Hi guys,
Some time during the night, my phone seems to have a had a hickup and lost itself. I woke up to find the phone displaying the initial boot message ("Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300") and then doing nothing. Tried taking out the battery and leaving it out for a while, booted into download mode, but the PC doesn't recognize it and the phone doesn't even display its version. Have had the battery out for an hour, but still no luck.
Anyone got any good ideas on how to get past this? I have not recently flashed it or anything. It's been working perfectly with the last flash for more than a month without me fiddling with it.
This is my work phone, so it's kind of urgent.

I actually found that thread, but was hoping this was something else...Sucks having to send the phone away. Good thing is I might get a new one, and this one has had its' trips into the ground

Mine had same issue. Sent in last Friday, got it back today from Samsung SC. Replaced internal PBA board only.

Nope. USB is completely dead even in download/recovery mode :S

He means the phones recovery mode, and it's different to download, and is accessed with volume up home and power when you switch it on.

Ouch! ..sounds like a hard brick, you may need to JTAG. Connexion25 does it. You can try download mode via jig. You can go to radio shack and make one or buy a nice tidy one already made.

I thought I had this with my captivate. I found out it still powered on by turning it on in a dark room and noticed a faint glow. Then I was finally able to get it into download mode with a jig and reflashed

What were you trying to load? Unless you were flashing something with bootloaders (WHY????), this should not have happened.
I recently purchased this Jig from Ebay and was wondering if anyone has any insight if this particular jig works on this Samsung Galaxy S3 Variant.

Did you try going into download mode by down on the volume pad, home button and power button all together and holding it?

Yes, it is indefinitely Bricked ! Trust me my friend I have tried that many times already

Just to clarify things. My phone has a black screen and shows the QHUSB_DLOAD on my computer.
Will the Jig still get my phone into Download mode ???

I think for the flash counter you need an app called TriangleAway....
The Jig I think would only be good to force your phone into DMode

I was told by many people that the JIG will not work, I tried one and it didnt. I sent my bricked S3 to mobiletechvideos.com. They are the only ones who can fix fully bricked phones.

On the GS3 the jig will only put you in download mode. It will NOT reset the flash counter as it did with earlier Samsung phones.

Any idea why all the sudden the galaxy note will randomly shut off completly and I have to use the power button to power it back on, sometimes it will sit there and viberate and I have to pull the battery. Its running stock ics. And YES ITS THE att note. I'm sending this with my international note

I've been getting the problem a few days ago. It will randomly turn back on however it seems to not want to turn on. Using my backup phone atm...

Try a reset or reflash the rom your using. Ice hasn't been released yet officially for the note so you must be on one of the leaks. Try reflashing

Problem is the phone automatically turns off in 10 secs every time even in download mode. I'll keep trying hopefully it will stick. Thanks for the tip though.

Wow that's a new one in me. I thought read someplace that certain roms react this way if the battery get to low and you have to go into cwm and do a cache wipe I think. Sorry that all I got .

If phone is turning off in download mode I doubt it is the ROM installed. Have you tried swapping batteries?
Also the issue seems to ONLY HAPPEN WHEN MOVING THE PHONE! SO I dont think Its a doftware issue. I tried changing battries same issue. It stayed on all NIGHT last night. Then when I go to touch it this morning it restarts.

How about if you leave the charger plugged in? Hopefully you can get the opportunity to get it restored to stock and have it exchanged under warranty.
Edit: stuck power button maybe?

It does it with charger too. But ONLY really does it while moving it
I CANT get it to even turn on now, It will viberate and show samsung and then shut off
I can get it into download mode for a sec and it will flash and turn off
The power button got mashed a little too hard.
If its store bought, its a warranty issue.
If its Craigslist or ebay you have to pull the whole thing apart and reseat the silver button in the case correctly and reassemble.
I've come across a few phones that have this defect.

Maybe one of your cables inside is loose and disconnects when you move it? I would either take your phone apart yourself or take it to a shop to get it checked.

