[q]Dice Player & DTS plugin - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all I have diceplayer with external plugins allowed for dts on my nexus7, but that same plugin does not work on my Galaxy Tab 10.1
Does anyone have an external plugin that allows dts playback on their Galaxy Tab 10.1 or point me in the direction of it?
Thanks!

How did you get Dice player to play DTS on Nexus 7? What plugin did you use and folder did you put it in?

I had the same plugin, its somewhere in the N7 thread. You place it on the root of sdcard and enable the option for custom plugins in Dice settings. It doesn't work for GTab, every time I tried to play a DTS video using Dice, it would just disappear on me... no FC just disappear.

Did you ever find a player that can play dts on the galaxy tab?

Got a 720p w/ DTS transffered to my GTab, I tested using VLC for Android Beta
Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc.betav7neon&hl=en, but I am not able to install from here so I get it from their nightlies http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/armv7-android-neon/
It says for neon and specific hardware for HW accesleration, but it seems to run fine with occasional stutter... but I expect stutter from 720p videos since our processor does not really have mkv support.

Dang, after watching the video longer, its gets out of sync. The problem is that it does not have tegra2 support in the link I posted. They do have a tegra2 version, but it has not been updated since Oct and it doesn't run that great. If your able to, you might be able to build your own tegra2 from their source and get the latest updates to try.

XBMC on the ATP

So now we have an XBMC .apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772433
Has anyone else tried it? It works well for me. It works well with my TV via HDMI
edit
I'm running andowook with _motley's latest kernel.
I get very low volume, even if I go into sound and bump it up.
35 minutes into the movie, the app stopped for no reason.
docking and undocking seem to close the app
I haven't got green flickers yet, but I get the green flickers in openelec all the time, so thats not android specific.
For me it the audio on it is crap and sometimes the whole app flickers rapidly.
Maybe I need to reboot...

I have tried it, mainly streaming video from my Serviio server and it works like a charm. What an amazing app. And it can only get better,
Definitely reboot. About the 3rd time I fired it up after installing some add ons it began running like a charm. The first time you use it there may be a very long start and turn off period. That's ok.
The XBMC interface is running smoothly on my TP.
When i try to stream (WiFI) a X264 movie with DTS over SMB it stutters like mad.
I hope this is because of network speed. I'll try to play the same movie over USB, i hope this works better.
But overall, it's its nice to see XBMC on my Prime

Oh yeah, isn't it software decoding only? For now anyway

As far as I can tell, software only.
Installed the icefilms repo and watched full episode of Eureka. it took a restart of xbmc b4 it worked though. I am ging to try t compile this for my google tv. If it compiles i'm throwing my appletv through a window.

It is software only. I have always used it as a content streamer though, not much as a local player.
I wonder if this can and will support HDMI CEC.
I gave it ago on my Prime running the stock rom, i was quite impressed with how well it worked.
I could map my SMB network shares on my Windows Home Server perfectly and XBMC would stream anything SD fine, 720p MKV played some what ok with random frame drops / jerkiness every couple of seconds, 1080p video was very jerky and not really any watchable.
Plugins such as the BBC iPlayer worked (sometimes buggy), YouTube and Ted Talks also worked very well.
Video overview of my experience here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmttML0LNm4
Very impressed so far, a big well done and thanks to the XBMC team :good:

It does the flicker part on my TFP only if I go to the "Settings" option. Other thatn that it works.
I tested MP4, AVI and MKV formats yersterday. It lags with the MKV playback.
I am also getting alot of background flicker in xbmc. Then sometimes the screen goes black. Going to try a reboot to see if it goes away.

I may be wrong but I believe that these versions of XBMC don't support hardware acceleration just yet. I haven't been on top of the development of this app but that tidbit was enough for me to wait for the final release.
github is here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/commits/android-rebase-8/
There are two builds AFAIK
zefie's: http://files.persona.cc/zefie/files/cell/androidapk/xbmc-unofficial/?C=M&O=D&S=&P=
and the one on miniland: https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/1/topics/136
and no hardware acceleration.

