Hi there I am new here to XDA, and I was wondering which phone I should get, the phone I will be upgrading from is a Pantech Laser and my upgrade is in Feb. 2013. I can spend $199 without tax on a phone and I will get the 3gb data plan from AT&T. My choices are the HTC One X+ and the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Here are the features I consider most important.
Gaming: I am a huge gamer, I love Gameloft and I know that the HOX+ is having problems with GL, and this is huge con for me. I love/addicted to NFL Pro on my iPod, and thats where the SGS3 wins.
Storage: I like the 64GB on the HOX+ and the fact that it has no MicroSD (Meaning less for me to spend initially) but I also know that eventually I might buy a bigger card later if I get the SGS3, so $199 for 64ish gb or $259 for 80ish gb? I also know that 64gb is enough for me since (Before it got stolen) I had a 64gb iPod Touch.
Music: I love music, and I actually like the beats audio feature, I am a bass head, and most of my music is in Google Play. I have around 20ish gb of music saved and I wouldn't mind having all of it.
Battery: I really do not care, as long as it lasts six hours a day, I will be good.
Brand Recognition: I currently have the HP Pavilion DM4 Beats edition, and I like having a phone that matches
Build quality/looks: I fell in love with the HOX+ the first time I saw it, it looks very adult and I am going to college soon, so having a phone that looks like a phone will be a plus. HOX+
Lastly, I will not root this device, I need my warranty and I am slightly afraid of "bricking" it.
I don't honestly know which one to choose. The biggest factor for me is gaming, I can sit at the charger for 30+ minutes and game, that is what I want. I am addicted to NFL Pro which is a Gameloft game and I NEED to play it, so if the HOX+ is good for gaming I will definitely buy it. I will also play non THD games very frequently (Samurai 2 is the only THD game I like).
I am also dead set on Android for widgets, apps, and everything else Google
Thank you for reading
Go for the One X+ it has great battery while playing any game. Games are super smooth and clear. More storage than 64gb? That's crazy.

Rooting alone won't void your warranty, I believe...let alone brick your device

Well, probably unlocking bootloader does void! And in our case yes, we have to unlock to achieve root, right?!

~4 PM: Played Asphalt 7 for 20 minutes. Frame rates are mostly in the high teens, a lot of lag and brief hangs especially when opponents are nearby.
~6 PM: Football Pro 2013 for 20 minutes. Playable with occasional stutter.
I'm not sure how losing 20% of your battery capacity in less than 30 minutes is considered great, but there's phones that handle gaming much better than the One X+ in terms of performance and battery life. This is with the screen brightness locked at 60%.

Okay, so I should kinda avoid Gameloft games, but are other games good? And what do you mean by high teens (18-20 FPS?) Also, I thought it said that you cannot download GL games from google play, because it will say that it is incompatible. is that true?

You should be able to download Gameloft games fine, my One X+ is running the stock firmware with the exception of being rooted. The problem with the One X+ in the U.S. market is that it's overshadowed by the original One X, which runs the Snapdragon S4 processor and actually performs better, generates less heat and even has better battery life even though it has a smaller battery.
HTC really dropped the ball here. They should have offered an overclocked dual core S4 for a proper One X+. It's sad to see my younger brother's RAZR HD play practically any game on the Market fluidly while the One X+ struggles with your average run-of-the-mill Gameloft game. I'm trying to see where AOSP development goes for the AT&T version, but I have a feeling I will ultimately be returning this beautiful looking device for the regular One X. The problem with the Tegra 3 platform is that unless the game is optimized specifically for it, nine times out of ten it will get outperformed by any other high end smartphone made in the last six months. I have some serious performance issues playing my Kairosoft games as well, and it's not even 3D.
Judging from what you want I would go for the s3. I love my one x+ but many features that are on the the phone are outdone by the s3. If your patient though check out ces next week and see what happens. Also could I suggest possibly the nexus 4 performance wise its incredible its only two set backs are storage and 4G lTE but if you are willing to stretch you budget a bit I would recommend it. But you can't go wrong with any of these devices its a great time to buy .

