Hi there Folks....
My SGS3 Pebble Blue suddenly went dead. I leave my phone overnight with 17% battery charge, I dont remember well if the wifi was on, but in the morning it was completely dead, no button respond at all. Thinking that the battery has been emptied, i plug in the charger, but the phone doesnt respond, not even the LED nor the battery display that is charging. So, I leave it on the charger for a couple of hours, like 3 or 4 hours but still its dead.
My SGS3 is running at Omega ROM v34, everything is working fine before the incident, no lags, no system crashes. It is made in vietnam and I got it from a local network provider in Phillippines.
What can i possibly do to revive my SGS3? I could not send it to Samsung for warranty because, first it is running in custom firmware, next is warranty is completely void because i have already replaced my LCD Screen last month. I dropped my phone and the Screen was damaged so I ordered a screen replacement and I myself replaced the damaged screen.
Please help, I have no idea what happened....
Sounds like the S3 "Sudden Death" issue that was in the media some days ago (so the chance is high that it is a physical defect and you can't do much against it...).
Try a google "Galaxy S3 Sudden Death" search and you should get tons of informations about the issue. As far as i know Samsung Support repairs/replaces damaged devices without trouble.
Looks like they replace the mainboard on those damaged devices. Some people are saying that it might be some sort of planned obsolescence that kicks in to early.
That would also explain why Samsung is not talking about those issues at all and repairing/replacing damaged devices without further asking.

Read the Sudden Death Thread first .

Also post this in the s3 philippines thread. I been monitoring when this thing will start manifesting on our shores. You're the first one from philippines that reported this problem here or that I have read.

Unfortunately my S3 died on me as well on the eve of new year!
I'm waiting for the holidays to be over so I can send it to the Samsung service center.
Hopefully, they will cover the repairs with the warranty and they will not notice that my phone is rooted and running on custom software..

Yup... I experience that too....its the motherboard issue... My phone is rooted.. Sent to samsung service centre... They replaced it.. No question asked..

Does it mean that my mobo died even if I can still boot in download mode?
Thank you!

Yes... To double check... Go to download mode and see whether brand name ''i9300''is there... If no, pit partition messed up... Confirm motherboard dead..

Have sent in the unit yesterday to the service center. They have checked the download mode and asked me if I did some rooting and I said no.
From the download mode they cannot see the product name but there is no custom binary download numbers too so they said it is covered by warranty and just this morning, I called them up to follow up and they said they already ordered a new motherboard. I asked again if there are no problems with regards to the warranty and they have confirmed that it is indeed covered. Hopefully, in a week I'll get the repaired unit

I tried to flash my phone with LGMDP.exe and I've bricked it
I've tried all ways to make kdz recognise it with no success and the phone doesn't even enter in emergency mode...
So my sad question is: if I say to LG that I've bricked my phone with their official software during the last 2.3.3 italian updgrade (released this morning), will they repair my phone without making me pay money?
Thanks to all that will answer me
LG Italia services are dumb,so you can say it without problems. Also rooting and custom romming the phone doesn't void warranty.

Tell them that the phone has bricked during the update with the official tool. Generally LG accepts the warranty. Most probably they'll change the main board.
Just tell them that the phone was working at night and when you woke up it was like this. You don't need to mention the update. They'll change the board, quietly.
Are you sure it is bricked? No mode is working?

Unplug than remove battery. That's the correct method to brick it.