I had the same issue... It's because somehow it doesn't work when your volume isn't at anything but 100%. If it's set to the loudest it can be, the sound works fine.
It's not dead yet. Plenty of ROM development going on in the dev section.

XBMC 12 Frodo
Has anyone tried XBMC 12 Frodo RC3 on ATP? I have a TF201. I'm a long time user of XMBC since the original Xbox, and the app looks great. I'm very happy to see this. But unfortunately, with this version, the videos lag quite a bit and I get absolutely no audio. I've tried changing the audio out options and playing music/video with no luck. I did not yet try pushing the video/music out through HDMI yet, but not really much point yet.
Anyone else trying have experience with this?

great that it worked!...for a while
the difference is huge i agree
300mhz more CPU power doesnt seems that much but it is and you can see it.
i think setting it to the performance governor also made some difference.
also you dont want the CPU clock to be all over the place as it was before (from 200-1000mhz)
there seems to be some problem with SuperSu when its ask for permissions all the time.
when that happends and you are in a movie you will get the lag back even if SetCPU has permision.
you need to change some settings in SuperSu.
i have not tried it yet but it should work

no need to use 1700mhz
that will kill your battery and also higher the risk of thermal throttling for the CPU.
(the CPU clocks down when it gets to hot)
set it to 1300mhz max and 1200mhz min instead.

FYI, the Samsung manual on the Exynos 5 processor in our tablet gives a full list of its hardware decoding capabilities for video. According to the manual it only supports 4.2 profiles and not the much more common 4.1 profiles. It also does not support .mkv files, but not sure if that matters since MKV is just a container and not the codec. But this could be why it isnt using full GPU hardware decoding capabilities of many movies and instead uses so much CPU power:

I tried this trick on Plex too to see if I could minimize the buffering that I've been plagued with. It seemed to help a good amount. There was still some pausing but it happened less often and was of MUCH MUCH MUCH shorter duration (like half a second to one second) and much less intrusive to the watching experience.
Thanks for the tip!

great that it speeds up buffering...didnt know that!
whats is Plex ?
Home media server kind of thing. Run a plex server on a desktop, run the plex app on your tablet and watch your movies, etc. I think part of our buffering problem is a recent change in the setup of the hard drives storing our media files, which we are going to try fixing, but still, set CPU seemed to make things better.

If you read the H.264 wiki, it seems that Levels correspond to supported resolution and frame rate maximums. So all 4.1 encodings should be supported on a 4.2. The BP / MP / HP mean Baseline Profile / Main Profile / High Profile. All different types of encodings.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC#Levels
MKV is a wrapper. It may never be supported on the built in video player, but all 3rd party (MX Player/BS Player etc) can easily demux the core video data for hardware decoding.

Had it on userspace gov. Trying performance now. Also, wouldn't it seem more logical (to eliminate switching altogether), to set it to 1300/1300?
---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
I would not change global SuperSU settings to "grant" instead of "ask".
I configured "grant" and "no notification" for SetCPU and for the ProfilesService instead.
BTW, 1300/1300 also works good for the TimeScape video.
I am really glad someone else finally saw the not-smoothness in video playback. Or maybe some N10 can play smooth without this trick...
Will you inform the BSplayer developers about this? Maybe they can now do something, so that SetCPU is not necessary?
Seems like it may be helping YouTube buffering as well. Need to do some more testing with that.

lol i think they read this
once you have set your profile you dont need to bother with it..so no problem here if its not fixed in BSplayer.
maybe they can fix it but then you probably need root anyway.
i think all N10s perform the same so its no chance you can get this smooth playback with the default setting.
as i said..300mhz is alot for adding performance to an app

TF300T 10.6.1.8 (JB 4.2.1) on TF201?

Has anyone been able to get the latest TF300T ROM flashed on our TF201s? I know we did this for a bit when we waited for JB for the Prime. I tried to do an NVFlash of the kernel and system partition blobs but I get an error the blob.APP is too large. I am guessing we need to do some partitioning or something.

