I was able to use the interface of the Blueinput.apk (from Teksoft) by installing it under the alternative keyboard method of moving the apk from data/apps to system/aps and then reboot. You should be able to select this "keyboard" on long press. Assuming you have already run the program with BT on and your keyboard paired and connected, (and in my case my Mogo BT mouse) you can type with your bluetooth keyboard.
The mouse has no cursor and is a bit jittery, but it works. My mouse functions as a three button mouse and the center button backs you out of a program to the home screen.
BlueInput force closes
Sorry to revive a slightly old thread, but I figured it would be better than starting a new one.
I tried to do this with my gtab on TnT Lite 3.1.1, but BlueInput force closes on me when I try to launch it, press the pairing button at the bottom when an input box is active, or access the keyboard settings in the settings menu.
These are the exact steps I performed:
Downloaded BlueInput version 1.7.202 from www .teksoftco. com/index.php?section=blueinputandroid&tab=download
Copied the blueinputandroid_signed_1.7.202.apk to my /sdcard/
Opened Root Explorer
Copied /sdcard/blueinputandroid_signed_1.7.202.apk
Navigated to /system/app
Mount R/W
Pasted blueinputandroid_signed_1.7.202.apk
Longpressed blueinputandroid_signed_1.7.202.apk
Permissions
Checked: User Read+Write, Group Read, Others Read
Mount R/O
Restarted gtab
Opened a text input field (Google Search widget)
Longpressed text boxt -> Input Method
Selected BlueInput
Pressed the pairing button on the bottom left (BlueInput icon)
Force Close
I've tried this with bluetooth off, bluetooth on but not paired, and bluetooth on and paired but not connected (Apple Wireless Keyboard).
Would anyone happen to have any tips as to what I've done incorrectly?
Thanks in advance.
Hello
I just installed 3.1.1 for the first time last night. I also just installed Blueinput from my saved APK. I ran it.. it loads fine. I then did the fix by moving the apk to /system. Ran it fine. Turned on Blue tooth. Paired my Mogo mouse just now. Went into a dialog box. Long press and select Blueinput as the keyboard (it does not render a dot in the box, but it activates it as the keyboard). Mouse works fine. I assume my keyboard will work as well. Not sure why you are getting FC. perhaps is is an old version or something. I am running BlueInput 1.6.131
@joncwchao
Did you also install the ap? I got the fc folling your steps, then i installed the app...
Did you try to install it normally first to see that this new version runs? If not, try to get the previous version install it normally, make sure it runs, then move it to /SYSTEM/APPS. Then reboot.
EDIT: I downloaded the new version 1.7 and confirm it works. I am typing with it now.
What Bluetooth Keyboard are you using? I had the Microsoft 6000, but it would not work. It would show up and act like it was working, but would only make a clicking noise. No letters would show up. Now I am using a USB keyboard which works pretty well. Thanks!
I am using a DEALEXTREME apple BT clone. Works great. Small enough but not miniture either.
Whoops
Yeah ok that was my mistake, I was moving the installer .apk instead of the installed app .apk.
Both the 1.7 and 1.6 versions work.
I'm using the official Apple Wireless Keyboard, which I got for 65.99 (WOO $4 savings on boxing day sigh).
Is there any way to make it so that it DOESN'T come up with the text input box taking up the entire screen every time I press on a text input field? I know that this BlueInput fix is (hopefully) temporary since bluetooth will be rolled into the custom firmwares eventually, but it's a little annoying lol.

