Music skipping with screen off - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently I'm running Foxhound ROM 1.7 with JKay framework 14.6. I've just noticed that when the screen turns off, music playback will start skipping. Happens with any music player, and only when the screen is off.
Any ideas on why and how to fix? It's driving me nuts!

If you're sure no buttons are being pressed that could skip the track's, then try a full wipe > reflash the rom on it's own.then if the music player works normally, you know its not rom related and it must be related to the JKay framework .

The phone is rapid, but the home button isn't? :(

Is there a way to make the home button respond instantly?
Does anyone else have this problem?

It has something to do with the Voice control samsung built into the phone, people were saying you can freeze/ delete the app and your home button will be instant, i can personally vouch for this because I'm using CM7, a rom that doesn't have the voice control and my home button actually is instant.
it something to do with the processor and power management.
The delay is present in CM too but not as bad

I thought that had to do with the wakeup "lag" i.e. just waking the phone up from sleep, if you are talking about that yes its present in CM as well. I thought he was asking about home button when exiting out of apps and such, as i noticed a slight delay in that when i was using the stock rom.
I've froze voice commands with Bloat Freezer and this hasn't made any difference :/
Since KG1 firmware, home button lag has been solved. Home button acts normal now.
The OP hasn't explained what his problem actually is, so there's no point telling him to freeze apps!
@jameslfc5
Do you mean it takes a couple of seconds when the screen is off and you wake the phone with the home button, or do you mean it pauses when you're running an app and you press home to go back to your home screen?

It responds instantly when connected to a charger. So it must be software related. I haven't found any 2.3.3. or 2.3.4 ROMs that remove the lag entirely. I'm sure someone will figure it out though.
When connected to charger the phone does not sleep. So no lag.
I have same problem as OP.
Note - it's not the wake-up delay, which is also annoying. It's the regular "go back to home screen" delay when using the phone.
I'm running Cognition 1.31, and problem was present on Stock ROM, VillainROM, Cognition 1.15 and 1.31.
I had voice control only on Stock ROM, and don't have it now - no difference. Delay is about 0.5-1 second.
Super annoying. Makes it feel slow. Was not present on any of the SGS ROMs.
+1
I just think of an iPhone... it's better in only this thing
CM7 fixes it. I think I know what you mean, I had it in Cognition 1.31 and litee'ning rom. Now I don't or don't even notice it.

Yeah this is my exact problem I don't think removing voice command has helped to be honest

Did this actually get fixed in 2.3.4? The home button lag not the waking lag.
Nope.

Real Racing 2 Crashing

When I play Real Racing 2 on my phone sometimes it crashes and goes back to the home screen or the apps page and my wallpaper disappears. Does this happen to anyone else?

By any chance you're touching the back key on the phone accidently? Didn't try this game but on another game i went to home screen but realized i had pressed the back key since it's very sensitive.
Nope definitely not doing that ):
having the same problem on galaxy s advance.... any idea??
Mine doesn't.it works smooth.Stock s3.

Nope mine dont do it either .
But do have stuttery choppy music tho anybody suffer from that ?

Stuttery music
I had stuttery music. Tried a lot of things. Finally it seems it is sufficient to increase the available RAM. I use 'Advanced task killer' to do the job.
Now I can enjoy the race with 'normal' sound (without stuttering).

[Q] youtube full screen w/o having screen rotate on??

hi just wondering if it's just me or others r having this issue. to get youtube to go full screen I need to have screen rotate on. coming from sgsII all you had to do was turn the phone and u didn't need rotate turned on. maybe I'm missing a setting
if there is a workaround or fix I would to hear about it
I have auto roate off and I just had to double tap the video. On my Evo I could press down and hold on the video and hit the maximize icon that popped up.
I tried double tapping... I'm on youtube version 4.0.8e if that helps and I'm on stock i747 rom
anyone?
Happens with ICS on the Sprint SGS2 as well. Seems to be a TouchWiz issue because CM9 rotates like it should. Not sure if there's a workaround other than waiting for CM9 to make its way here.

must be a problem with youtube 4.0.8e

Same here!
I'm using Apex Launcher but i don't know if touchwiz is doing something in the background. Double-touch doesn't work neither.
it might just be with youtube 4.0.8e... anyone else having this problem?

[Q] My headphone icon disappeared

This is strange but the headphone icon no longer appears when I plug in headphones. Everything works as it should, other than the icon.
I'm using 4.1.2, but it has happened to me on the stock ICS rom as well. How do I fix this? I'd like to make sure the headphone is in before I press play, otherwise sometimes music blasts out of the wrong hole.

Audio out 2 /media battery drain

Okay hey guys I've been looking at my battery stats on bbs and apparently audio out 2 or media server as it's showing on gsam battery monitor is keeping my phone awake for hours at a time.it's driving me crazy I've looked on the internet all day and I just can't find a fix for it does anyone know anyway to fix this battery drain? Btw I'm using wanamlite 4.7 and the latest boeffla kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Are you using any radio apps or media applications? Audio out goes with a lot of apps that play sounds..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Nope none in the last 24 hours.

I have the same problem with wanamlite but I use both tunein And yala radio if I turn off notification will the problem be solved ?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I use tunein and it gives me both wakelocks. Yiu may wish to check in the wanam thread to see if anyone else suffers similar symptoms

Isn't an issue ... is related to the sound system.
Sound on tap , sound in keyboard , sound on lock screen etc ... including sound notification for incoming alerts ... all of these keeps the audio 2 wakelock on top

I might have found a final solution for this "audio out 2" battery drain. I tried lots of stuff and nothing worked, this battery drain kept showing up "randomly" sometimes it was lasting very long and sometimes it would disapear just like that. Ok so now I know it was not random. I found the solution by accident. So when you click volume up or down button the volume slider shows up with a settings icon. When u click the settings icon U get view of 4 separate sliders for different system events. All U have to do is set all of those sliders to maximum and problem solved. I suppose it must be some sound settings bug that shows up when one of the sliders is set to different volume than others. In my case the media volume was lower than the others. I didn't try it, but maybe if you set all the sliders to exactly 50 there would be also no battery drain. Also I have in call volume set to max, U can access it only during a call by volume up or down keys.
Could sombody try my solution and check if it works for them? Maybe some devs could also check it out to prevent it form happening on custom roms. And the most important thing my setup is international GS3 with stock 4.1.2 xxemb1 firmware, i duplicated the problem and solution on stock xella xelkc firmwares also.
Hope I helped.
Do you have, by any chance, Viber installed? I found it being the culprit. It was keeping the device awake and always a 200Mhz, so the battery drained drastically fast. I removed and now it seems to be fine. There's already a similar topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919126
So kamylo, the sliders shouldn't make any difference and anyway I'm nit gonna stay with all sounds on max... Check here for more info http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2669688/all