So, I guess I should get the HOX+ and then play around with it for a week, and if I don't like it, then I should get the SGS3, And speaking of lagg, I am very familair with it because on my JB iPod Touch, I was constastly only had 91mb of ram free and it was very laggy, so I am kinda used to it and it doesn't bother me as much. My main question was if it was able to play, and as for waiting, I will have to because my upgrade isn't until febuary, so I am forced too.
But thanks very much
In that case you are very lucky! I hope you end up with something you like

Is it extremely hard to unlock the bootloader? If there is a youtube video, could you either post it, or give me a link? I would greatly appreciate it. So heres my gist. HOX+ has better features except for RAM. The processor in the HOX+ is really advanced and it is locked with the GPU so apps run at a lower setting, I could offset this by being rooted and installing a ROM along with the gaming boost.
Are there any negatives with rooting?
Or, go with the SGS3 and avoid rooting and buy a bigger card?

I love the rezound it is an awesome phone. If you like androids you will love it. My wife just switched to a rezound from an iphone 4 and she loves it. I upgraded from an evo 3d and it is a way better phone.
I've been with android since the very beginning with the G1 and the REZOUND is without a doubt the best phone I have ever owned. Not only is it the most powerful phone currently on the market it but it has great battery life that can easily get me through a full day of medium usage. The phone is even better now that HTC has unlocked the bootloader and a ton of ROMS have been released by developers. Plus, an early ICS build has been released which could lead to a stable ICS release in the coming weeks so overall I couldn't be any happier with this phone!
Yes, best there is right now. I switched from android to the iphone and now "I'm back in the saddle again."
Thanks for the feed back. I'm still researching this phone but I am stoked about getting an Android phone again. I was a luanch customer on the EVO 4G and then switched to Verizon on the Thunderbolt. I got a fancey stereo for my car and of course it was iPhone ready so to get all the goodies my new stereo would do I switch to an IPhone. I have decided the iPhone is just not worth having for my car stereo so back to Android I go.
I have a Nook Color and a HP Touchpro (running android of course) so yea...Im and Android junky and a flashaholic!!!

don't hesitate if you don't have to, it's the best phone on VZW right now, imho
No, you're not making a mistake. Yes, the Rezound is the right choice!
The screen is gorgeous. There's a bit of an issue with color/tint in taking pics but the clarity and sharpness is amazing. Text is clear and crisp.
The dev section is going crazy since HTC unlocked it and now there's an ICS leak that people are working on.
Personally I like Sense a lot but there are ROMs without it available.
4g.
16gb internal and 16gb external removable sd card which can be upgraded to a 64gb card and confirmed working. That's an 80gb phone!
Wirefly currently has this phone at $99.99 for new contract or additional line.
I love it. If you like Android I'm sure you will too.
from the OG droid to a dx to the rezound it is by FAR the best phone I've owned. I've also had a chance to use/test drive a gnex and razr and i can honestly say that i don't have ONE bit of regret getting the rezound over those two. In after thought it was really a no brainer actually.

I asked this same question when I got rid of my DX2. I have never been happier with a phone ever. I love this thing more than I loved my OG Droid, and I nearly cried when I got rid of that. This phone is beyond amazing, and with all the new work on ICS that's coming up, you're jumping in at the perfect time.
another positive review
I too came from a x2, and was also an OG early adopter.
This phone kicks ass! The screen is unbelievable, the dev possibilities are endless, the beats makes a BIG difference on the audio! I was just getting into modding my x2...and once I (finally) learn my way around this one, the sky's the limit!
RUN , don't walk, to Verizon and sign on the dotted line! Lol
If price is an object, then yes, the Rezound is great for the price.
If price is not of concern, I don't see why you would not go with the Galaxy Nexus.
I don't think the Rezound is bad, but turning down consistent updating from Google, more after market customization and less difficulty rooting or doing any custom ROM, the galaxy nexus is Verizon's Best Phone, bar none.
That being said, go with what you like the best. Try them out, and go with what you like the most.