If you noticed when you extracted the main blob there is a blob.PT file. That is doing exactly what you are talking about and repartitioning.
And....... yes I do have it running Just making a new recovery at mo because old ones are not usable and gaining root

This will be ported for you all as I am working on it for the new Androwook update but there are 2 major problems at moment.
The prime does not show up on PC when plugged in. (Kernel related and might need the source code to fix)
Asus customised settings is force closing. We had this before when porting a tf300 rom to the prime but we was able to swap out the settings.apk from an earlier prime version. This is not working this time as so much has changed in the new settings.

Format: Dolby Digital Stereo
BitRate: 384
Language: und
Subtitle Track #1:
Track ID: 2
Format: S_TEXT/UTF8

The picture played back perfectly in stock player but I had no sound.
I then tried it in MX player in default HW mode and the same thing. Perfect picture and no sound.
I then went into options and switched on software decoding just for the audio and then I had picture and sound playing perfectly.
I have no idea if this file behaves the same on the old Prime OS and I don't want to go back to check but maybe it is just the audio codec in the one file I tested.

Asus customised settings is force closing. We had this before when porting a tf300 rom to the prime but we was able to swap out the settings.apk from an earlier prime version. This is not working this time as so much has changed in the new settings.

Can't wait to see it. I tried to flash the zip but it will only show the Asus screen then blink the screen backlight on and off. I did get an error 7 flashing when it got to a the .APP (system) partition so I NVFlashed all the partitions and they all fit this time. But still just blinks the back light on on off. Had to go back to CM 10.1

Hi. With Namidairo's ROM, i can perfectly use my bluetooth headset :good:

Has anyone managed to install v4a viper audio on a mega i9200?

It tried to install the app and driver following the instructions but it still seems to have no effect. I followed all the troubleshooting methods with no success so I'm curious if anyone else has tried and succeeded?
Why you do not try first and tell us is it working?
I installed on my mega 5.8 and great working.
I install it oni9205 it work on 3th part app only the sound is veryyyyyy good..
Sent from my GT-I9205 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Did you have to do anything that wasn't in the installation instructions to get it working. Does the driver need to be in safe mode? Did you install the apk as a user or system app. I use zplayer. I tried it with zplayer my player and the stock Samsung music player.
Im using it on google music player...
Other not working for m...
I try bouth as system n user app only work on google music player.... for movie i use mxplayer...it work...
It's work for me in my i9200 https://db.tt/BOGgfzTG

Is it work on samsung music play????
Does anyone know if this interferes with thering1975's volume Mod? Anyone who had thering's volume mod and flashed this on top off it?
It just loud only...but the bass and others are same...
Try this with Va4android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.music
viper4android seems to work with google music player, but not when we're streaming media through stock browser.
strange, never happened on my past devices before.
and oh, when we're placing voice calls, viper4android seems to enhance the other party's voice, LOL they talk like they're on a podium mic.
I baked Viper4Android into my rom and its working flawlessly...works at all times, playing music, streaming audio or videos like YouTube, even phone calls...works thru loudspeaker, earpiece, headset, even improved my galaxy gear thru bluetooth. So yes, I have it working perfectly.

Never mind I am using power amp and got it working ... viper is a pain sometimes ..you have to go through the settings unchecking this and checking that to get it to work.
Got it

Right I realize he's running the 3g 9200...but given how many people flashed my roms on the 9200 and reported back, about the rom, and a few specifically using viper it works fine both variants... And I use stock Samsung music player...I hate google music player and have 8 gigs of music on my sd card . plus viper works for phone calls, steaming YouTube, even my galaxy gear thru bluetooth sounds better tweaked.

Sweet bro...make sure you run the update in viper for even better sound improvement...Open viper, settings thru menu button, check updates, download the 4.x kit...it's mind blowing lol...I added that to op but think you already had the build downloaded.
Cheers man