I am not sure how many of you out there share the same desire to have a thin/small wireless keyboard to go along with your beloved GTablet. I have a netbook carrying bag that barely fits the dimensions of the Gtab and I wanted a keyboard that matches that width to fit in the bag. The apple wireless keyboard is exactly 11 inches wide and the Gtab is 10.5, close enough in my case.
I am running TNT Lite 4.4.0 and decided to buy and connect the bluetooth keyboard with little initial success. I am not an android developer, but don't give up easily and am happy to report that I finally got it to work. Here is how:
1) Download free app called Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect
2) Turn on bluetooth
3) Turn on Apple keyboard
4) Scan for bluetooth devices on GTab
5) Pair to Apple Keyboard after it is discovered
6) Enter a pin into your GTab, (ex. 0000) and then OK.
7) Quickly, while it is trying to connect, enter the same pin into the Apple Keyboard and press Return. They will now be "paired but not connected"
8) Open Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect and it will take care of the connecting part.
Hope this helps someone.
Absolutely. I futzed for 30 minutes before giving up yesterday, I could get it paired but not connected. Thanks for the info!
I was able to connect a Logitech DiNovo mini using this info. The touch pad worked too but was erratic.
Are you able to get the greater than/less than symbols (< >) to work? I have a bluetooth palm keyboard and can't seem to get these characters to come up. Instead it gives me a semi-colon and colon.
opnscraddict,
I hadn't tried that one yet, but you are right. < and > don't seem to be working. Everything else I tried works though. Hmmm, maybe one of the paid keyboard apps would provide a key re-mapping functionality. I think I can live with it the way it is though, and use the onscreen keyboard when necessary for those two characters.
Works for Bluetooth mouse
I've also used EasyConnect to get my bluetooth mouse working. I was in the same situation with my mouse as the keyboard - it would pair but not connect.
I'm working on replacing my school laptop with my GTab and I need those keys for my C++ class. I found a thread on how to customize the key mapping, I'll try it when I get home today. Link
Does your bluetooth keyboard reconnect automatically when you turn on bluetooth without any interaction? I couldn't get mine to connect again after the first time.

I think you are going to regret that decision.
Right, I'm not entirely sure on how feasible it is. However, the majority of my time on my school laptop is spent on Facebook, Onenote and Visual Studio. The battery life and weight advantages of the Gtab make it an attractive replacement.
I can confirm that by following the instructions that I linked to in my previous post I was able to remap the keys to enable the greater than and less than signs.
Huh?

How are you going to install Visual Studio on the gTab?
I am going to access my workstation at home through rdp. I've tested the scaling and latency and it is pretty seamless. I also considered trying to run Ubuntu through VNC locally on the tablet and just using a linux IDE. With this keyboard workign 100%, this seems in the realm of possibility now.
Ah... gotcha. I use LogMeIn Ignition to access my laptop from my gTab. I used to have to carry that laptop around on trips and now I just take my gTab.
finally gave up
I tried for a whole half a day to get my Apple wireless keyboard to work. I'm using Vegan.
I finally gave up when I just plugged my full sized Dell keyboard in, and it worked like a charm without any issues at all. I'm just going to go hunt for a mini USB keyboard and I will be more than satisfied with that.

Whenever I connect my mini bluetooth keyboard, a mouse pointer comes up in the middle of the screen. The keyboard doesn't have any controls for the mouse (I think) and there is no way to get rid of it without disabling the bluetooth keyboard.
Does anyone know of anyway to disable the mouse pointer or hide it somehow? I am on 2.3.3

EDIT: Changed ROM to Exynos Extreme 3.2, mouse pointer gone now
Yea, I have the same issue... Anyone know of a fix?
Not a fix as such ...
I have one of the cheap EBay bluetooth keyboards but I don't have this problem. In other words, my keyboard identifies itself to the phone just as a keyboard, your one obviously claims to be a mouse as well.
I'd say you have 2 options:
Maybe, just maybe, somewhere in Settings -> Wireless and network ->Bluetooth Settings under Bluetooth devices, you will be able to modify the settings for your keyboard: Press and Hold the device and click on options. I have a tickbox for "HID device" only - you may have something else for pointing device?
Maybe your keyboard has a mouse-type device on it. Assuming there isn't a obvious d-pad somewhere, maybe it's a 2-key combination involving the use of some "magic" key along with the arrow keys. If you can figure it out, then just move the pointer out of the way, and you're good!