Because the galaxy nexus has the worst antenna issues I have ever experienced. Screen is pentile amoled that gives it a nasty blue tint. People have been reporting burn in on the screen. Need I go on?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
It's a great phone with a few quirks:
Many are plagued with overheating issues, my first one was but my second works fine.
The design of the screen allows the LEDs to shine up from the bottom and annoys some but I don't notice it often unless I'm watching video in the dark. This can be solved by installing screen filter and turning off the LEDs.
Stock battery sucks if you're a heavy user and on stock ROM or kernel. Development is just getting going and it's getting better.
Color balance of camera is off, most of the time you need to keep it on incandescent to get accurate pictures.
All the above are quirks and you can get over however the main problem is the audio hissing/whining/feedback when headphones are plugged in. Ironic that a beats phone has music issues lol.
Speaking of beats its a gimmick and I find equalizer (the app) does a much better job for a variety of music.
Pros are the following:
Amazing screen and full HD videos on it look amazing. High ppi ftw! Plus it is a full rgb display and not pentile like the razr.
Sense integration, love it or hate it. I don't love it but I really like it and because the hardware is so good it isn't laggy at all and love the contact and widgets.
While not the thinnest phone it feels really great in the hand. Ergonomically speaking much nicer to hold and pocket than the razr for comparison.
ISC should be coming soon as rezound is part of first release update. I think sometime in February.
Lock screen shortcuts (because of sense 3.5) are really handy
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Stop the lies in here about the Nexus......the Rezound is a nice phone.....that's it. It is NOT a superior device. Its the same old phone HTC has been selling for years with a dual core and over packed PPI. The most bloated UI of any phone and I read a earlier post about the "most powerful handset on the market"..????....seriously? Where are these specs at? This is terribly misleading information that is OPINION. This is one of many DECENT phones on the market.

EVO Pros:
Dedicated Camera Button
Kickstand
Available May 18th (Sad, sad, sad.)
SGS3 Pros:
+100mAH size battery
Removable battery
Tossup:
Screen (SuperIPSLCD2 vs Pentile Super AMOLED)
Screen Size (4.7 vs 4.8)
Sense vs Stockwiz
Camera (Better lowlight photos vs newer sensor model)
GPU/Processor (100% same on US variants)
Design (Most would say the EVO is better designed)
No stated release date for Sprint's SGS3 variant.
SGS3 Pros:
S-off
There's no reason to believe the EVO 4G LTE won't get S-off eventually though, I hope.

He's been trolling around all HTC phones' forums telling people how much "better" the Samsuck Plasticky s3 is. Pathetic.
To the OP: Wait till the S3 comes out to the US, go to the store and try them both. There's no point asking other people's opinions. Doesnt matte which one you pick it will be able to

