Yesterday, my phone fell (not very hard, onto a carpeted floor). I picked it up and put it in my pocket without looking.. When I went to check my phone, it was off. I tried to turn it on, but it would only go to the HTC screen, then the screen would go black but the home icons would be lit up. I took the battery out and let it sit for a couple of hours. Tried to put it back in and the phone wouldn't turn on at all. I put it on the charger, it turned red for about 5 seconds, turned off, then repeats. If I try to turn the phone on, the LED light blinks a very dim red for 2 seconds then stops. I can't even hold the volume button and the power button, it just blinks the dim red. As far as I know, it is not rooted. I got it second hand about a year ago after my phone got stolen. I have never had any problems with it other than the camera.. It just stopped working eventually. Help?
Anytime you drop the phone, even if it wasn't a hard hit, it can damage something on the main board, which could be your problem. However, since you say the led is very dim red, that is a sign that the battery itself is damaged and won't charge. I would try to get a cheap battery off ebay to see if that's the problem.
You probably damaged some micro vital componants on your motherboard which is preventing your device to function in a normal way.
must be motherboard, or some other chip

Hi everyone.
I dropped my phone today, and the screen broke.
The phone still seems to work properly, but the classic signs of a broken LCD are present: purple screen with many many lines and nothing legible.
I have ordered a replacement screen already, but I cannot get the phone to shut down and stay turned off.
Since the screen is broken internally, it does not respond to my touch.
I can hold down the power button for 15 seconds but that does a reset, and the phone automatically turns back on.
Is there anyway to keep the phone off other than by draining the battery completely?
I need to keep it powered down so that I can disassemble it safely.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I don't know of any way, but as long as you are careful while disassembling you should be fine. You should be able to pry the screen out enough that you can disconnect the battery before disconnecting the screen. I doubt disconnecting the screen with the phone on would damage anything anyway. I believe people do this iPhone screens all the time to test them.
Hello!
Earlier tonight I received a text message and then my phone died - I knew the battery was nearly dead.
When I plugged it in, nothing happened - no orange LED like usual.
I let it sit for a while and still nothing.
Eventually I pulled the battery and put it back in and still won't power on.
Pulled the battery again (left it out), left the back cover off, and then plugged in the power.
After about 2 seconds the orange LED comes on for about 4 seconds and then turns off <---I've not seen any other posts mention this.
The phone will not boot still though - tried holding down power for 60 seconds, and even tried in conjunction with volume up and volume down.
The screen remains black, no vibration, no HTC logo .. nothing.
My wife has the same phone, so I put her battery in mine and it still will not boot.
My phone is NOT rooted or modified in any way (using stock VzW rom)
The screen is cracked but it's been that way for months and I've had an Otterbox on it ever since (go figure .. should have had one before it got broken). It's been working fine. It has not gotten wet today, or been sat on, or dropped or even looked at funny.
The phone is out of warranty and I do not have VzW accidental coverage.
Are there any more tricks to try, or should I go to the store tomorrow?
Thanks!
I am going to plug it into the computer and see if ADB will see it, but my assumption is no.
I'm thinking maybe the processor died... ???
I know if a PC processor dies then nothing happens when trying to boot .. no post beep or video.

Try charging the battery on your wifes phone then turning yours on and see if it works if the processors dead like you assume then well R.I.P Rezzy if you call verizon they will tell you to do a factory reset from the recovery maybe you could try that
Hi,
Yesterday my phone got under water. Sicnce it is waterproof, it really didn't matter to me, so I just used it normally. Then I noticed that the SD card wasn't working so I took it out and saw it was wet. I then let my phone "dry up" for a couple of hours and the put the SD card back in and it worked perfectly. I used the phone for about 3 hours and went to bed. I did not put it in the charger, and when I woke up the phone wouldn't turn on. I figured it had to be a dead battery, but I got no response when connecting it to te charger(I tried with several chargers). I left it in the charger for 8 hours while I was at school and when I got home, the LED was blinking RED, but it still won't turn on.
When I connect it to the computer, the LED turns RED and the computer makes the "connected" sound. Then the LED turns black and the "disconnect" souns comes. Then it turns RED again and so on..
Is this a water damage? Or may this be caused by my custom ROM? If it is a water damage are there any way to save it? Or do I have to take it to service? Is this a guarantee thing?
Thanks
Hi everyone, this is my first post on XDA.
My S3 had a broken screen, so I wanted to get it fixed. The repair shops quoted quite a hefty price for the repair (even though it was just the glass that was, not the digitiser) so I bought a kit to repair it myself. The repair went smoothly, and I didn't need to do anything to the actual LCD display. However, when the repair was finished, the phone would not turn on. I assumed it had a flat battery (it was on 5% when I started the repair) so I plugged the phone in. The phone's LED lit in an orange colour, that i've never seen before. So I left it for 1 hour, then I came back. The phone still had an orange LED lit. The phone would not turn on. I kept the plug in and took the battery out and the phone vibrated. Then I plugged the phone back in and a red LED lit. I've left it like that for 2 hours, and the phone would still not turn on. I plugged it back into my PC and the LED lit green. The phone would still not turn on but the PC showed "GT-I9300" as a Media Device in the File Explorer but it didn't have anything on it. The phone now displays a green LED whenever I plug it into any normal charger. When I unplug it, the power button makes the phone vibrate when I press it.
Please could you help me? I need a phone.

Red led is charging, green led is charged. Orange led.. Never known it to use orange so i assume its a fault.
It does seem like the phone is booted up and running yet the screen shows nothing. Possibly halted in post?. Have you double checked your work for loose connections etc?. What are the chances of the replacement being faulty?.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
I didn't actually remove or do anything to the LCD, so it can't be lose connections etc.
I left it overnight on the green LED and it still isn't turning on, plugged in or not.
I'm going to call Samsung to see if they can fix anything or if I need a replacement phone (its about 3 years old so not under warranty though)
It isn't turned on, I tried calling the phone and it went straight to voicemail. And I get no startup sounds, nothing.

Samsung will charge if it's out of warranty.
So what exactly did you do if you didnt disassemble it?
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Going to send it off to Samsung. I literally removed the screen's glass and placed a new one on.
Can you do that without damaging the digitiser? I would have thought they'd be "married" in some way or other ie glue.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
About two years ago I ran in the rain, and the digitizer malfunctioned(and possibly other things?) It still worked, but it would cut off randomly unless I attached a battery or charger via usb.
Fast forward to today, the telescreen I bought as a replacement broke, so I've been using my old one until I get a new one.
But, now it won't turn on at all. The battery seems like it exploded slightly, as it has bulged. I have removed it.
The same symptoms apply, whether the battery is attached or not. The LED shines red when attached to a charger. If a press and hold the power button for 5 seconds or so, the vibrators buzzes like it normally does when it powers on, but while the screen turns on it remains black, when the Sony and Android logo should have appeared.
It's a Sony Xperia C5.
