OTG while charging - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

Hi guys,
I bought the OTG adapter and opened it up.
I was wondering if based on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26283265&postcount=22
I can just supply the 5V on the 3 pins to charge the tablet while using the OTG. Has anyone done such a thing? Please see attached image.

In sensation you only can use UTG with an external power supply like you're trying to do...

How so?, the problem is that the transformer charges with 15v from what ive heard

Exactly, you need to mod a USB 3.0 cable that will be connected to the charger...

So...
I think this works.... I sodered two cables to the dongle and although I only have a 12V source right now.... When I connect it to the 12v source, I get the battery notification popup, however, I don't get the "charging (AC)" status on the battery settings. I need to find a 15V source to try it out.

What if you try an USB cable and the stock charger?

That doesn't work. The stock charger only outputs 5V unless you SEND 5V to some pin so that it switches to 15V

Anyone care to chime in for ideas as to why this does not work? The tablet "Dings" and shows the battery icon, but it does not charge.

I'm convinced this requires a kernel mod, but I have no idea on how to get started. Any tips?

I would ask that in one of the kernel threads in development, and/or PM one of the kernel developers and ask.

No. Just don't charge your N7 with the XPS charger.
And don't charge XPS with the N7 charger.
It's fine, you can mix and match, the phone will just draw what it needs. My Xperia U came with a 0.85A charger, I use my HP Touchpad 2A charger with anything that needs USB charging and it works fine.
Just dont charge sxs with n7, n7 can charge with sxs though

You can charge any device with any charger using USB ... it will max out at 5V ....

Thanks for your answers but now im more confused! So the thing it counts is the voltage not the ampere? Sorry the ignorance!
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Yes, basically you need the same voltage, all USB chargers should be 5v, as long as that is ok the phone will only draw the amount of amps it requires.
There was an topic about this.
Someone confirmed that the max loadcapacity was 1550 mA.

Long battery charging time

Hi, just wanted to ask how long does it take to charge battery on the average. My battery charging time has increase from 2 hours to 3. 5 hours. Usually I charge with about 25% left. It still takes more than 3 hours. I have had this s3 for just 2 weeks. Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much. I installed the app and I am only getting 466ma while using wall charger. Is that acceptable?

I had the same problem after jb update now after changing the usb cable its back to normal...the problem is with the defective 4 pin usb cable bundled with few of our phones...so the only solution is buy a 5 pin usb cable of some other brand( htc , ,soney, lg..) that should solve your problem.

Ain't good enough buddy. I have this kind of problem if you have read my posts on the Philippines thread but I have sorted it out already.
Anyway go look in here, you are not alone.

Just to follow it up:
Yes I can confirm that it is a cable problem. All my test were done while running the Current widget app.
Using:
My charger and my cable = 466ma
Wife's charger and her cable = 999ma
Wife's charger and my cable =466ma
My charger and wife's cable =999ma
From this i can tell that the probkem is my cable.
But I think I fixed it. I tried blowing the pins on my cable so dust would clear.
And to my surprise, I got 999ma using my charger and my cable.
Anyway thanks to all. Hope that's the end of it.

Are you using a stand-alone charger? Try connecting to a computer's USB port and see if the charging time improves?
Anther option is to try a 2-amp charger.

LG G4 charging

I have an LG G4, which came with a 1.8A output charger.
I am wondering is it okay to use another charger I have thar has a 2.1A output? As in will it damage the battery over time?
I have heard the G4 supports quick charging so I'm guessing in that case it would be okay.
Thanks in advance.
