Installing RR - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying to install Resurruction Rom and here is my present status
Build - XXLQ6
ROM - SiyahKernel S2-v6.0beta4
The phone is presently rooted and is on ICS.
My next question (I have read the OP and here is what it has)
Reboot into recovery (Turn off your phone then press and hold the keys: Volume Up + Power + Home)
Wipe Data / Factory Reset
Install the Main ROM file -- Wat does this mean ?? Is it "Apply update from SD Card ??
In AROMA installer select "Custom Installation" -- Is this after the reboot ??
Choose depending of your taste
When AROMA installer finish untick the "Reboot Now" option
When you're back on the recovery go to Advanced
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Fix Permissions
Wipe Cache Partition
Reboot
When you get the step for add your Google Account, if you don't have a WiFi enabled or you can' add it, skip it
When you boot into the system, it's probably that you don't have data enabled (3g, H+) just reboot the phone
When you boot again into the system, the data will be enabled and you can do the configuration of Google Account (if you don't do this step before)
This is the moment for install all the extras like themes, mods, fixes, kernels, etc.
¡Enjoy!
Please help me with those 2 steps people..

1) It means that you have to install the zip-file you've downloaded. So, just the rom-file. In Recovery, just go to 'Install zip from sd-card'.
2) No. When you flash the rom, Aroma will be started automatically from CWM (you'll see it when you try it).
So, boot into Recovery, make a Nandroid backup, do a full wipe, Install zip from sd-card (the rom-file), Aroma will be started, press Custom Installation, don't reboot afterwards but follow the steps that are written in the RR-thread.

Lol, how did you expect to enter recovery if you didn't flash it?
You need to flash the recovery first
work on getting the recovery flashed before installing custom ROMS. You can opt to choose Clockwork (ROM manager) through market or Amonra.. either ways would be fine.
Then go with the usual flashing after your done with the recovery.
Simplest thing is just go to market.
Search for Rom manager. after install click on it.
Then when it opens press the 1st from the top and you have ClockworkMod.
For flashing the ROM. Find the rom in file explorer or any file manager and click on it, it will prompt for rom manager. click rom manager and wipe dalvik cache and Wipe Data and cache..
No worries ,just install Rom-Manager -> flash clockwork mod recovery.
Then it will notify succesfully flashed clockwork mod recovery..
Try three buttons combo..
It will work .
hoping it will solve your problems.

Yes, IMO ROM manager is the easiest to install...a bit of a user friendly

screwed up installing rom plz help. need phone

I rooted my phone months back and last week installed Olympus triten Rom with beats ultimatly decided I didn't like it and tried to install infectedrom eternity 3.5.
I did a factory reset erased as card then downloaded the Rom and installed via recovery. But whenever. I start my phone I get the beats bootbscree. From Olympus. Also tried to install the infected theme for infectedrom via recovery and it just bricks.the phone.
Here's how to fix it:
I'll assume you are using TWRP recovery. If you are using clockworkmod, it will be similar. If you use ROM Manager, you have clockworkmod. If you don't know/didn't install one, you have TWRP.
1. Turn phone completely off
2. remove battery and put it back in
3. Boot into bootloader - Hold volume down and power until it boots into a menu
It might say no PG86IMG found. Ignore that.
4. Use volume down to navigate to the RECOVERY option
5. Press power to select it when it is highlighted
The recovery will load. Once you see a black menu, continue.
Notes for when you are in recovery: Use volume down+up to navigate and press power to select options.
6. Again, use volume down or volume up to navigate to the wipe menu
7. Select 'Wipe Everything'
8. Once it's done wiping, leave the wipe menu if you are still in it.
9. Go to Install Zip
10. Select infectedROM
11. Select 'Flash Zips Now'
12. Zip will flash
13. Reboot after flash
If you are using clockworkmod...
After getting into recovery:
Notes for when you are in recovery: Use volume down+up to navigate and press power to select options.
1. Wipe everything
2. select install zip
3. select infected ROM zip
4. Select yes to confirm
5. Zip will flash
6. After flash, reboot
Notes for when flashing a new rom:
-You don't need to erase SD card. In fact, it's recommended you don't.
-Instead of factory resetting, wipe through the recovery using the steps above. It is more effective.
-If the problem still isn't fixed, download infectedrom again and try flashing it.

