[Q] backtrack 5-i605- need a kernel with loop supoort - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ive been trying to run backtrack 5 on my note 2(i605).
I ran into an issue with my current rooted kernel not having loop support.
In running BT5, this feature is required. Does anyone know of
A kernel with "loop support " on the i605 that I can flash so I can get bt5 up and running?
~thanks

[Q] Multiboot Linux

Hey,
since DoomLord have realesed his bootloader it should be possible to boot Linux (Ubuntu, Debian) like the Dualboot 2.1 and 2.3 we've got before the update. The Linux could be a SquashFS like azuzu's Linux and the kernel could be boot by bypassing. The all could be placed on SDcard (Yes, Doomlord, i've seen the image of the bootloader WITH boot from SDcard =D ). So my question is: Is this possible, is someone working on it or has someone time for it? 'cause i don't have it and i'm not developer enough to do so.
Hope you have understood everything

its theoritically possible i was working on something simmilar few months back however now work is stopped due to my other preferences.
only hurdle we stuck at was getting a proper linux kernel to boot.
when doom gets his phone up and running again and he finds time out of the initial CM7 frenze we might work on that again, but there is no Fix ETA as far as my side is concerned.
also all my work is documented in my threads here so if anyone wants to continue they are more then just welcome.

[Q] how to get recovery on i7 tablet

I have a no name i7 tablet. M799ca 2.3.3 rooted (superoneclick). I've been trying to put clockworkmod recovery on it with no success due to noT knowing the exact model of my tablet. I need to know how to put some kind of recovery on this so I can flash a new kernel on it. The one I have won't let me over clock the processor. Please help it took me forever just to root the damn thing
I have the same issue, I got it thinking I could just put CWM on it from the Cyanogenmod tree.. no luck. From there, I set up a build environment with a recovery dump. You should have familiarization with using adb and initializing a build environment.
I will try to post a custom CWM for this after testing because I've seen similar posts with the same problem.

[Q] Versus Bootloader

Hello folks,
I am after some help. I recently rooted by Versus 7 touchpad with the intention of putting a android rom of some kind on it, or even better, ubuntu touch.
Now I have rooted the device fully without any issues, but I am unable to get into the bootloader or any sort of recovery. Due to this i cannot install a custom recovery, or install any other systems.
Does anyone know how I can get around this? Any help would be appreciated!!!

[Q] Trying to install Debian-Kit on NC5 - Problem with Knox? (not SELinux)

I am currently on the NC5 build, and I have root. I have safestrap working, I can login as su on a terminal, and I have used the SELinux mod app to change the SELinux status to 'permissive"
I verified this with
Code:
#getenforce
Permissive
Still, Debian-Kit cannot find SU. Trying to unpack it returns the ASH error mentioned in thread 2475803
Linux Deploy also fails with the mount point error others have mentioned.
Is this related to Knox? I have been thinking about switching to T-Mobile for the unlocked bootloader so I could install a different kernel, but I should be able to proceed with the permissive status, right?
If this is a problem with Knox, then I suppose that any current Samsung device will not allow chroot Linux or Debian-Kit?
I got a Samsung to use as a full Linux OS on my Desktop - this is a deal breaker for me.
FWIW, I had been on NK1, but I could not get SELinux to change to permissive, so I downgraded to NC5.

Your kernel doesn't support loop devices. That's why debian wont boot. No way around it.
Putting your current device on TMO wont unlock the bootloader FYI.

Thank you!!!!! This has been so confusing, because Debian-Kit reports that I do have loop mount ability. But this explains why there is no linux on android solution that works.
I was planning on buying a tmo S4, which has the unlocked bootloader. Will look for a stock kernel for tmo S4 that allows loop mount - do you know if such a thing exists?
CM kernel seems to allow it, as another reported success with it, but I don't want to use it because I want to dock my phone using MHL -> HDMI + USB OTG on my desktop at work. I don't think CM supports the 11-pin function of the S4 which is why I bought this in the first place!

I think CM odes support the S4s dock mode... Check over on that forum. CM does have loop mount. Id bet anything there's a kernel out there to do loop support on stock though.

Anyone have the latest stable version (version 5) running on Nexus 10 [Manta]??

I've been trying for days to get ubuntu touch on my Nexus 10, and nothing works. Finally posted on AskUbuntu, but it's not getting much attention. At this point I just want to know if what I am trying is even possible. Here is a copy-paste of the post:
askubuntu[dot]com/questions/796924/can-not-install-ubuntu-touch-on-nexus-10
I am having a lot of trouble installing Ubuntu onto my Nexus 10 (16gb wifi edition). I have followed the instructions here [1] and here[2]. No matter what I do it ends with the message 'this phone needs restoring from a pc or service center'. I have searched ask ubuntu and other forums and here is what I have tried to solve the problem. Installed android 4.4.4 stock, cyanogenmod 11, android 4.0 stock prior to flashing. I also formatted with
$ fastboot format cache
$ fastboot format userdata
as suggested here[3]. Nothing seems to work.
Other things to note, I am using ubuntu-device-flash on a virtual box machine running ubuntu 16.04, and it takes a long time for ubuntu-device-flash to push the last .tar.xz file to my tablet, somewhere in the range of 1 hour or more. Last night I let it run overnight because some on some forums the response to similar problems was "be patient" once you see the 'this phone needs restoring...' error. When I woke up the phone was in a boot loop and I had to re-flash stock 4.4.4.
I have successfully flashed ubuntu version 2 with the dual boot app in android, but I can't get it to update. I also have not been successful in getting the app to use the UBports server as a custom server to install the latest version, similar to this guy[4].
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Are you sure that there is a newer version than 2?
Somewhere I picked up that ubports offer their own fork of the multirom app which uses their servers.
Edit: You could also try to only flash the recovery initially and see whether you get any further that way. So after using ubuntu-device-flash, you should have a recovery image somewhere in ~/.cache/ubuntusomethingoranother/ and in theory you should be able to flash that with fastboot.