It doesn't work at all with odin. You have to have a windows PC or windows running on your mac. I had a problem with a GNEX and had to find a windows pc (one I had buried in storage that barely works) in order to fix that phone. Real pay.
Honestly using a mac for fastboot commands is real easy, but and .exe root, program (like odin), etc will not work on a mac.
That being said...here is what I base my opinion on. I have owed the following phones in the following order. OG Evo-> Evo 3d (disappointment) -> epic 4g touch (cool phone, horrible radios, etc) -> iphone 4s (7 months...great phone honestly, but iOS really got on my nerves) -> GNEX (great stock experience...but the screen and horrible battery life resulted in me re-selling it two weeks later) -> Evo LTE
The epic 4g touch was fast...and I gave it to my fiancee because it she loved the screen, and I got the iphone 4s. Well, the epic always gave us radio/cell signal problems. Sprint even credited my account $50 for it once and promised a fix. That fix never came. About a month back my fiancee was in a bad accident and could not call out to 911 due to no signal bug in the phone. I was pissed...and sprint gave her an upgrade, free of charge and a year and a half early, as a result. She is getting the Evo Lte as well...as soon as wirefly gets it to here. The GS3 may not have this problem...but it is a samsung and they often do, but I am not trying to bash it. I know my fiancee refuses to own a samsung now. I would never go that far....
But the Evo 4g LTE is hands down the best phone I have EVER owned. Better than the epic 4g touch, and it blows away the iphone 4s (which was better than the epic tough in my opinion). The screen is amazing, the radio (signal and 3g speeds) are great. The camera is fantastic (I did my own indepth experiment with the iphone 4s and evo lte..and the evo lte beat the iphone in every category including the camera). The battery life best my iphone 4s, and is what android has need for a long time. This phone has a few minor software bugs, but these will no doubt be fixed. Plus, if you are into roms, etc...this phone will not fail you. Some of the best devs I have ever seen are migrating here...plus the evo community is moving this way. The evo community is a shining example of what you want in a developer community for a phone. What is even better is this...you don't even need to root this phone unless you want to. It is the complete package out of the box.
I made the mistake of buying the galaxy nexus off ebay...and the screen and even more so the battery life made it unsuitable for my needs. Therefore I sold it (recouping the money) and sold the iphone 4s (shipped it today)...and still payed about full upgrade cost for this phone (got it off ebay for 550). I am not one to spend my money like that...I am rather tight (ask my fiancee)...but this was well work the cost. Is the Evo LTE $200 better than the iphone 4s? If you want a simple, iconic phone...then no. But the ability's of android combined with the screen size and quality alone made the Evo LTE worth the cost and more.
I say go get this phone. If you wait for the GS3...it will be great too...but no better than this phone. Plus, there is always something better around the corner. If there is a big advantage IOS has over android, it is the yearly refresh. Eliminates buyer remorse, etc.

Any Samsung phone. They have an interface for Odin, which is really the bootloader, but it's a program you run on a Windows box. There is no actual bootloader on a Samsung smartphone, just the interface for Odin.

Well Mobile Odin took out the need for a computer almost completely. Only time I actually needed to use a pc was to initially root & to unroot/return to stock before I sold back to BB.

this. i had mobile odin for my epic 4g touch and you no longer have to be homebound! you can take off with your buds or go to work and odin a new rom/radio/recovery with easeee. its pretty slick
I didn't see one mention of Heimdall. Which is for Mac and Linux users.

I beat a guy on stock Optimus 2x with lots of crap today with cm9.1 on mine. That's fair play ( I think ) as that thing has twice our processing power. Let's see if I can beat any other dual core...
P.S. Believe it or not, I've never lost to any single core device. Ever.
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium
If I may ask. When you people say I beat that and that device. How did you actually beat it, in what way?
Just general responsiveness. Lags in games ( or should I say the lack of it?) I never do benchmarks as I think they are useless to test the phone as a whole. They just test raw processing power.
And against people who want to go specs wise, I just say. No thanks.

Actually you picked model which is raw power but bad at being fluid.
Launcher which is used on Optimus 2X is badly made, and it lags by default At least it was on GB, don't know how it's on ICS(if O2X even got ICS)
Kinda same story as launcher on Sony ICS, it is ****, at least in builds before .587, but even in 587 it's not as good as on GB.
Also, you can't compare 2 phones, one on stock, other on custom rom with performance modifications.
Another thing, O2X is on tegra2 SoC, its kinda hard to believe that games were more fast on Neo. as tegra eats games for breakfast but ok if you say so
Sorry, don't want to be downer but put both phones on stock and then compare them.
Also Pandemic told that his phone beat Galaxy Note. I guess he forgot that note have "a bit" larger screen with "a bit" larger resolution. You can't compare car's and trucks.
On big screen and big resolution add that note maybe had some more apps on it.. and nothing strange that he beat him on scrolling and loading pages. Put that kind of screen on Neo and watch him breathing like dying..
For example, 1GHz with 3.5"screen and 1GHz_dual core with 4"screen, nothing strange if you see that both phones have similar result in some graphic tests
Another thing, some phones are just badly made, like htc sensation, it has good spec's but it's badly at usage, don't know how is in benchmarks(actually if I remember correct, it was also pretty bad in tests), but usage is bad.
We all went a bit off topic here, maybe slicing some posts into another thread would be ok..

