[Q] How to overclock FW 4.0.26 on Gen9 ? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
the last rooted ROM at the moment is 4.0.26 which surdru_petru rooted for us, thanks !
Unfortunately surdru_petru had to change his device
He also left a 3.0.21+ overclocked kernel which was needed for 4.0.25.
1. Can I use this kernel also for the 4.0.26 without loosing improvements done by Archos on 4.0.26 ?
I have a Archos 80 G9 with a OMAP4460 ES1.1 on 1.2 GHz default clock.
Can anybody give me detailed hints how to do a overclock myself (nevertheless which Archos ROM to be used) ?
I read aboud a thread win tun.ko . Maybe it's the same way sudru_petru did the overclocking ...
2. Can I extract kun.to file(s) from sudru_petru kernel 3.0.21+ and copy it to my 4.0.26 (or maybe also later roms) ?
I also read about a possibility to patch configuration parameters of the Archos in order to do set permanent max. clock rate (e.g.1.5GHz for my device)
3. Did anybody this patching for a Archos 80 G9 with OMAP4460 ES1.1 ? Which adresses to be patched with what value ?
Thanks for reading and maybe some helpful comments
Cheers

The over clocking is applied to kernel on the source, so you can't just simply patch it to ROM.
As far as I know, 3.0.21 over clock kernel should work on 4.0.26. All the changes that are on the system will be kept, but you lose kernel changes. I believe most of the changes are on system, and will stay because of it.
Tun.Ko is a module required by vpns, like openvpn.
"The tun.ko file is a device driver(module) that provides packet reception and transmission for user space programs." Source: http://droidvpn.com/page/what-is-the-use-of-tunko-1/
In over clock kernel you can rise your clock speed, but it won't be permanent. I haven't heard of a patch like that.

In the first link, it has overclock kernel with tun.ko support, but not overclocking by using tun.ko.
The second link might work, but I would personally prefer the kernel method. But it is your choice if you want to "fake" your device.

I have a device which is from hardware point of view the same as the 1,5GHz turbo version.
The nicest thin to do would be setting the flag(s) from a 1,2 GHz to a 1,5GHz model so I don't have to care about OC versions anymore.
Just need a rooted ROM ...
So it seems that anybody would share their experience concerning the second link ?

overclocked 4.0.26 with tag file
With the kind support of scholbert I have now oc my Archos 80 G9 OMAP 4460 ES1.1 8GB flash 512MB RAM from 1,2GHz to 1,5GHz by just setting a flag in the tag file.
The detailed description to be found in

But beware !
You may brick your device permanentely !

ad undervolt support to custom kernel?

Hi devs,I have a problem,i have a huawei u8650 and a custom kernel with overclock support, the normal frequency is 250-600 mhz but when i overclock it ,for example to 768 mhz,the camera starts to give some problems, some black lines appears in the screen and the pictures taken have those lines too.
I think that maybe the problem is the voltage, i ve downloaded some apps from the market to change voltage values but they tell me that my kernel doesnt support undervolt or overvolt,so i need help to ad that posibility to my kernel.
or give me please some posible reasons why camera act different when doing overclock?
i have descompressed de boot.img and have the boot.img-ramdik folder and zimage inside a .zip atacched if some of you could help me.
thanks i advance.
no body?please i need to solve this problem.
the github to the kernel is this https://github.com/supertoast/kernel-2.6.35-series-U8650-U8510-M865-Gingerbread

Overclock?

Hi all,
So far, I am able to build a kernel from source for working on Dell Venue. As I notice, the JW rom has performed some overclocking tricks to reach a CPU frequency greater than 998MHz.
I would like to ask, how would we overclock for Dell Venue in our kernel? I tried to set min/max frequency for CPU manually, but no effect (the kernel documentation also shows that, Sysfs can override such change).
Please help!
OK, now I got the answer and know where to patch.
BTW, my topic was moved to General, it might not a suitable place since I am asking about kernel tweaks for performance, not using apps.
So r u building a new rom? might be ics 4??

[TUTORIAL]How to overclock

TUTORIAL
How to overclock my device?
What do we need?
-Android device
-Kernel wich supports OC or UC (Stock kernel can be used for UC)
-App to manage CPU speeds
I have all of these what do i do now?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxNFz_ad3Us&feature=youtu.be
Follow that tutorial i made for you guys it shows some of the OC.
Kernels i reccomend.
XSX kernel(Stable and fast has some things others don't have.)
SSspeed kernel(Made for pure speed is most of the time stable and gives good benchmark scores!)
Pure ics kernel-for cm9/cm10(this kernel is the same as SSspeed but it's for CM.)
FAQ
Q-can this damage my device?
A-yes if you use too high speeds
Q-do i need root acces?
A-yes
Q-how to get those govenors?
A-if your kernel does not have them ask your kernel maker to put them in
Q-my device keeps rebooting when overclocking to high speeds
A-this means it is not stable try a bit lower
Q-my device gets hot!
A-turn it off before you damage your hardware
If you have questions ask them bellow or PM me
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DEVICE IF YOU DAMAGE IT IT IS YOUR PROBLEM

[Kernel]GPU Overclock!

I just found a way to overclock the GPU on all xperias. Need some testers, but remember, it might damage your device!
I will releasing here test kernels for X8, but these MIGHT DAMAGE your devices, so you flashing on your own.

