I had a droid 2 that was rooted. Everytime the wifi was turned off and on, the mac address would change. Would this happen on my Note II with Jelly 'Beans' rom? Only think limiting me as my school's wifi requires a constant mac address.
Thank you.
My MAC has been the same since I got it.

You can't use the samsung update while rooted.

you can get it free from the market
basically you download it to your phone and your tablet, you run it as a server on the phone and as a client on the tablet

I have an Ubuntu Laptop and I'm not able to share my LAN connection to my Android phone. The WiFi hotspot feature in Ubuntu creates an Ad-Hoc connection which cannot be detected by ICS. Anyone have a modded wpa_supplicant to enable Ad-Hoc in ICS? I'm on stock XWLP7 if that helps.
Help would really be appreciated.

You don't have any solutions doesn't mean no one has any. Why say unnecessary stuff if you have no help to provide?

Hello there.
I bought Samsung Galaxy SIII about two months ago, it was working great untill I updated it OTA. I had Android 4.04 before the update, when I updated it, it was still 4.04 but since then, my WiFi's not working. I mean, it works when I'm in the room where the router is, but when I leave the room, I don't have internet access. I updated to Jelly Bean OTA, still nothing. The problem is still there. Any suggestions? If you need more info about my phone, feel free to ask. Thank you in advance.
Anyone? Please help, without Wi-Fi my phone is useless for me.

Are you sure? Because I don't want to lose all my data. And I already tried it when I had Android 4.04 and it didn't fix it, but I did not try it on Jelly Bean.

Still nothing, any other ideas?
I doubt it has got something to do with the update. (I'm not saying it's impossible - It's just highly unlikely)
Maybe you typed the password wrong, or the security type is wrong.
Try deleting the network, from your device, and then checking out the different settings, like WEP, WPA, WPA2-Personal (PSK) and then checking if your password was/is incorrect

My password is not incorrect because I can connect when I'm in the room where the router is, but as soon as I leave, like 10 metres away from router, it disconnects and I get that " Obtaining IP address" error.

Nope, it would need drivers which don't exist. OTG is really only for external media or HID

My school was far behind. In 1996 when I left, they just got the internet and was for "teachers only". We had commerce (which was typing) and that was about it. In 2000, I still didn't really understand what a C: drive was (Although I could use DOS oddly).

No I don't think rooting is required for that.
Just Google it
You can find lots of tutorials for it.
Actually I have done it.
But I forgot it was a long time ago.

I cannot figure out why, I've never seen that before.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to fix this. I just checked my Verizon V60 and it shows it's working.
The only time I ever saw this was on my Nook HD+, after I had rooted and installed a custom ROM. I assumed it was because the ROM was labeled as a developer build and never tried to fix it (I only used it to read books and stream video, so wasn't worried about backups).
Hope you get it figured out!

It's so weird. The last successful backup was August 11th. I don't have the 1st clue what happened after that
So still no Google backup. Google One doesn't work, and a Google "engineer" has been working on it for 3 weeks with no solution lol
