Bluetooth reverse tethering.... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any one help me with the any method for Bluetooth reverse tethering.......
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium

I'm also interested in having my Android use my Mac's (Snow Leopard) Wi-Fi connection over Bluetooth reverse tethering.
I've followed all of the instructions I've found and spent hours on it but still not yet able to get it to work...in fact it crashed my Mac's BT at one point and I had to delete the plist file and restart in order to recover it.
Surely someone here has gotten this to work successfully already using an easy method! I'm even fine not having Play Store when connected via this method...

Need help tether BB using pdanet (bluetooth)

Has anyone been able to successfully able to tether their bb using pdanet (bluetooth) with the g tab and could please either point me to the right thread or tell me how this can be done.
Thanks
Tethering
I looked for a similar tethering question for some time. Unfortunately there isn't any software to be found that runs on android that points the net connection out to another device (like PDAnet). PDA assumes the Android device is the 3g/4g server not the client.
I was not able to find a workable method for this.
Sorry but thought I would share.
PDA Net
PDA Net now has a beta version of the software for use with tablets. I tried it on my gtab (running Calkulins ROM) and it was able to identify and pair with my Droid via bluetooth, however I couldn't get the tablet to connect to the internet through the connection. Anyone have any success with this?
It takes several tries before I can get it to connect, pairing is no problem. However once it does connect what's odd is that the connection only works thru the stock web browser, it will not work on any other browser nor the market. Strange.
I believe the beta 2 release of pdanet tablet will have the ability to tether with a bb.

Connect to ad-hoc wifi

Hi guys, long story short, I really need to connect to my desktop via ad-hoc, since where I am at I don't have a router. I need to get my phone and pc connected so I can use the various remotes on my vibrant...
Would this mod work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961
, if not, is there a solution?
I am using bionix 1.3.2 test.
Thanks!!!

I've tried to do this before with no successes. The research I did lead me to the conclusion that our phone is unable to recognize an ad-hoc network. I would be delighted if someone is able to get it working though

Android does not support it normally, but I use this patch on both my g1 and vibrant and have no issues with it. Works fine ( I use it along with barnacle to get both phones online using only 1 sim card and tethering).

If your using windows 7, then you can use the connectify me technique: http://www.connectify.me/
It shares your internet connection without having to rely on an adhoc network.
or if you don't have windows 7, (this might not be useful for your application), but you can share your computers internet connection using the USB tether on your phone (some call it reverse tethering): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793102
Of course I dont know how useful this would be as you'd be wired via USB, but I thought I'd mention it.

How to Bluetooth Tether to a Stock Photon

Hello, swapped a NS4G 2 days ago for the Photon and got it to work with my HP WM7 laptop without an app or paid subscription. Posted the following for someone at androidcentral and thought it might help...
"No additional drivers installed. If you're not familiar with tethering click 'help' in setting/tethering mobile hotspot for directions - you will initiate pairing via the Photon and after paired phone will say 'paired but not connected' and computer will show 'stereo audio paired'. Withing the BT manager on you computer click your phone settings, find 'networking' / 'access an external network via a BT gateway' and click connect - should be good to go. Instructions are for WM7, not sure about other OS"
He said it works fine for him with XP as well. No-go thus far with any HotSpot attempt although I hear PDAnet will work, and no-go on a Streak 7 via BT(claims a rooted Streak might work, but had no luck on a Streak 5). Haven't tried a USB connection but believe it will work fine for WM7 and XP. I understand there's a 'mod' for the EVO3D to use HotSpot without root or subscription and will explore unless someone else here can shed some light.
Note: if you plan on using this 24/7 Sprint may have something to say about it, but as best as I can tell - no issues with moderate use.

[Q] Tether internet from Computer out through Phones Wifi

I have searched the forums and google for an answer to this but haven't been able to find anything.
What I'm trying to do is use my computers internet for my phone, and then broadcast it out. I've downloaded and used successfully the xda Android Reverse Tethering .exe and it's worked wonderfully. But the thing is I want to be able to use it in conjuction with a wifi tether app from my Samsung Galaxy S. My phone is rooted.
The purpose of this is to get internet connection on my PSP Vita. All of the internet in my house is wired, I don't own a wifi router nor do I want one. I live in a building where finding wifi passwords is easy for everyone as we all have the same general field of work, but no one near me has wifi.
What I've tried so far is using the xda Reverser Tether program with Barnacle Wifi Tether, Open Garden WiFi, and WiFi Tether. All apps I've downloaded from the marketplace. They work well at broadcasting my cell signal for use as Wifi, but none of them have been able to use the internet being sent from my phone.
In short what I'm looking for, or even if it exists, is a way to transfer my hard wired internet through my computer to my phone and subsequently the cellphones ability to act as a Wifi router.
Check my signature
Edit: *bump* I have removed it
check my threads
That looks close, but how could I use that, and then have my phone broadcast my internets computer through it's Wifi?
Hi ,
Use virtual router software in your pc and turn on pc and phones wifi.and connect to pcs wifi connection.if you have confusion try virtual router in google. i got succeeded in this but i dont have any link to give you.
If i helped press thanks.
This sounds like something that might do it. I have it downloaded but it's not doing anything. What were the steps you got to make it work for you?
Well, I was able to get it to work using redankaiahu's advice. The only thing is I had to go out and buy a usb-wifi adapter instead of using my phone like I would've liked. Oh well.
I know this really doesn't belong here, but did u know that if u get a router, u can actually change the frequency channel on it? Which means , no ones pc will pickup on the channel unless they adjust from their own pc's and know what channel u changed to.

[Q] How to connect Android to PC in Handsfree mode

In short what I'm looking for is instructions to be able to connect my HTC One X to my PC (windows 7 Home Edition) via Bluetooth and be able to use my PC's mic to talk and my PC's speakers to listen to the call.
In other words, I want my PC to act as a car's handsfree system.
It seems possible from the googling I have done.
Many articles tells you to connect your phone via BT and choose "Handsfree" as the service. However, when I connect my HOX the only service I get is a network connection (to tether my internet connection).
Any ideas ppl?
Thanks in advance
Yes, there should be no problem. Actually the only problem u may have is the backfeeds between both mics. The one on the phone and the one on the pc. There is an option in the volume controls that u have to cancel put so that wont happen. The option is what i dont remember, since i haven't messed with it in a long time.
