Was out hunting today and my phone randomly shut off, when I charged it and turned it back on it wouldn't boot past boot animation, I've gotten home and tried it with OEM charger and it won't get past boot animation.
Was unlocked and running Beans v2 and I have TWRP installed.
Please help? Preferably without wiping data.
Have you tried booting into recovery and wiping cache or repairing permissions?
No, how do I do so?
edit: like how do I boot into TWRP ? I tried home + volume down + power but it booted into the download mode.

Okay I booted into it, wiped cache, dalik cache, and fixed permissions.. still can't get past boot animation... Do I really have to wipe data =/ ?
Download beans ROM again, do a full wipe and flash.

Weird, I am also running beans v2 and TWRP and I just had the exact same problem.
I haven't made any changes to my system in weeks and it has been running perfectly.
Today, it rebooted on its own and stuck on the boot animation. I restored a recent TWRP BU and it runs fine again but who knows what happened??

Help, I installed a ROM on my brothers phone awhile ago and now it wont boot at all. He pulled the battery when it wasn't booting past the splash screen, now it won't even boot to the splash screen. It was fully charged now it's as if it were completely dead. Cobra Rom on a GSM EVO.

Did you do a full wipe? (system, data, cache, dalvik) Try booting into the bootloader. (Power+volume down) If you can do that, get into recovery and wipe everything, then re-flash the ROM.
I know this sounds crazy, but try pulling the sd card out and then try to boot. Mine sometimes won't power on until the sd card is out. Then I power it back down, pull the battery, reinsert the sd, and it boots fine.

Thanks, got it working. Just pulled the battery and held the power button for a few seconds put the battery back in and it booted right up. Strange.
Are you on old version of twrp?

I had 4.0 installed and rooted for a little while now.
So I wanted to install CM10 so I followed this guide http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/cm10-jelly-bean-rom-for-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717/
I just backed up everything in CWM then install TWRP since he said you might need it, I backed up in TWRP and then I flashed cm-10-20121006-UNOFFICIAL-quincyatt.zip in TWRP restarted and now its Looping the boot animation for CyanogenMod.
I read in the thread a lot of people are having this problem but no one is giving a clear fix for it.
I can get Odin Mode by holding power and volume down, but I am not sure what to do from here?
Try booting into recovery mode (hold volume down and up then hold power) and restore your backup before doing anything with odin
Shouldn't be a problem if you wipe before flashing

When I do that I puts me into odin downloading mode. Do I have to reflash cwm?

I would ....yes
Then....you must "always " wipe caches, data , system before flashing a
New build....otherwise you'll get loops and data corruption...g
Are you sure its looping? I've had some ROMs take like ten minutes to boot. As long as you can get to recovery or download mode you can work your way back read the super thread really well and go slow good luck

When I stepped up to the 4.2 ROM I did the usual wipe and got the boot loop too.
Update to TWRP 2.4
Wipe caches
Factory reset
Flash ROM, let it settle in for a few hours, don't install anything.
Flash gapps and set up your apps
I got the 10 minute boot (I don't wait well ),anyway I went back to recovery /twrp re-wiped installed again and now on (no 2/flapps. Nightly) ,Go where ya want but I would advise against rootgalaxy for future use ,stick with xda ,tons to learn right here

Yeah, after manually retrieving your recovery, wipe it properly (wipe partition, dalvik cache, mount and storage-> format system, and factory reset), and reflash your rom.
Paulster69,
Just curious to find out if you were able to get your issue resolved? I see where you posted yesterday morning, but hadn't posted back since.
So last night I rooted my phone using the All in one toolkit. Flashed hyperdrive rom and after getting everything setup I went to bed.
Some apps were kind of freezing this morning so I tried to boot into recovery and it wouldn't let me. It shows the loading recovery at the top then it just boots my phone up. The only way I can get into Recovery atm is by using the all in one toolkit. Anyone had this issue before? I wipe cache, dalvik, and fixed permissions. Still can't boot into recovery without the toolkit.
if you can get into recovery by typing adb reboot recovery in cmd then maybe your finger may be slipping when holing the buttons to boot into recovery.

Hold power + volume up, right when you feel it vibrate, let go of the power.
Yeah I tried all that. I ended up having to wipe everything and flash my first back up when i rooted my phone.... Thanks for the help thought.
I have the same issue. Stock, rooted, TWRP... I can use adb reboot recovery, but using the hardware buttons doesn't work. Any help is appreciated!
My phone recently have gone into a boot loop, so I booted it into recovery and wiped it in order to reflash. But then, when I updated the TWRP recovery to the latest version, the phone stopped bootin into it. Now only the fastboot mode works, and when I try to boot into recovery, it just reboots. I am trying the twrp-3.1.1-0-kenzo on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. How do I make it work?
When u flashed new recovery did you try booting it using key combo before booting to system

Of course. That's when it just flashes the red light indicator and reboots. In fact, there is no "system" to boot into, as I wiped it clean before reflashing the recovery.

Why did you flash a newer version of TWRP, instead of a rom? Reflash the working twrp which was working before you wiped in order to reflash.

I don't remember which version it was. I think, it was something 2.x.x, and I can't find anything earlier than 3.0.2 anywhere. 3.0.2-0-kenzo also does not work for me.
bro,Install twrp by this method.

I just switched my phone on, and it booted into TWRP recovery that I installed eralier! But all the storage partitions were showing zero size, so I reformatted them and selected "reboot into recovery" option. But it did not boot into recovery, and now it is stuck on the "MI" logo and the "Volume Up + Power" key combo only makes it reboot, just like before. How do I boot into recovery?
I figured it out. The whole deal was about dead battery which caused the device to fail to boot even the recovery, even when charging. It charged up a bit, and I sucsessfully flashed the phone.
