Cannot UNLOCK via HTC-DEV - HTC Droid DNA

I keep getting this error code.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed
it sounds like HTC blocked the DNA unlocking for now
Any ideas?
the jcase exploit still requires htc-dev which is unavailable anymore.

Are you choosing "other devices" when going through the unlock process? If you choose DNA, it will not work.

The jcase exploit gets around the block. That's what the exploit is for...

Yes, I am choosing "other devices". I tried over and over again. Keep getting the error message.

so you are saying do the jcase exploit and then it will work? are you sure? because I have seen people do it using only htc-dev
the reason why i didn't want to try the exploit is because it looks a little risky.

You have to do jcases method before htc dev unlock. That's the only way it will work. Our device isn't supported through htc dev unlock, hence why it's saying that your MID is unsupported. Using jcases method we change our phones MID so that we can use htc's unlock method.

HTC dev unlock only worked before the phone was released. A day or 2 prior to release Verizon pulled the plug on it.
The jcase exploit is what allows us to unlock our phone.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app

Like others said Verizon pulled the DNA but they let people who had the phone before hand because most had s-off anyways.....the exploit spoofs your cid to trick HTC dev into letting.you unlock

I need some more info about the HTC Dev unlock. If we go through this route, we get an unlocked boot loader, but not S-OFF right?

It's posted on this site somewhere too. I haven't used it, but I sure will if the option for S-OFF becomes more than just a placeholder.

Have not tried it but looks interesting...
Does anyone know if this will "void your warranty" like the htc method does? Or does the bootloader still show locked when you re-lock it?

It appears that it utilizes the HTCDev method so I would say probably.

S-OFF for the EVO 4G LTE!

JuopunutBear and team have done it again. S-OFF for the EVO 4G LTE!
Root is required. Unlocked is NOT required... but supported! Support for Linux and Windows.

Cool.
Looks promising although since I've already unlocked via HTC dev what's the advantage of s off..as I understand we can already flash radios etc..also it requires root..how is that possible if u didn't unlock with HTC dev
I'm rooted but not unlocked with HTCdev. They are 2 different things.

why would i want to pay for insurance? my phone is covered under 1 year warranty. i change phones every year anyways. i never buy warranty for anything
So does this essentially unlock the bootloader and give s-off?
So can I run this with an unrooted phone? I was reading the pre requisite and said you needed to be rooted/temp, which doesn't that mean htcdev unlocked?
I want to avoid htcdev unlock...

Its basically what every has already done except your phone will say S-off instead of S-on....no additional features. U can do everything u were able to do before.

Cool. Once someone has a write up or script to relock, unroot, unlock again with s-off and reroot so i don't get that red text on boot let me know. That would be the only reason i care about this.
Hopefully the devs didn't waste a good exploit that could have been used on a phone that needed it.

returning to stock

I got a droid dna recently and I was thinking about rooting. The only thing that is holding me back is whether despite the lack of s-off, is it worth voiding warranty. Anyhow, I was wondering whether it is possible to bring the dna completely back to stock after rooting it just in case something goes wrong (Im planning on using the all in one tool kit for the root)
I believe it will still say relocked as opposed to locked.
And there's a toolkit for jcases method?

So basically if i were to send this thing in for warranty, there is a high probability they wont notice the "relock"? Hmmm i might root it then

Hansoons tool kit doesnt work unless you use jcase's method first which you cant undo..leaves dna showing unlocked forever is what i have read ..if not i would root tomorrow...just waiting for a little safer unlock or s-off..

The change isn't permanent as far as I know. You should be able to re-lock it with fastboot oem lock.

Root possible without unlock or s-off?

Is it? I'm not into using htcdev and I'm on hboot 1.9. I'd like to just have root access with having to flash anything. Possible?

Why on earth would you not want S-OFF???
It makes everything easier, I think its redundant to make anything available to the people that are s-on or at least to the people that choose to be s-on
Get DirtyRacun S-OFF then you'll be headache free

On the contrary, I'd love to be s-off, I simply choose not to use the htcdev route. I was s-off before my mini sd port took a crap and I had to swap. Sadly I now have hboot 1.19 and can no longer use panda.
So my thinking was if I can at least get root until a method to s-off doesn't involve using htcdev comes along, I'd be happy.

You can't flash a custom recovery without unlocking your bootloader and part of the S-OFF process requires you to unlock your bootloader using htcdev
I'm just going to assume the answer is no since everyone seems to be dancing around it. Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that almost every question I ask on this site turns into a debate rather than someone simply saying yes or no.

(Q) HTC Dev bootlaoder unlock

Does the HTC Dev boot loader unlock work on the newest OTA?

No

How to tell if DNA has the OTA update?
Thinking of purchasing a used DNA (coming from a Gnex), and getting very intimidated by all the threads on rooting.
Looks like Moonshine is where it's at for this phone, but can someone tell me how where to look to see if the phone has
the OTA update already? A screenshot would be greatly appreciated but I'll take what I can get.

Doesn't Moonshine require the bootloader be unlocked before it will work? I just bought a used DNA and it has the latest OTA, so I seem to be at an impasse. Any help with where to go from here would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I'm not using Sense so no screenshot, but go to settings and at the bottom look for "About Phone" and one of the numbers should be 2.06...
Most likely the updates will automatically give you a popup when found, or you can manually check for updates.

Moonshine will S-Off and unlock your bootloader all in one snap. I recommend factory resetting the phone before attempting to rule out any issues. It will work, I've moonshined 8 different htc devices and all worked 100% without issue.
