Is there an app that allows to turn off lets say 2 or 3 cores when you need to save on battery life?

Your CPU governor should normally take care of this automagically.
You could try to change the setting to something more 'conservative' at least, if your phone is rooted

I may have this wrong but I have read in earlier posts that the power managment on the tegra 2 is only set to work with the perfomace governor. It was tried with the power save governor but that had no effect and was actually more power hungry. I will try to find those refrences when I finish work.

thx!
Tegra 2 has a built in hardware governor which is pretty good so there is no need to install software governors, in fact, installing a governor other than performance will impede performance and/or battery life by interfering with the on chip governor.
I believe the Tegra 2 drivers control the CPU speed. It overrides the governor. Performance and powersave are the simplest governors.

In was just looking into this. I'm on neutrino, and no matter what kernel I seem to have, my CPU is locked to the max frequency. My battery life has been brutal and the phone gets too hot even after sending an email!
What is wrong?
Sorry for the ETA, and but I should be more clear..
When I open setcpu or antutu cpu master, and both report the highest selected cpu frequency constantly no matter what the conditions are.
Is the fact that I'm running a java application to control max frequency interfering with tegra 2's governor? Although I've see screen shots of atrix users in setcpu with the freq being not-the-max-freq.
Thanks for any help!
Note: I only ever have one over clock app installed at a time.

Nevermind. Just installed milestone 6 and it's working fine.

Anyone have any idea if the S4 Property has been overclocked on other devices (Nexus 4).
What frequency do you want to see the DNA pushed to?
P.S. This phone doesn't need it but why not, right?

I used to push other processors, but I wouldn't even touch the processor inside this thing. Not even a thought in my head to overclock it. Even when I root it and flash another rom, I wouldn't touch the processor speed on this thing. Heck if I can underclock it to 1.2ghz and save battery life even more I would do that, lol
Agreed that it doesn't need it. But I'm curious what the limits of this prossesor are.

Well usually with the ability to overcllock comes underclocking and profiles which is good maximize performance and battery which is always good

About the new battery saver function, when you have cpu effect turned on, so it will operate at 1.3ghz. Will it automatically overclock when needed, or does it stay locked at 1.3ghz? If it wont overclock, a fix would be nice.

Honestly I can't even make this phone lagg on the battery saver I wouldn't worry about it

Is there an app that will auto-switch your governor/min-max freq, say when the battery drops below a certain level or when you are plugged into power?

Yes there is! I would recommend taking a look at the app SetCPU https://play.google.com/store/apps/...rce=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=setcpu. I have used SetCPU since my Droid 1 was my main phone to do exactly what your looking for (I.E screen of minimum frequency, charging set a particular governor, less then 20% battery powersave governor, etc.). Let me know if you still have questions.

Most excellent! I'll take a peek.
EDIT: Well that is just the bee's knees! Great app! I also found SetXperia which does a few of the same things (not nearly as much) but also allows me to undervolt. The two in combo look ideal. Thanks again!
Hi i have one question with which kernel does the Viper Rom work cooler with speedykernel or elitekernel?

Why don't you try both and then see which one is better for you? Just use powersaver mode when doing heavy cpu load tasks (for example gaming) or set a lower cpu frequency cap. Tegra3 will always get hot under heavy load. the only thing you can do is cap cpu frequency/cores and/or undervolting (but i doubt undervolt will help as much as lower frequency cap).
