The search bar is RIGHT THERE. IT has become so easy to access, so user friendly! There is even a seperate, preconfigured search bar that will search in the exact forum you are browsing which is not even a click away.
IT IS ALWAYS THERE.
IT IS ALREADY SETUP. IT IS SO EASY FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO TYPE IN ANY USELESS, SUPER NOOB QUESTION AND SIMPLY HIT ENTER.
IT TOOK ME 6 ENTIRE LETTERS, IF YOU COUNT THE SPACE, TO PULL UP THIS EXACT THREAD, WORDED IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT WAYS, FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT USERS, AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES, ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT DAYS, ALL REQUESTING THE EXACT BIT OF INFORMATION YOU SEEK. EACH THREAD HAS SEVERAL DIFFERENT ANSWERS, FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT USERS, WHO ATTEMPTED SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS, TO SUCCESFULLY FIX 1 COMMON PROBLEM, AND OFFER THE EXACT BIT OF INFORMATION YOU SEEK.
That being said. Apply a sticker across the back of your SIM and tray, fusing them together snuggly to prevent movement of the SIM, resulting in a SIM error from, what I strongly believe, lack of contact between SIM and reader. Pretty much faulty hardware in all of our HOX+'s. No it is not related to "Rom flashing, kernel install, bricking, rooting, dropping, shaking, eating, digesting, virus, porn, cheating on spouse, exposure to high intensity gamma rays produced from a prototype ray gun, assembled to destroy the world in Mojo Jojo's Lair, or any other possibilities other then a mistake made by HTC.
Awaiting your attempt to justify the need create a seperate thread.
Sincerely,
Sparkplug619, the man with too much freetime at work.

I did a search for hox+ no SIM and everything that came back was for the hox so I decided to yes be lazy and post here. Lol thanks for the help!

[Q] Misstyped my sim-code too many times.. need help

Hey everyone. I'm using a HTC Hero G2 GSM phone running froydvillain and I love it. I recently ran into a problem. I've been out drinking and suddently my phone asks for my sim code. I totally forgot my sim code and tried whatever I could think of, but after three attempts, my phone locked asking for a PUK code.
I'm in possesion of my PUK and my pin code but I don't know where to type it in. On the lock screen there's only some information about looking for the user guide or customer care and no option for typing in the PUK code.
Please help me and thanks in advance
-Regards: Me
EDIT: I found a fix for the problem.
If you don't mind, what was the fix?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I tried using the search function for once and most of the posts didn't have a reply, but considering I was partly drunk when I wrote, then I'm quite stubborn and I found some dude who had written this:
**05*[PUK-code]*[new PIN-code]*[new PIN-code]#
Click to collapse
And my phone provider had sent me my PUK code in an old e-mail which I fortunately had saved in case I would need it.
And on the part where to write it, I simply pressed the "emergency call" button and wrote it with the keyboard there..
Hope this answers your question
Cool, thanks

Any way to get rid of the microSD card connected notification?

Hi everyone
What the title says. Since I am planning on having the microSD card permanently plugged into the prime, I really don't want to see that notification. Is it possible to get rid of it? Like in my galaxy s2 when I plug in the microSD card it gives me a quick notification and then goes away.

Yes. It is.
But you'll have to root, unlock you bootloader (void your warranty), and install custom/tweaked software. For the moment at least, and I doubt ASUS is changing any of its UI quirks. They're design choices which reflect how they (TW) feel about mobile tech IMO it seems as though they don't do the Western "bigger is better" but more of "the less I carry the better," I think they expect you to have one universal mSD card that you move about as needed. I think they generally expect you to just use the internal SD card and stream most everything else; but that's why we get unlocks and custom software.
Short answer, just deal with it until you're willing to void the warranty (a year?) and then install a custom ROM which looks and performs to your liking.
I agree with OP. How about headphones notification too?
Do other launchers not change anything?
I'm ok stock and the notifications don't drive me too mad, so I haven't tried. Don't guess that would change the behavior of the notification area though would it?
Same with the dock. I know my dock is plugged in.
I also have a 32 GB microSD that I leave in all the time. I think it would be nice if the notification could be 'reversed' (i.e. the notification would show when there is no microSD inserted). This way you would get no notification while the thing is inserted but if the microSD out it accidentally comes out you would get a notification saying it wasn't inserted. I have heard at least 3 cases where people have lost their microSD card from it accidentally coming out. A notification saying that the microSD isn't inserted may help prevent people from losing the little things.