General chat thread gone off-topic. We have just gone full meta.
I don't mind a new thread though.
The last few weeks I was seriously considering buying a new phone in about 3 months, but I just realized that this phone isn't too bad on Jelly Bean. Every normal app works fine (except for the crappy built Google Maps). Gaming was never smooth, just puzzle games is enough.
Actually this phone is still better than many new midrange phone.
For example take the HTC One V. Same CPU, lower ppi screen, same android version (actually lower (4.0.3 vs 4.0.4), camera is far worse, only build quality (alu-unibody) is better. This phone is €250 currently. I paid less than €350 for my neo. If I take a look at the pricewatch, the Neo was €250 exactly a year ago. Conclusion: the phone would still be good value for money. I'm pretty sure our camera beats the crappy shooter on the €600 HTC One X+.
Pricewatch
I've also realized I don't have an alternative to choose from. Name a phone with 4" or smaller screen with at least 250 ppi, fast cpu, good camera and expandable storage.
I agree @Madfysh,
But you see, I know people in school etc. who keep giving me s**t about how their phone is better than mine. And after tons of ignoring it, knowing it's no use trying to compare phones, you just have to tell them to STFU. That's when, I take part in these "competitions." And knowing its unfair, I happily give them "in your face b**ch" with custom ROMS.

this is wrong mate, inches of the screen really doesn't matter at all when it comes to performance. What matters is resolution. If 4" screen have a higher resolution and if the same processor and ram then 3.5" one will perform better than 4"

Agree, comparing 2011 xperia mid range(Neo,V,Ray) to today midrange devices there are some downsides with each mid range devices. If I want to upgrade from my Neo to a decent midrange device then in xperia range only thing that comes to my mind is Xperia P but then the huge no comes with 16GB memory :/ This is just an one example.
Anyway on topic well my neo does everything I need it to do and just love the blue gradient color so far only downside I see with neo is 512mb ram.

AT&T has two phones (maybe three) I am interested in. One of them is the Optimus G.
In reviews on Cnet it mentioned the not-so-great camera and short battery life.
My Infuse 4G doesn't last more than 7 hours of mostly audio playback (30-35%) when it was new. I am going to keep this phone now that its unlocked (got the code from AT&T) and my friend is using my original G1, which is also unlocked.
Has the battery life improved with any updates and if not what is your preferred battery app?
Also has the camera improved with updates or is there a rom with improvements?
I do plan on doing some video and having another HD camera will give me lots of options.
I wanted a Note, but I can't afford to pay more than $100 for a phone and have it threaten my other activities.
Thanks

Battery life is great with jelly bean, easily lasts me 12-16hrs on a full charge, camera is great too.
Trust me for the price it can't be beat.
Quad core, 2gb ram, and it's a high quality made device, it's solid, using glass and other materials, i got rid of my note 2 and went to this, I'm beyond impressed. Do the price ab the bang for your buck you get, it can't be beat

What other phone are you considering?
I'm sure you can, hell I got my note 2 back in early March for 199 and they had the og for 49 then.
So you should have no issues, check amazon wireless, best buy and others, you might be able to get it for less then 50,
About reviews, also remember these phones launched with ics, which is also why I didn't get it from att and opted for the note 2, ics at launch was a big let down ab one of the reasons people have a sour opinion about LG, i did as well, along with there failure to update devices and support then I almost passed on this optimus g, but paid 160 on Craigslist for it and couldn't pass it up, especially once I found out the jelly bean update was available
When it launched I was with sprint ab played with it in store ab thought, wow this is a really fast device

The best camera I've ever owned was the s3, the lg takes some great pictures but it takes some horrible pictures also. The s2 had a great camera also. Im assuming the s4 has a better one. The battery life on the phone is great...... But for how long. Maybe after a year of use it will get ruined and you won't be able to replace it. The S4 would be my pick since it looks like you keep your phones for a while. I got this phone because i replace my phones every 6 months .... Great phone but not sure it will last you 2 year with great battery

I'd pass on the s4, besides he says he can't spend more than 100 on a phone, so that removes it from the availability list.
Hearing lots of issues with the s4 ,over heating, sluggishness, etc.
I'd wait until the kinks were worked out.
And trust me after handling the Optimus g, my note 2 feels cheap, it creeks, the plastic is cheap, the Optimus g is very well made and solid.

