Hey !
I've tried the linux emulation but it's not really efficient to use with a lapdock, so how can i install ubuntu and use it properly on my modded atrix lapdock ??
Thank you very much

No way yet. The only hope is porting ubuntu for phone when it will be released.

Who want weptop on sgs2?

Hello,
I was just about to buy a cheap desktop to run ubuntu. However I thought now that my phone can be overclocked to 1.5 ghz. This makes it easily fast enough to run ubuntu when my hd2 can run ubuntu fast enough. So why couldnt we have ubuntu running on our sgs2 as well as running the phone os through kies or something similar? However we dont have the mhl cable cable but when it is released then webtop would be very useful and save people a lot of money. If you agree then please make a comment so hopefully developers will not feel like it is a waste of time developing it.
Thanks,
Billy

I guess were not getting webtop ported then

Even if somebody developed a webtop-esque environment for the SGS2, how would you control it? The one port would already be taken up by an mhl/hdmi cable and there is no Bluetooth HID profile.
I would like to see this, have seen videos of youtube of people running windows 7 / linux environments on their smartphones such as HTC HD2 & Nexus One, saw the article of the X10i getting some linux love and wouldn't mind trying it out as well.

[Q] webtop mod running backtrack 5

So I was woundering since we have a debian and Ubuntu webtop mod running on this wounderful device if it would be possible to put BackTrack 5 on the webtop. Also the new release has an ARM build version and if bootloader ever gets unlocked if it would be possible to actually run backtrack as your standerd OS with the backtrack kernel.

Anybody have any input at all

In theory it should be possible since Backtrack is also Debian based just like Ubuntu.
In the forum for Acer Iconia A500 there is a tutorial on installing backtrack 5 in VNC which should work on the atrix as well, both having dual core 1Ghz chip and 1GB Ram but not sure if this would work in webtop.
Thank you guys, I was actually on the back track website and they said they got it working somewhat on the xoom with the ARM architechure

Linux on the gtablet

Anyone have any luck just running straight Linux, Ubuntu, whatever on the gtab? Something where the sound works and is usable/stable?

Sorry to say but for Linux being not very popular finding someone to take the time to do this is rare

Yes, sort of...
There is both the chroot solution to running linux and there is a native rom for xubuntu. Unfortunately for both of these solutions the sound isn't working. Hopefully once the guys working on the honeycomb kernel get things working we will see some ports of Linux distros.

Ubuntu touch?

Could I request a port of Ubuntu touch? I think it would rock to see that beast in action!

We are all dying to try it, but we need a Dev to take on the port.
Darn... If I had more knowledge on how to do this I would totally take a wham bam whack at it. I guess reading the forums its a branch off CM 10... I could be wrong. It did say it uses a mirrored git repo and is supported for all official cm10 devices.

My tablet has a ubunto rom i have the Acer Iconia A500, its a rough build n most things dont work...itll be cool to run somethin new
From what I've heard Ubuntu touch is basically android running Ubuntu touch on top of it, but that was the tablet version so idk about the phone version. Later versions of Ubuntu touch should be full Ubuntu base though.

Touch runs along side the android virtual machine. In about a year we should see the full Ubuntu mobile app on there own hardware running natively without an android base. The Ubuntu mobile is supoost to be one of the biggest leaps ever in terms of mobility. Its sup post to run on your phone dock with a tablet and even have the ability to use as a low end computer. In short its gonna be awesome!