Look up the app Tasker and you can create an alarm when the mSD ejects. I think Lock-N-Load mentioned this?

Yep. The notifications need to go.
I agree that they are way overkill, and for the present unlocking bootloader/flashing ROMs isn't practical, even if there WAS a ROM that addressed this. I am not sure that there is such an animal, but it is likely to be on any ROM chef's short list.
In my case, as with a lot of folks, I have the full monty of 3 relatively useless notifications for the 2 removable storage devices and the dock. I just love the helpful little hint that Asus has provided, telling me to use the keyboard "to type words" - I was so confused as to what to do with all those letter keys prior to that really useful tip!
I disagree that Asus is not likely to change it; I think they would be VERY willing to change it, perhaps to the method that Samsung uses as previously posted. But if we don't let them KNOW we want the change, then it isn't going to go anywhere. They may think they did a nice piece of design work there, and will continue to think so until the end users make them aware that it is generally, okay universally unloved.
Despite their ever increasing size, Asus has a small enough company culture that these kinds of changes are still possible in a reasonable time frame. I suggested some corrections to the horrendous English translations on their WebStorage Page, and not only did they make the changes, they asked me if there were any other language issues on the site. Seeing as I am not on the Asus payroll, LOL, I declined the offer to help them correct everything. Besides, I am no English Masters Degree language translation specialist, which is what they need.
One idea I had is to as Gary Key via a PM, how we should direct bug reports and feature requests, since we have the good fortune to have a Asus presence here in the forums. If I get a direct answer or any specific info, I will try to post it and ask it to be stickied.

Yep, I use Tasker to play a notification song that can only be stopped if I interact with the tablet and it pops an ALERT! notification icon. So, you will know instantly.

[Q] HTC one x+ Issues-anyone else have these?

Hi
I have had this phone for just over a week, and when closing certain apps from the multitasking button, and then pressing home, my wallpaper disappears for about 5 seconds, as well as the notification bar, which is gone for like 15 seconds. Also, sometimes the apps I am trying to swipe upwards to kill glitch out and do not close, the phone almost gets confused and mixes the applications up. Are these known bugs to all HOX+ users, or software issues with just my phone? My screen recently was cracked when it was knocked out of my hands by a stranger while I was removing the SIM (because I also had SIM issues with this phone, like many others on this forum) and ATT now all of a sudden says I have no warranty on it. I was wondering if anyone else had these issues I have been having with the HOX+ software so I know whether or not I should be able to be under full warranty, or if these are just general problems. ATT was of course of no help. They said my issues were not documented, and told me to go to a store because it would be under warranty but as soon as I said the word crack it was like talking to a wall. Geesh. Hope you guys can help, thanks!

Right, I don't think the source of the weird behaviour of your AT&T One X + is coming from the software as such, but from dropping it. Unless you have taken out an insurace to cover such accidents I would say you will be left with the costs yourself.

A cracked screen will have touch sensor issues and will behave like you describe.
I have not looked up the SIM issue but on my international version I have no problems even when switching to an LTE SIM.

[Q] No SIM card detected--random

I have had a bog-standard, stock HTC One X+ (AT&T) since about November. Occasionally I will look and it will say that I have no SIM card installed--this doesn't happen as a result of a bump/jostle/anything that I can tell. I've noticed it when it's been sitting in a dock (both car and home), when it's sleeping on a table and while it's in my pocket.
The only way to "fix" this that I've found so far is to reboot. I thought that I'd be able to toggle through Airplane Mode but that hasn't really worked to get it to re-detect the SIM.
Has anyone else come across this? I wasn't able to find it when searching the forums.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Ha I was just about to post, "prepare to get flamed!" but I was beat to it. I posted the same question after searching and everyone felt the need to tell me how poor a person I am. Try taking the sim out and reinstalling it. Worked for me.

Question Dual DIM ringtone

Hi all. I've been running my P6 as my daily driver since January, and have to say coming from mostly Samsung devices, I really enjoy it. I love being able to root without all the headaches too. But one thing has been a thorn in my side: dual SIM.
Specifically, ringtone. From my googling, seems it's impossible to set a different ringtone for each SIM (way to go Google) but I'm here asking if there would be any kind of workaround, be it different dialer, root avenue, anything? I'm desperate here!!
I use dual SIM for work because carrying two phones is a massive PITA, and although I don't mind having to go through hoops with an eSIM and whatnot, but the fact you can't set a different ringtone on the each SIM is... mind boggling. Add to that the only thing differentiating which SIM is calling or texting is a tiny little mention lost in a see of flashing, moving characters, it's just gross. (I mean for crying out loud there's an option to colour each SIM, but the phone ignores it!!!)
Only options I've found would be another device (d'uh) or a custom ROM; issue with that I haven't flashed a ROM in over 8 years and I feel like I'm losing out on a lot of what makes this phone good, notable Google Camera App (again, haven't flashed in a while, maybe you can still get that now?) And other device, well in Canada dual SIM phones are few and far between, and importing a phone - like I did before - results in really choppy signal performance and I live in the sticks...
Before I snap I figured I'd send one last beacon here... thanks for the input.