I compiled the first version, but have probably a bad ramdisk, not even the logo shows up and gets into bootloop.
I need nAa-jb-06 ramdisk. @nobodyAtall Can you share it with me ?
Thanks.
1. We need a "little bit" more information about this project
2. The kernel is GPL protected, need the source (to identify what is your work and who worked with the kernel earlier)
3. The "original development" section need at least one idea what not exists on this device.
4. The "GPU overclock": with the msm7x27 SoC, the GPU clock is LOCKED, always run on the axi bus speed, you can't set it separately. You can set the GPU speed if you play with the axi bus speed in the acpuclock.c, but this is not a new idea.
5. The overclock of the GPU in our msm7227 SoC is theoretically unusable, because our adreno200 is cpu limited in most case. Just check the same gpu in the qsd8250, and you can see, with more powerful cpu this gpu can perform much better (on same clock)
This is NOT an offense, I just point to some thing before tons of idiot questions arrived about the project.
So, better if you correct the opening post and give the required informations, and folloew the forum rules (before you get a warning from a moderator, for example: due the missing sources)
PS.: you can cut the ramdisk from the precompiled nAa-06 kernel. I you have the knowledge to make new gpu overclock method, this is easy work...
PS.2.: Okay, just find the lz4 header in the kernel.sin, and delete everything before this and you can get the original nAa-06 ramdisk
Last note: maybe I wrote incorrect informations, the more experienced members/developers can correct it.
EDIT: the to overclock the gpu on all xperias is nonsence, because the xperia family have different gpus. (the most is adreno powered, but the phones with novathor SoC have Mali 400MP, or the xperia C have PowerVRSGX544)
I don't understand this kind of thread , first test then post it and do a favor for all do not create it in original DEV section this is not belong here .
Thanks whore?

I don't knew that. Sorry
Topic to remove.
Yet again this highlights the fragmentation of development here.
@op - I you had performed a search or even browsed here a little you would seen active kernel development.
You unwillingness to ask to join such a group of guys or even just post in their threads to contribute leads me to thinking you're a glory hunter.
And then when you ask nAa to just send you his ramdisk I honestly nearly wet myself.
Thanks for the laugh chap - I'm even gonna thank you for it

WiFi not working when flashed on Paranoid Android 4.6(Beta 5)
Hello, I have flashed this kernel over Paranoid Android's Fresh installation but as I try to turn on wifi,it keeps displaying that 'wifi is turning on' and it keeps displaying like forever, I have even tried wiping data, cache and dalvik cache after flashing but the problem is still persisting,
I request you to please suggest me what should I do to make this kernel work.
thank you

Would like to help test this build, but I'm pretty new to smartphones in general
I managed to install CM11 via step-by-step instructions, but that's about it.
Would you recommend against doing something as advanced as custom kernels at that early stage of learning?
If you think it's not too difficult to pull off, I'd be grateful for instructions.

If u like experimenting, go on and do it. XD to flash the kernel just do a backup of boot.img in TWRP recovery, then flash the kernel, if you dont like it, just restore the boot.img. Its easy. Im new to all this too
trickster mod gpu governor

same here, in trickster mod only few options avaible, like dt2w and sound control....
So eager to overclock moto e GPU and RAM
[KERNEL 3.4.104][CM] ALPHA Kernel 0.7 update[nov 17-2014]
(use Trickster mod kernel to avail some of the features)
-Intelli Hotplug v3.8 (for better battery perf)
-Intelli Thermal v2 thermal manager.
-Ram OC to 400mhz from 333mhz
-gpu OC to 433mhz from 400 mhz
[/B][/U]-cpu underclock upto 91mhz (good battery life)
-Sound control 3.4
How to get that RAM and GPU frequency? Is it overclocked by default in this kernel or should we manually do it if so how?
I can't post the issue in the latest thread since I am a junior member. Here nobody answers the question. Really sad. Please take this post to the main thread...

Try to increase post count to 10 by helping others i the General and Q&A sections....
Once you've got 10 counts under your belt, you'll be promoted to Member and you can post in the development threads...
BTW, don't remember the magical no. is 10 or 25...
Check the warning message during posting and you'll know... :good:

Trickster mod has the option to OC.
I don't remember exactly, but its a value on the scale of percentage. (100 being default). You need to change it in steps (usually by 1).
Google how to use trickster mod. Or try any other GUI based CPU app. Most apps support CPU OC if the kernel supports it.
Ps: Its been long since I used Trickster mod and OC'd. So it might be a lil different than I remember.
Also, to enable OC, you might have to disable Battery Saver.
This section went out of my sight , i will check it regularly from here on :good::good::good:
I downloaded the latest trickstermod and installed. Checked the tutorial too. In tutorial I saw the overclocking slider and stuff. But with this kernel I couldn't see any option like that in trickstermod. Its been said that we can underclock RAM frequency too in the kernel features. GPU tweaking is also another feature of this kernel. But I am unable to use these options with trickstermod. Can this be done with any other app supporting this kernel?
If so pls help me out with app link and screenshots.
Thanks a lot for your response...waiting to overclock...

Digital TV does not work, so I installed this kernel I lost root access , I did the flash SuperSu.zip again , but still no root access ..: c
i suppose , the root problems arent occuring anymore
