Horrible battery drain - HTC EVO 3D

I seriously just dropped 10% in 10 minutes while only on Wi-Fi, lowest brightness, no GPS, BT, or sync. I'm on jbear 1.57.5757 Hboot, s-OFF, JMZ STOCK ODEXED ROM and buttered toast 14.3 kernel. Max CPU freq 1566 MHz, lowest 300~. I also undervolted. What could be causing this HORRIBLY AWFUL battery drain? I'm seriously considering taking this phone back if I can't get this worked out. I appreciate any help, guys, thanks

What governor did you pick when you flashed Buttered Toast? Also, try lowering your Max CPU.

I think it's time to change to another rom.
Check out my battery report using Yoda's rom v7.5 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36333382&postcount=869
The average Battery dropping rate is 1h = less than 1%
It can last 4d 0h 15m and the remaining battery is 12%

disable location tracking in google maps, disable gpu rendering. This will increase battery life.
Disable google now, if u don't use it.

SmartassV2 as well as some of the other included govenors in several of the custom kernels are not optimized or work very well on ICS.

Check this out it may help you choose the correct ROM that includes performance and batterylife!

I think most of the posts here are looking for simple tweaks to improve battery life, but it ignores the fact that something is seriously wrong.
I just flashed Gangnam with ButteredToast and the battery life drains about a percent per minute doing nothing. Flashed back to my old ROM and it was fine. Going to try Gangnam with stock kernel and see if it improves.

I think buttered toast is the problem.

Hello everyone, I didnt want to open a new thread so I picked this one up.
What is this? I bought the device in 2012 and the battery has lost 700 mAh capacity? How are your batteries performing? I know the information delivered by this app is not very reliable but I cant get the phone through a normal day anymore.

My suggestion
Maybe it is not just software error. Maybe your battery is damaged. Try to flash new AOSP rom with good kernel and see what will happen.

I bought mine in July 2011 and my battery quit lasting a day after about a year and a half. So I got an extended battery from Amazon and it lasted two to three days.

Oxygen rom issue

Alright so here's my issue. When I run stock rom I can see my battery drain. Pretty normal right. Well when I use oxygen rom it takes a really long time for my battery drop a percentage to the point where if I leave it idle for a few hours it drops 1 maybe 2 when stock and miui dropped 6 or 7.
My question. Is anybody else experiencing this issue (battery saving feature) and/or if you know why I'm getting this.
Sent from my rooted Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
You sure you're not just getting significantly better battery life? I doubled mine moving from stock rom stock kernel to Oxygen 2.2.2 and Netarchy 1.3.7 CFS.
That's what I was assuming but you can't ever be to sure without hearing others experiences. It went from lasting a day maybe a little less to doubling at the rate the battery was decreasing. I just didn't want to be out and about and have it die saying I have 65% left.

There's no issue, oxygen just gives good battery life
Thanks. This is what I wanted to hear. Along with the other guys post. It made me more comfortable running it and not worrying

smartass vs ondemand?

What do you guys think is better smartassv2 or ondemand? I usually use smartassv2 but im not sure with the rezound.
I'm using ondemand and its been perfect for me. no rebooted and great battery life.
I flashed incredikernel 6 the day it was released weeks ago.
I use on-demand, I have not had a single reboot/bootloop etc yet & the battery life is super.
I use on demand with the stock Kernel (using cleanrom 3.5). I drop the cpu down to about 1.ghz and set a profile for on demand between 192 and 760 something when the screen is off. I only dropped about 3 percent a few nights ago while sleeping (6.5 hours roughly). (the phone doesn't go into sleep mode and I dont have a battery saver). I don't get that with my heavy usage, but that is a big plus.
Where do you guys get the download for ondemand? Back in the day when I had the OG Droid, everyone used SetCPU. Doesn't seem to be the app of choice any more to set frequencies. I can't find ondemand (or smartass for that matter) in the market. ANy suggestions?
I had been using ondemand up until a few days ago. The last couple days I have been using interactive, and it seems like both battery life and performance are somewhat better, although I have no hard numbers to support this, and I have really random usage.

They're features on the kernel. When you install the kernel you'll be able to check which one you wanna use from the app. (SetCPU may be good, but it seems the apps of choice on the Rezound are AnTuTu or Systems Tuner Pro, I use AnTuTU.)
Or if you use incredikernel the app incredicontrol goes along with it perfectly and is 100% totally stable for me. I have tried every kernel there is both GB and ICS on my phone and incredikernel and the stock kernel are the only ones that will run stability test scaling stability test all night long without bootlooping.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am just sticking with the stock Kernal for now, but I was interested in undervolting the kernal while it's in sleep mode and while charging to see if I can save battery life. I just tried SetCPU, but was not pleased with the constant SU pop ups. It was keeping my screen awake. I think I'll five AnTuTu a shot.
If I ever load a custom kernal, I'll know what to keep an eye out for.
I have completely given up on undervolting at this point, I never once saw a noticeable increase in battery life but I definitely ended up with a less stable phone.........

