[Q] Unrooted, Superuser Won't Go Away, Can't Reroot - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi,
I rooted my tab last year and it was great. My problems stemmed when I tried to unroot, as I have a factory defect and need to send the tablet off. I unrooted, and it worked, except that the ever persistent SuperUser application stayed. I don't know how to get rid of it or where it's located. Please help?
Thanks
Oh, and I tried to reroot but it didn't work.

You've still got superuser then how you sure that you have unrooted:what:
I m not too sure if you've successfully unrooted...
Try it again
-using xda-premium ..don't forget the thanks:thumbup:

Still didn't work

Okay I tried it two more times using viperMOD PrimeTime. Superuser is still there. I installed Root Checker and it said I was not rooted.

Root checker is just an app that searches for superuser on your device...
.
.
I m sure your device is rooted still and you surely need a geek to sort this out

Are there any other root methods? Maybe I can redo the rooting process with a separate program.

[Q] how to unroot and delete SU apk??

Hallo everybody!!
I am going to send the TF to RMA cause of WiFi, GPS and flickering problems
and I'm trying to get the TP back to how I've got it.
I searched the forum how to do it but I couldn't found how...
can someone link me to the right thread??
I'm trying to delete the SU apk and to unroot
thanks to the helpers!!
You can unroot with the vipermod tool ... i havnt tried to unroot myself but i dont see any reason it wouldnt work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427125
I've tried to use the viper tool... it unroot my TF but the SU apk is
still there.
how can I delete it, the apk??
Try a factory reset from the settings menu
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
been there done that but nope,
still seeing the Superuser apk.
I'm afraid that asus will cancel my warranty cause of that.
come eon guysssss I need your help!!!
What about rooting, delete the SU apk with root explorer then unrooting using vipers tool?

Can you detail it more. In your other post you said you used vipertool and it didn't work, as far as removing SU app. Now you saying it works or worked when you tried again. What was different this time around.
like u said, it worked when I tried again...
I restored the root by rootkeeper and unroot with viper and it worked!!

OK...thanks. good to know
Hi just having same problem berfore rma because of bad wifi. Where can i check for su.apk to be present? I de-rooted over ota-keeper.
/system/app
Or
/data/app
Trying to follow the posts, but a little confused. Am I right in thinking, if one decides to restore Prime into like it is just newly bought, then the right way of doing it is:
Temp unroot it first with e.g. Rootkeeper
Use Vipermod to unroot it
Then finally maybe setting->backup->factory reset
and those first two steps above will also remove su.apk
drop the first step,
and it will work just fine
@kobiarielli
thanks

[Q] undo temp unroot in SU

greetings. i apologize in advance if my thread is not in the correct place.
damn my curiosity. i clicked the "temp unroot" in superuser and it unrooted my phone. bootloader is still unlocked, as well as recovery, but i don't have root access for apps. i can't uninstall and reinstall SU without root... am i screwed?
i'm hesitant to do another one click root process. mainly because it said it would delete all the data on the phone while unlocking the bootloader. but my bootloader is still unlocked...
also, will installing my latest nandroid backup restore root access?
thanks!

What makes u think u lost root?? You can install su from the market.. I think all you need to do is installed su, or supersu from the play store and you should be good to go.. I just looked at this setting is supersu and it says clean up to unroot.. Try reinstalling su... Or restoring a backup could do it too..

i guess i'll try my nandroid backup. i've just made a lot of changes since then and without the option of titanuim, i'll lose it.oh well

Only the software can be "rooted" the term refers to superuser or admin access, root access to special privledges not available to regular users. The device software itself is exploited to allow a Rom root access. The device can be exploited for soff (security off) or the bootloader is unlocked allowing for access to write to the partitions in nand memory. In the case of HTC bootloaders they only allow partial write access to partitions, unofficial/unsigned recoveries do not have access to boot or misc partitions (kernel/firmware)
In response to op in superuser temp unroot is just an option to temporarily hide root, you should be able to just open the app and re-enable. Should that fail try supersu instead, there is a flashable zip on the dev's website that is flashed from recovery and should restore root access using supersu in place of superuser

Again words tossed around a lot. He hasn't lost anything he just removed root. He's fine if his recovery is intact. My assumption is that he feared he was back to stock then again I could be wrong besides root is a folder directory. Thanks for filling the op in.

Again its just an option to temporarily hide root, its not lost. You open the app go to settings and check temp unroot and to get it back, all that is needed is to uncheck temp unroot and restart phone. If it doesn't work which it should then reflash superuser or supersu in recovery to reenable admin access
Hello! I am new here. I have the same problem. I tried temp unroot just out of curiosity and now I think it is really permanently unrooted, because the temp-unroot checkox is no longer checked. I used the root checker and it says "Sorry! The device is not properly rooted". What does that mean? And only Titanium Backup asks for superuser permission. Whenever I use the Link2sd or Root Explorer, they don't ask for superuser permission and I get the error that my phone is not rooted.

[Q] superuser not giving root access. How to fix?

Say byebye to the root.
Reflash Rom, then reflash kernel.again.
Do not do rooting stuff as it is for locked bootloader.
Since your BL is unlocked.

Glad to help you ..
Next time, you could just install custom kernel, download a rooting flashable zip file and install it via kernel's Recovery. I do it often, because I prefer to use Clockworkmod's Superuser and by that zip file, I avoid any kind of problems.

You must finish your rooting by an app and guided by some instruction from some websites. Then maybe the master there will have a post which guiding you back to the starting point.

Okay. Just like what you said, there is a superuser app. How can you get that? I don't know but maybe you took acknowledge at some instructions and rooted your phone and then you get it. So go back to that instruction. Maybe there is another thread which is introducing the way of unroot.

hi
you are not obliged to use superuser app you can use supersu (from play store) , keep in mind that you have to update the binaries from superuser or supersu in order for root to work , you should also chack that usb debuging is checked on your phones developer options otherwise root wont work .

Need help in removing superuser without root

So the story goes, I rooted my phone using Framaroot 1.8.1 and yes it was rooted successfully. Recently I updated my phone to version A706ROW_1_S_2_001_0018_130705, and because of this my phone became unrooted but still had superuser installed. I would like to re-root my phone using Framaroot again but it cannot be rooted due to superuser. I had no luck in other threads as I am new to the android world that even simple terms, I couldn't comprehend. I would like to ask a clear and brief guide/ explanation to how my unrooted phone with superuser's presence be removed completely. Thank you in advance, Please.