Mine was repaired within 3 days. I sent them on tuesday, the returned it to me on thursday. In the service log I saw that they ordered new mainboard on tuesday and received it on thursday. Very quick, which is not typical for Bulgaria

Ok,
I took my phone back to complete stock last night using odin, this morning I wanted to update the phone so my kiddo could get the new market, after downloading kies and running the update the phone will not turn on at all. it does not show when I connect a charger and I cant get it to go into download mode. Any suggestions or is this phone now done?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
I Tried this and it didn't work. I really believe my phone is completely dead!
So there is no sign of life at all? No leds or any backlight behind the screen? If not, then you are hardbricked. Kies is notorious for hardbricking phones.
You can call your carrier or Samsung and tell them your phone was bricked using THEIR software and see where that goes.
Sorry for your loss.
Nothing at all idk what they will say since I've had the phone since brand new

I had the exact problem you did. Tmobile sent me a replacement, and now I have a phone with no scratches or dings! :victory:
Well I've had mine since the day it came out, it it's out of warranty so t-mobile won't cover it, Samsung was not going to cover it at first but after it was said and done they decided to cover it since it was there software that bricked my phone

My dad cracked the screen on his Galaxy Note so I bought a replacement and replaced it. But when I turn the phone on the Samsung Galaxy Note logo turns from white to purple and everything after bootup has a purple tint to it. The weird thing is, if I boot up the phone with the old screen attached then replace the old one with the new one, while the phone is still on, the new one doesn't have purple tint to it. But if I reboot the phone with the new screen it turns purple again. I am not sure what to do. How can I fix this?
Get another replacement, there may be ways to fix it but you might as well just get new one because there could be more problems down the road

I can't really afford to pay another $250 for another replacement. Why does it work if I bootup with old screen then replace with new one while the phone is on? The phone must be detecting the new screen as something else and using the wrong display drivers or something. Can't I force it to use the right drivers?
Is it the right part from Samsung or is it a non OEM replacement?
And why did you steal my avatar!?

The LCD part # is AMS529HA01 which is the same part # as the original. It also has Samsung branding on the front as well as the ribbon cable. So it appears to be a OEM part. I did not get it from Samsung, I got it from smartphonebay.net, which says it is 100% OEM.

I upgraded it to ICS a few weeks ago.
i had a problem like that on an old phone it turned out to be the ribbon cable wasn't fully connected. i ended up putting a tiny piece of foam on the connector to hold it down real good once the phone was put back together.
I agree. It sounds like bad ribbon connection to some signal needed for boot detection.
I almost bought a $250 replacement when I cracked my glass. AT&T was no help. Samsung offered to fix it cheaper. $197.01 including parts, labor and shipping to and from Plano, TX.

A mate of mine is having the exact same issue as you. He brought his replacement screen off Ebay which was "claiming" 100% OEM. On boot the Samsung Galaxy Note logo stays white for a couple of seconds then turns a shade of purple. We did discover that if you install a GB rom the issue is resolved. In particular if a GB kernel is installed the issue goes away. Did you find a fix to your problem?

I've got the exact same problem. I replaced the display on my N7000 and a few seconds after showing the logo it goes purple and stays that way. I installed a GB ROM and voila! No more purple. But I want to run a Jelly Bean ROM! This is driving me nuts!
Anyone found another solution yet?
My s2 was acting weird like showing me charging when it was not charging. I searched through the forum and found out that it was the charging ports problem
Took a pin and just cleaned it and just moved pin inside
Now no problems
But should I give it to service center and try to replace the port using my warranty just to be sure it will never happen ?
My warranty gonna expire by December. Another problem is will they accept to change it cause there is no problem now :/

wait for some time and see if the problem re-occurs, if it then visit the service center for a replacement
Agree as above, only if it occurs again.
I have recently purchased an s3 from someone but i'm having trouble with it.
I can only go into download mode and the bootscreen. Brought it to a repair centre and the verdict was that the phone has been rooted by the previous owner so warranty voided. Could be sent to samsung but it would cost me money.
Been reading certain posts here tried everything but still no luck.
Keep getting no partition. Partition unsuccesfull.
My s3 is not fully sds but half.
Kies won't recognize him and trying to install roms no such luck.
I just want to throw my phone away right about now.
The service at samsung is very ****ty pardon my saying so.

Half SDS or full SDS both mean u will be replacing the motherboard to fix it as there is no other way and throwing the phone away would cost more than the replace
Maybe so but then it wouldn't be my problem anymore.