Where to start.. In CWM after save villain on SD, just flash update.zip?
Coming from Another ROM
Ensure CWM recovery is available, do a CWM/nandroid backup and titanium backup, and put the zip onto the root of the internal SD.
Enter CWM, carry out a factory reset, and cache wipe, and flash the ROM via "Install zip from SD" option.
Reboot the phone into VillainROM, bearing in mind the first boot may take some time on the boot animation.

1. download and copy the villian zip file to your sd card after making a back up of your data.
2. go into cwm- boot into recovery, clean cache. Stay in recovery mode.
3. go advanced and clean dalvik cache. Stay in recovery mode
4 select install zip file.
5. choose zip from sd card, scroll down to the zip file you have download.
6. select and agree to install.
7. let it install, scroll back up to reboot system.
8. rom will install it may take up to 5 minutes for the first install.
You can scrool up down in recovery mode by using the volume keys. power button or homke button selects depending on what version of cwm you have.
back button returns you back on screen.

[Q] Newbie question about flashing Roms

Hi...
I am from Portugal and i have my Optimus One in 2.3.3 stock, already rooted.
I am thinking in try the GTR v3x and some CM. (These roms are made for the new baseband?)
I want to someone correct me if these are not the right way of doing the process of flashing...
have a rooted device
instal rom manager
instal clockworkmod via rom manager.
copy .rar to the sd (root?)
turn off
Home + Vol Down + Power
wipe what the developer say and the flash it.
Also, i want to know if the process of flashing unlock the phone (SIM Locked)?
Sorry for opening the threat and thanks in advance
Hi,
Your process is correct, however I would do it a bit differently to be honest.
Yes, I would install clockwork mod through ROM Manager. And boot it up using home + vol dwn + power.
To navigate, use the menu button to move down, and home button to move up in CWM. The back button is for back and search button for select.
To prepare installing a rom, I would do these in order:
Code:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Format /system/ by going into 'mounts and storage'
Wipe Dalvik Cache and Battery stats under 'Advanced'
Also, the rom should be a zip file, not a rar. I'm sure you meant zip in your post.
To flash the rom after wiping those stuff above^, just select 'Install zip from sd' from the main menu, and select the first option to select the zip file from your sd, and then find your rom.zip file and flash.
Then you're done. You can flash kernels and other stuff through this method too, just don't erase anything unless you're installing a new rom, as there's no need to.
Also make sure you have the right baseband for the rom

(1) What phone model do you have?
(2) When you flash roms you do not need to root your phone! roms come already rooted you only root if you are going to stay on stock rom and install root apps.
(3) Don't use apps to install roms use recovery PhilZ,Cwm,Twrp
Dont know much about Twrp but in other recoveries it should say install zip not update zip (Twp might be different)
1. I have I9300
2. Ok.
3. I use TWRP application to enter into recovery mode. When I chose reboot/recovery from app menu then my phone is rebooting and entering into recovery mode.
There is only "update" option in recovery menu, other options is:
-reboot system now
-apply update from ADB
-apply update from external card
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partiotion
-apply update from cache
Thats the stock recovery.
Cwm, twrp, philz recovery are not apps. They are recoveries you must flash that will substitute the stock recovery.
Look into the stickies, philz touch recovery post, etc to see how to flash the recovery you want.

Ok please read the stickies/guides about flashing roms you are not doing it right you need to do a full wipe including system but please read up on how to do this or you will be left without a rom/system on your phone. (And always backup your old rom and efs very very important!! )