Lgog is awesome. Only things I do not like are it's not durable, and the camera takes garbage photos in low light. It's fine in direct sunlight, not so much anywhere else.

Thanks foe the input. Radio Shack has the G for $49, I will handle the phone and see how it feels. The other phones are.
Atrix for use with the laptop dock when I travel and don't need the power of my quad core laptop.
Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC Windows 8x
Main reason for the Windows phones is for the Home Server app. I would love to be able to access the files and upload to my server, I use Windows Home Server 2011.
I like the G because its a powerful phone and the screen is bigger. I don't mind reading on my Infuse and I like the Note(s) because they are a nice compromise over a tablet.
The G is not on the bleeding edge and somewhat disappointing reviews have lead to discount pricing. I got the Infuse for $60 @ Best Buy in mid 2010.
I keep the hardware because it can still be used and its more functional a regular point-n-shoot camera. I plan on goinh lots of video and selling my unused stuff on CL, Ebay and Amazon with the apps available.
I am keeping the price down because I like to travel and don't wanna work any harder than I do. No need to be on the bleeding edge for most things.
Thanks

I have dropped my Infuse only once and it chipped top left edge of the case.
Screen has not one scratch on it.
I tend not to drop my electronics, so durability is not that much of a concern. I also take pictures in the day 98% of the time or with good indoor lighting.
Then hunt for LGOG on sale for $50 on upgrade or so.
Battery:
Seems excellent to me. I have been using it to play my stored music on average from 8-8:30AM until around 6:00 PM, taking several calls throughout the day (average 3-4) and some light internet exploring and I'll see the battery meter running around 65-70% at at the end of my day. It might go down to maybe 60-65% if I run Pandora for about an hour in between (which is usually during my lunch break when I need my dose of AC/DC-like music).
Camera:
Don't really use it much but I do believe that it has improved since I upgraded to JB. I'll need to play around with it a bit more but there is an improvement over when the phone was ICS. Unless you are a really avid photo taker (in which case you'll want a dedicated camera) it will get the job done for those candidly unexpected shots. After all, it's a phone with a camera built into it... not the other way around. My test was doing some before and after shots on my vehicle as I cleaned the paint, polished it and then waxed it up. Under ICS my still shots were somewhat blurry. With JB I can now get shots with which I can compare now. Unfortunately, I deleted these test shots so I'll have to ask you to just take my word on this.
Hi!!!
I have recently become phone-less, I had an HTC One, which I gave to my brother for his birthday, then I purchased the Nexus 5. Yestarday I dropped the Nexus from ~2ft, onto carpet, and the internal LCD cracked, the glass was fine. I called Google and THANK GOD they let me return it. Right now it is between the HTC One Max and the Moto X. Please give your honest opinions of the Max, I'll be eternally grateful!!

HTC one max man. If you liked HTC one you will love this thing. Screen blows Moto x away but phone is big. If you don't like the added size it won't be a good phone for you. If a big phone doesn't bother you go for the max!!

That's the two I am considering as well. I honestly like the size of the Note 3 better, but I am HTC guy to the bone. I have owned about 8 of them. I like sense alot more than Samsung's touchwiz garbage. If someone could make a HTC Sense rom work on a Note 3, my decision would be made, LOL.