Unfortunately I only have one profile in the bluetooth settings as well. There is a D-pad on the keyboard on the WASD keys but when using them all it does is cycles through the context menus.
Is there an app that would allow me to control the mouse pointer by touch or by binding the directions to keys on the keyboard? I've searched but found zilch
I have exactly the same problem on a galaxy s 1 with gingerbread and would love to know of a fix. I tried to find an app to move the pointer to the right edge of the screen but I couldn't find anything.
I have the exactly same problem as you all. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.3.3 on it and a keyboard which identifies itself as "Bluetooth mini Keyboard" (cheap from ebay). It works as it should, but there's this annoying mouse pointer in the middle of the screen and I have no idea how to disable it -.-
I guess I'm just going to have to invest in a decent keyboard/controller until this issue is resolved, does anyone know of any good ones specifically for NES and PS1 emulators and the like
I've fixed this now, if anyone is having the same problem I noticed the mouse does not appear when using the Exynos Extreme ROM.

Great to hear that there is a fix for this...
But as that ROM is for SGS2 owners I just wounder if anyone got
rid of this issue on a SG I9000?
Would be great with an easier fix than flashing with a specific ROM,
evnt though I think I'll do that if that's the only route to go!
(running DarkyROM 10.2EEF ATM)
Thanks in advance!

Apparently the mouse pointer is hard coded with samsung roms. There are a few non-samsung roms out there that have a pointer.png in the framework.apk that could be edited, but unfortunately samsung roms do not have this png. I've scoured several apk's in the system folder and none of them have it. I've also searched and installed every possible app in the market that may have been able to move the pointer, but none of them worked. They were mostly wifi apps to control a PC mouse.
I've been trying to resolve this issue for weeks and have come to the conclusion that no one knows or cares to take the time to figure it out. I even got in a fight with someone because he felt I was the only one with this issue and was complaining that there wasn't a fix.
There's a bunch of bt keyboards out there that cause the mouse pointer to appear, so there's a strong chance that someone with some technical skill will be able to resolve it someday...probably after the "official" gingerbread release. In the meantime, try to find the cheapest bt mouse you can get your hands on and move it out of the way.
I've been running CM7 alpha 2.1 on my TouchPads since it was released. It's been amazingly stable for something labeled as an alpha! Virtually all of the apps from my Nook Color Titanium Backup restored and work well on the TouchPad, but there are two I'd used frequently that aren't working. I figured I'd ask here in case anyone might have a suggested fix/workaround.
First off, Scrabble. I know this game's display targets phones, but on my Nook Color it ran fine full screen after I unchecked Compatibility Mode in Spare Parts. On the TouchPad the screen is split in two with the top half (portrait orientation only) showing the Scrabble screen but replicated horizontally several times, and the bottom half a bunch of garbled pixels. I've tried toggling Compatibility Mode and rebooting a few times, but nothing's helped.
And now, Cisco AnyConnect. This VPN client works fine on the Nook Color, but when I start a VPN session on the TouchPad, it just hangs trying to connect. I don't know if perhaps the TouchPad's kernel is missing a key module (tun?) and the VPN client isn't properly detecting/reporting that, or perhaps it's a lower level issue than that.
Thoughts on either? Thanks!
I have the same problem with Scrabble. Has anyone come up with a fix yet??
I'm running the CM7 3.5 alpha..
I also have this problem with Scrabble, as well as with Let's Golf 3 HD.
Anyconnect doesn't work here as well. Prompts me for username and password, but never connects.
Well I tried it with MIUI and its the same.. must be a resolution thing... We'll have to wait for a better build of CM7 or maybe CM9 will handle it better considering its a tablet and phone OS..
I just heard about this and it was free so decided to try it out...but I have no idea how to control my phone when it's on my pc screen. I can click the hard buttosn that it displays on the GUI but anything on the phone screen itself (displayed on the PC), it only has the big blue circle that does nothing when I click except pulse a bit telling me I clicked here.
Also, the description was a bit confusing but when they said use the phone as a second monitor..I can't extent my PC Windows as a dual screen, right? Just meaning I can use both devices simultaneously with a single KB/M set??
edit:
seems like it responds to Key Board but not the Mouse. Also with Keyboard, I can't siwtch back the Window to 1 and 5 out of 5, only between 2 3 4? If I keep pushing Left or Right it finally goes. Int he App Drawer Page...I have no idea how to scroll up and down to choose something else that's not in my PoV