It was bought over the phone in march, Im gonna call warrenty and deal with them tommrow, Cause last year when I had to call them the phone I had at the time would not turn on and they were telling me I needed to reset it lol

Yea, Im gonna go the warranty route. But Im afraid cause it has ICS on it, But I can keep it in download mode long enough to odin back to stock

My SGS3 Pebble Blue suddenly went dead. I leave my phone overnight with 17% battery charge, I dont remember well if the wifi was on, but in the morning it was completely dead, no button respond at all. Thinking that the battery has been emptied, i plug in the charger, but the phone doesnt respond, not even the LED nor the battery display that is charging. So, I leave it on the charger for a couple of hours, like 3 or 4 hours but still its dead.
My SGS3 is running at Omega ROM v34, everything is working fine before the incident, no lags, no system crashes. It is made in vietnam and I got it from a local network provider in Phillippines.
What can i possibly do to revive my SGS3? I could not send it to Samsung for warranty because, first it is running in custom firmware, next is warranty is completely void because i have already replaced my LCD Screen last month. I dropped my phone and the Screen was damaged so I ordered a screen replacement and I myself replaced the damaged screen.
Please help, I have no idea what happened....
Sounds like the S3 "Sudden Death" issue that was in the media some days ago (so the chance is high that it is a physical defect and you can't do much against it...).
Try a google "Galaxy S3 Sudden Death" search and you should get tons of informations about the issue. As far as i know Samsung Support repairs/replaces damaged devices without trouble.
Looks like they replace the mainboard on those damaged devices. Some people are saying that it might be some sort of planned obsolescence that kicks in to early.
That would also explain why Samsung is not talking about those issues at all and repairing/replacing damaged devices without further asking.

Unfortunately my S3 died on me as well on the eve of new year!
I'm waiting for the holidays to be over so I can send it to the Samsung service center.
Hopefully, they will cover the repairs with the warranty and they will not notice that my phone is rooted and running on custom software..

Yup... I experience that too....its the motherboard issue... My phone is rooted.. Sent to samsung service centre... They replaced it.. No question asked..

Yes... To double check... Go to download mode and see whether brand name ''i9300''is there... If no, pit partition messed up... Confirm motherboard dead..

Have sent in the unit yesterday to the service center. They have checked the download mode and asked me if I did some rooting and I said no.
From the download mode they cannot see the product name but there is no custom binary download numbers too so they said it is covered by warranty and just this morning, I called them up to follow up and they said they already ordered a new motherboard. I asked again if there are no problems with regards to the warranty and they have confirmed that it is indeed covered. Hopefully, in a week I'll get the repaired unit

So have you gotten your phone back yet? Which service center did you bring your unit to?
I was trying to do an odin factory restore, everything looked as if it went ok. Green pass and all but no reboot on the phone. Im getting NOT a single thing from the device (no led, no screen, no downloading menu) but when plugged into the PC it recognizes something being connected and sounds off but odin won't find it either. I'm not exactly sure what happened to my s4. I had it rooted with the latest firmware and it was fine for days. Then I rebooted and identical symptoms described above. Please tell me....or rather us there is a way around this. Please PM me if need be. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have been trying everything for hours now. I know this is only my second post, but Ive been doing this since the beginning. I have always received the help I needed via these forums, but clearly something has happened and I've soft bricked on many a droid phone and always found my way to a solution, but no lights, no vibration, yet when plugged into a computer, just as the first post mentions....it can tell a device was plugged in, but driver installation fails. I'm almost certain I hard bricked it and I'm very upset. I have an insurance policy that covers absolutely anything with a brand new device, but I have never filed a claim and can't afford to wait. I really messed up this time.....

I hope so. Tomorrow I'm going to delete the drivers and see what happens. I read somewhere to disconnect from PC pull out battery, hold both volume buttons down insert battery then plug it into the PC while still holding the two buttons. That didn't work for me though

If you can not get into odinmode (download mode) or recovery, sounds like you are hard bricked and out of luck.
If you CAN get into odin mode, are you on Mdk or me7? Can use this method then. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
Only other suggestion is to get the "kies" software and do an emergency update from there if it can recognize the device correctly.
From past experience when i bricked a previous smartphone, the end result was my computer would beep and recognize something was connecting, but never add it to devices would contiously beep on and off if i unplugged and plugged back in, and phone would not boot into any mode.

States right at the bottom no jig will fix a hard bricked phone which is what it sounds like he has unfortunately. Pretty sure the only way to fix a hard bricked phone is jtag.

Yes and no haha. sometimes your pc will still make noise when you plug it in. Op google heimdall and give that a shot thats about the only thing I can think of. Never had to resort to it so cant confirm whether it works or not but its not like you have anything to lose at this point.

Tried kies but won't recognize the phone. I uninstalled the drivers now I get no notification from the computer. I'll try the other suggestion.

Like i said i havent used it personally only read about it but from what i read you dont have to be in download mode for heimdall. You can use it to flash the original bootloader and if it takes I think youll be able to then go into download mode and revive your phone.