I don't know.... The back is what I despise, the leather-textured plastic crap don't cut it for me.
Pros and cons for both phones....
HTC Pros:
Screen size, clarity and brightness
Signal wifi and LTE are great just like every htc device
Aluminum body/build quality these are top notch
Sense UI i absolutely love sense over any other android ui so big pro for me
Speakers once again boom sound speakers will blow any other phone out there out of the water
Sdcard not often we see an htc with an sdcard
HTC Cons:
Size. phone is huge im 6'4" with big hands and i can barely reach everything i need to. But it is basically a two hand device for the majority of people
Camera doesnt have OIS and only a 4 up i have never been a big fan of the whole up movement and dont think the pictures are terrible but not as good as others (aka note 3, s4, etc)
Little features it lacks as well compared to note 3 would be s pen, multi windows, high screen sensitivity for use with gloves little things like that
Development. While the phone does have s-off, unlocked etc etc there is no roms for verizon you can use xposed all you want but no custom roms
Somewhere in the middle
Battery. While the battery life is great always lasted me a full day from when i get up til i go to bed would be nice if you could remove battery and replace with a charged one but not a huge deal
Note 3 time....Pros:
Screen size and ppi while it is not as bright as htc one max it does have like a 13 ppi higher not a big deal here though lol
Removable battery and sdcard, nice to have both and battery lasts just as well as htc one max
Camera the 13mp shooter does better then htc i think and also 4k video not available on any other device
Little features as mentioned above. s pen, multi windows, high screen sensitivity for use with gloves, ambient temp/humidity sensor little things like that are nice to have especially now in the winter lol
Development (for me at least) i have developer edition so i have unlocked bootloader and full recovery and access to tmobile and verizon roms and kernels. Now the verizon retail does have safestrap and multiple roms to choose from
Note 3 Cons:
Speaker. I will be honest it straight up sucks! worst i have ever heard i think my first android phone the droid x was better it is awful and after hearing htc one and one max they ruin you lol
Signal. wifi is always giving you connection unstable and bogs down. lte isnt terrible but isnt as good as previous s4 and htc one of course
Somewhere in the middle
Touchwiz ui not a diehard fan of it like i am sense but very nicely done
Build quality. not bad at all but not quite up to par with htc one and one max. fake leather back isnt bad but black does feel better then white.

why dont you just go to a sprint store and look at the 2 yourself?
I never understand why people don't just do things on their own and make up their own minds...
Asking this question in a htc max thread will obviously get you people who say they love this phone, so not sure what you expect to accomplish by asking this here...

I posted in the Moto X and Note III forums as well. I am going to the Sprint store today.
I asked for opinions of people that have used the phone for an extended period of time.
@oneandroidnut nice post thanks
i would still suggest not adding the size as a con.. its the size which is a pro for this device, ppl who buy the device majorly love big screens. Screen is a turn off for me with saturated colors, that's again personal like the size.
and the camera, i won't say its the best camera, however, it is the best usable camera practically. Low light pic's blow out any other phone and due to the bigger size of the phone, users hold the phone real solid before taking the pic resulting in a better picture without OIS. Zoe/Highlight + themes + music = beautiful stuff in Sense 5.5
development is slow to start off, but HTC seems to do a better job than Samsung at the stock, which counts for stock users
S-pen & other gimmicks are genuine feature that is not there on the MAX however S-Pen is not useful for me and many other note users who have migrated from Samsung.

i would still suggest not adding the size as a con.. its the size which is a pro for this device, ppl who buy the device majorly love big screens.
S-pen & other gimmicks are genuine feature that is not there on the MAX however S-Pen is not useful for me and many other note users who have migrated from Samsung.

i agree that i like the size but phone will way to big for the majority of people. and the screen has the best colors of any display to me. the amoled samsung are the over saturated ones.
camera is better in low light but thats about it. my note 3 are sharper and better for just normal light photos.
we will see i hope development picks up on one max i could use a custom rom or two
while i may not need it, it is nice to have. i can use note 3 with s pen if my hands are all nasty, if i have gloves on, etc etc while max or others i cannot. and trust me multi window is nice and not a gimmick