What we need are more custom kernels.
I have undervolted (Incredikernel with Incredicontrol) and it's quite stable and the battery life is pretty good. I can get 12 - 16 hours with the stock battery with medium usage (texting, browsing).
Interstingly, it was 10 - 12 with OnDemand. Interactive seems to be better.

Have you ever tried leaving all the settings exactly the same and NOT undervolting??
I would be willing to bet the battery life would be almost identical.
CPU Tuner is awesome also. Might be the best.

Actually, yes. It did make a difference. Not as significant as on the Incredible, although that may be a difference in HAVS vs SVS.
But what works for one may not work for all.

SGA-5830 - Miracle V3 - Pure Motive Mod -Ace Kernel beta 3.1

A combination that works for me - Miracle V3 ROM with the PureMotive battery mod and beta3.1 Ace Kernel. Thus far, almost 24 hours, no force closes, battery life much improved, stable at 844 oc, smartassV2 gov. Phone is not getting as heated as previously while playing any 3D game, it just feels faster and smoother...response time awaking from deep sleep is smooth, so many things seem to be functioning better.
Those who believe the improvement in battery life to be a placebo effect, I do not believe that to be the case. I could very rarely go past 6-7 hours without dropping to 10% power left. With this combination, I have gone more than 16 hours and still 40% power left to go.
I have tried so many roms and mods and they all worked really well, but most really did not improve battery life by more than a couple of hours. The battery mod really worked with the Miracle ROM (any CM7 I guess) and the beta-3 ace kernel also seems to be adding on to making the ace smooth, lag free even when underclocked to 424 max and 122 min, Smartass V2 and nook as default...in call profile 787 max 244 min.
Love and respect to all the Devs and all who mod and improve the creations...thank you so much and keep up the great work.

Continuing to note the extension in battery life. Go Power Master is further adding to battery life in super-saver mode. In the nine months that I have had the ace, the max battery life I ever got was 12 hours on one occasion, that too only because I was not able to use wi-fi because the wi-fi modem had issues and could not be used. Today's snapshots are decisive. With Go Power Master, one full charge has lasted 20 hours and there is still 30% of the battery to be used.
Which one did you use?
One with semi colon or without?

Skyraider battery issues

Since I got this phone in may last year, I haven't had horrible battery life, but it wasn't good either.
So, I rooted my phone and put off getting a ROM until I started having the dreaded reboot issue. I was on stock froyo of all things.
Now, I'm on skyraider. But my battery life is worse...much worse. I'm having trouble understanding why. I have less programs running in the background than ever. I think this thing underclocks too, right? In the skyraider settings it has a min and max setting. The max is 1ghz and the min is like 300 ish mhz.
The only other thing I can think to mention is my radio. I was apparantly on a radio that works with both froyo and gingerbread. I was consufed by how I flashed a GB rom from froyo and I still had a connection and all that. But anyway, perhaps this radio is inefficent?
Maybe there's some other idiot check thing I've missed. I always turn off features that I'm not using like gps and the like. I also use minimal brightness and don't run any live wallpapers. I'm using stock wall papers and skins.
I have not yet done a battery calibration. I plan to when I get some time...but does it *really* make a difference of hours to my battery's lifespan?
Man, I need a rezound battery...
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt
Do the calibration. Sometimes you have o do it between Rom flashes but its worth it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Lessen the number and frequency of apps that update (sync) in the background: email, fb, weather, etc. And, trying using the wifi when stationery, lower screen brightness.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Skyraider is very stock-like, no performance kernel included (uses stock HTC), etc, etc so it should get equal battery life as stock does. The benefit of SR is the "LTE Auto On/Off" option it has. That can make a HUGE difference ! Be sure to enable it - it's not enabled by default.
Try the IMO 5.1 kernel

[Q] Best ROM for battery?

I haven't been using stock ROMs for a while, and am now currently on AOKP JB, which is awesome. But I've recently had the need to be out of the house for an extended period of time, and i really need a ROM with good battery life.
So quick question, which GSM (or CDMA with GSM-patch) ROM gives the best battery life? I'm more inclined to think stock, and I've read that 676.226.3.en.EU gives really decent battery life. Or is there a better alternative?

Ive been using the simplex rom it has overclock and underclock scripts built in I have been on it for a few days and got 5hrs of screen on and 19hrs of power overclocked with 25% battery still left. Currently I am running underclocked to 1.0 GHZ to see how long Battery will last and sitting at 13hrs on battery and 4.5hrs screen on time and have 44% battery I think I'm doing well!!! No bugs yet either!!
SimpleX is for CDMA right? My bad, I should have specified that I was using a GSM phone.
