop up. I tried the 20second 30second and various other seconds of holding the power button but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has any other solutions to this problem.
No insurance and the screen is cracked so they will not attempt a repair. They wont even touch the phone.
Im S-OFf with the old hboot and running CM10 from Kushdeck
The computer does not see the device either.
Thank you for your time.
I would reflash the ROM, and when you do be sure to clear Google Wallet settings, it sounds to me like you have a bad flash. What ROM are you using? I would go away from cm10 were I you, that ROM requires a different radio, that ROM is touchy, try a sense 4.0 Mean Rom for example, that will do it.

Hi Cables. Thanks for replying.
I have tried the technique you have explained and I am getting nothing.
You could let the battery die, place it on the charger and wait about 5 minutes (led should be blinking when you first plug it in) then try to boot into boot loader

Nothing, if the phone becomes completely unresponsive then you have a brick. Sorry
Just something else to try, but pullout your sdcard and try the power button on volume down for as long as you can hold them. If you sdcard is corrupted it could prevent you from booting.

Bump... anyone get this issue fixed? I have an evolte that did the same thing. I had my phone give me a black screen. It would still sound for incoming calls and the buttons would light up, but no screen.

My phone did the same thing today. I can't figure out if it's a software problem or a hardware problem. Anyone else know what could be causing it to randomly do a short vibrate about every minute and the screen will not turn on.
anyone find a solution for this i have the same problem but my screen is grey, ive tried restarting it like a million times it turns of but as soon as it turns back on it goes to grey screen
power button is stuck
just helped someone with the same symptoms on SG3
Has anyone found a fix for this...? My phone just started doing this very thing, I was playing SNESDroid and the last couple of the days the screen starting wiggin out, a couple of times it just froze and i had to do a hard reboot, this last time yesturday it froze I did a hard reset and it would not turn back on and all my symptoms are the same as the original poster. Only thing I havn't tried is letting the battery die, I just don't know when I would know that it's dead? Anyway any help would be appreciated!
I have two evos and the other got stuck at the HTC boot screen where it says quietly brilliant. I didn't notice it was stuck since I had walked away and it overheated severely. I held the power to turn it off but from that point on I couldn't turn it on at all.
Any suggestions? Is it a lost cause?

Try plugging it in and letting it sit a while, let it cool down first, maybe the battery needs to recover, heat can damage the battery

what om4 said, it might just have been a heat issue...the same thing happens if your computer over heats, it will reboot/shutdown on its own to cool itself down
Thanks for your responses guys.... Unfortunately it still won't turn on, the charging light won't come on either after trying different chargers.

Yeah, if you plug in your phone to a computer (Linux is a bit better for this) do you get a new device discovery in Windows? Do you have some COM devices or Modems in your Device Manager in Windows?
You might be in the emergency download mode. There can be hope.