Sorry, ain't happening anytime soon, but it's certainly a good idea. The only thing I can think of is to set a separate ringtone for all of your contacts that call on one line (royal pain but I do it for some contacts) and leave it be for those that are work related. Separate phones are not even a decent alternative imo. Hey if you find something post it here, I could use it too.
Yeah I wish I could but I get calls from anyone and everyone, and to make matters worse some call me on my work phone AND personal. Since I travel a lot it's becoming a serious annoyance when roaming in particular.
If I find something out I'll share but like you said... I don't understand though, it's such an easy thing to implement you'd think. ALL other manufacturers do it!!

I think DSDS is relatively new and not a lot of people use it. At least yet. Some workers get phones from the business and can't really use it for personal stuff and some probably don't want to expose themselves to enterprise snooping. So until it really takes hold we might be low on the totem pole. Apple has had DSDS for a year or so longer and I wonder if they implement separate ringtones. As of a couple of years ago they did not.
If you enable a work profile, you can choose different ringtones, notifications and alarms for the different profiles, and, if you have different accounts for different contacts it will show different icons for the contacts.

Ok you have my attention... are you talking about different ringtones for the SIM or for contacts? Because I have a work profile and I have tried that route - assigning the SIM to it - but can't seem to make it work. If you have some litterature on this I'd love to give it a second shot.

I have seen a few comments on this online, but not going to lie, I don't quite grasp the difference between dual standby and dual active, or really what exactly makes a phone DSDS and another not. Can't say I see any practical difference between the Pixel 6 and my previous phone (S9 Duos), so maybe there's some fundamental concept eluding me. I'll read up on it...
Thanks folks!

It's really not that complicated so I'll try to walk you thru it. Dual standby (dsds) means that both lines are actively awaiting a call or text. However, when one rings and you answer the other sim goes inactive until you hang up. It will go to voicemail. Dual active is when a phone has two radios and both can make and receive calls at the same time. You can be on a call and the other line rings and you can put the first one on hold and answer the second call. Not many phone have two radios. They are expensive and they'd be large and more than likely use a lot of battery keeping both radios active.
Then there is the older technology which was DSSA (dual sim single active). There you had to either activate one line or the other but not both. So even if you weren't on a call and the eSim wasn't the primary you wouldn't get a call on that line. You could manually switch the active sim but they were not both on standby like DSDS.
So the only way to make a separate ringtone now would be for it to be implemented in the device or the software managing the sims. That is not available to my knowledge. Does this help you understand it a little better or did I confuse you even more?

It works on contacts, not on SIM cards, my mistake. At least I use it that way, as I don't have my coworkers saved on my main personal account it recognizes that the work contacts are on the work account.

Well that's definitely easy enough, thank you! From this I'd say my S9 was also DSDS, and it had a very simple setting to choose the ringtone per SIM, therefore it's 100% doable. Just need software for it. Clearly Google doesn't give two pennies about it but I'm wondering if there would be another way (albeit probably root). I guess it's just not popular or widespread enough to warrant someone with the skills to actually look into it.

Yes that's what I was afraid of. Like I said my problem is I don't deal with only cooworkers, I deal with a ton of random people and many using unlisted/private numbers, so I can't use that work around

Bit off topic but something strange happened to me yesterday: I was on a conference call on one sim, and a call came in on the other sim! I could answer it, switch calls, the whole 9 yards. Wouldn't this be impossible in theory on DSDS?

I believe you're right. I think it will work with Wifi calling, which I don't have on. I'll try it tomorrow.
My crystal ball says;
Sims will be obsolete in a few years when data goes beyond 5G technology.
VOIP maybe the future.
@DenisEhm I can't seem to get calling wifi on. I had it some years ago but it kept dropping out and I finally gave up on it. But if you say it works then I'm sure you are correct. Good to know. As for @vandyman pay no attention to him. Gone off the deep end. But he knows his stuff for sure when he puts away that crystal ball.
